I purchased three of these suncast 125 automatic hose reels. All of the handles on all three of them broke off after using. first they begin to get very stiff to operate the handle back and forth. Then eventually it just breaks off in your hand. I ordered new handles for two of them they proceeded to also break off after using for one summer. Suncast will not stand behind this product so now I am bringing all three of them to the garbage can.Suncast should have recalled this product as it is defective. Do not buy Suncast products as they are junk.

Poor quality, Suncast will not stand behind product
My first one lasted 10 years and I loved it. I only replaced it because I moved into a new house and I like the style of the new hose reel. I am using the same hose on this new hose reel that I used on the old reel for 10 years. One of the plastic gears snapped in about one year with minimal use. I contacted Suncast asking if they could repair or replace it for me but they said they wouldn't help without a receipt and quoted me prices on parts. I believe the first one I had was made by another company and Suncast bought them. This new version is just inferior to the original. I cannot recommend this automatic hose reel anymore.

Contrary to what others have said...
I've used mine for nearly two decades, and it still works well. I should probably get in there in lube up the moving parts, as I simple placed it on my patio and haven't really touched it since, other than to pull the hose out and water plants, rinse off a car, etc. It still autowinds the hose, and so far nothing has broken. Too bad they no longer carry it... anywhere, I really like mine... and now that I've given it praises, I'm sure in a couple of days it will break. lol

great if it works
I have gone through multiple aquawinders and itnseems they do jot last more than a couple of years due to cracks or breakage.

It is a beast to unwind
This winds up just great, but it is a beast to unwind when you want to water!! No wonder they give you holes to drive spikes in to get it to stay in place! No matter what hose we used it was always a struggle to water things. Save your self the aggravation!!

So easy to use
This innovative design is great. So simple to install and operate. We have had two for over a year and they work flawlessly. You you to just make sure that the hose is straight at the box when you reverse the water flow, to rewind. I am looking to get a third one, but it doesn’t look like anyone has them in stock. Hopefully that is temporary.
The newer models say battery operated. That sounds like a really bad idea. Batteries....water...outside...what could go wrong?

Unit defective
I bought 3 units in the past and I bought 1 unit recently back in June. About a month ago. I started experiencing a very hard to move reel. Come to find out after peeking inside the box that all the gears are dislodged. Obviously nothing I did. I've had the 3 other units for 3 years functioning good. This unit was a lemon if it already broke. I contacted Suncast and asked for a replacement unit and all they want to do is send me parts. Who has time to sit here and open this thing up. I could see if the unit was a few years old but it's barely 4 months old. Their customer service is so far subpar and not willing to please a loyal customer that's already bought 3 other units. I would not buy this again. Different brand will have to be.
Also, I submitted an online form and they took over a week to respond and that's because I called to follow-up. Otherwise I still would not've heard from anyone. I requested the number to supervisor and a day later they couldn't provide that. How long does it take to get service with Suncast. (smh)

the lever will Break
This is a great product I have two that are less than year old. Both of them have the same problem. The lever control for water hose rewind has broke. I kept them lubed. The bad thing is you cant get a new lever. its very easy to take off, but they have replacement part for it.

Hose needs to be fed" straight" into box
Have two of these and they are great. However, I learned that if the hose is at an angle to the box and you do nothing but shift the lever to rewind it, it struggles to "pull" hose into the box. I suspect that this causes undo stress on the rewind mechanism, which I assume is plastic. Instead I stand several feet from the box and guide the hose straight into the box. Have had them for a few years and still working perfectly. Was looking to buy another but they are currently out of stock at Home Depot
