5/16 in. or 8 mm is the thickness. All the details can be found in the Info & Guides section on the product page.

How is this product cut

Asked by Steve April 25, 2021
1
Answer

A sharp utility knife with a large handle & a straight edge is what I've used. Cutting across the panel may require multiple passes of knife. Instructions state- Use either a circular saw with a minimum of 10 teeth per inch, a utility knife and a straight edge, or a pair of snips. Support the sheets to avoid vibration and cut at slow speed.

Great for DIY aquarium covers
I purchased the polycarbonate sheet to make DIY aquarium covers - by far one of the better products I have been able to find for this purpose.

Strong and durable. Great on shed roof to allow light in. Installed over existing, different type of panels, damaged by acorns. Very satisfied with ease of cutting with utility knife and installing these light weight but very strong panels. Panels not damaged by walking and kneeling on while on shingle roof. Panels drilled well and held up to pressure of water tight screw fasteners. Was glad to see these panels in The Home Depot store. After being very satisfied using a similar panel ordered from Home Depot, these larger, easy to cut panels will suit many projects. Highly recommend these translucent roofing panels.

Have used this for greenhouse (4x12') panels and deck canopy and replacement of broken windows on outbuildings. Easy to use, works like a charm. But don't throw the leftover scraps away! I've found a hundred uses for them. The latest was to weatherproof and stiffen an indoor leaf antenna which didn't work inside and needed go rooftop on a mast above the trees and other obstructions. The mfg discouraged this with all kinds of nonsense about not being weatherproof, max cable length, signal degradation and such (I think they just wanted me to by another, pricey outdoor version.) Instead, I sandwiched the antenna between two small scraps of Palram and sealed the edges with a high quality weather/water-proof tape. I cut a small square out of the two inside walls, removed the plastic veins and the connector box on the antenna fit perfectly inside the cutout and was still protected by the outer walls. Voila the inside antenna is now outside. giving me a clear signal with no problems at all. Another project required putting a free-standing cabinet in front of a window, which substantially reduced the light coming into the room during the day. I replaced the Masonite backing on the cabinet with a scrap of Palram and Voila! - let there be light... So save your scraps. There's a myriad of ways they can save the day.

I am so glad this product is still made. As you can see by the pictures, we have our doggie door in the wall. It is far stronger than other places I had doors put into. This type of door is an older style but it works very well and is easy to train a puppy to go through. When we replaced this door our dog was leery only because she could see though the door. We had the other one with 6 dogs running through it over the years. It does last.

I needed to protect all of my plants from severe cold as they’d been enjoying life on the balcony...
I needed to protect all of my plants from severe cold as they’d been enjoying life on the balcony this fall and I didn’t have the room to bring them all inside for the winter, so I figured I’d just enclose the balcony and use this Polycarbonate Clear Thinwall to do so. It was easy to use. I simply cut it down (using a utility knife to score it along a metal straight edge and snapped it free) and added a wooden frame and made individual panels, needing only to cut about 5” off of one end of each in order to stand them up and install them as walls (vs. ceiling panels) sonthey would clear the concrete ceiling beams that add a challenge to every room of this apartment. I installed them by screwing them to one another in 4 places, alternating sides. I also drilled some through-holes to run long, thin, fully threaded bolts that I could use washers and wing nuts to create a non-damaging clampdown installation detail, since I am only renting and cannot damage the balcony... It worked wonders and is 80° with 60% humidity and my plants are loving it! I need to leave the balcony door open all winter and run an oil-filled electric heater out on the balcony (inside the greenhouse), but it’s perfect, with a little foam weather stripping filling the small gaps around the top and sides, and a door built into the center so I can still open up and go to the balcony rail to enjoy the mountain and city views weather-permitting. I tried to share the best of the photos...

I purchased about 8 of these for an 8x8 green house. They are PERFECT. I'm certain there are a number of additional use cases, but for anything outdoors that needs sunlight, this is the way to go.
