A:  I used these behind a clear polycarbonate panel on my horse shed. They seemed to work well in my application using them vertically on the shed door. Not sure that answers your question.

    by|Feb 1, 2023

A:  You install these UNDER the edge of the panel onto rafter to provide a stable support. You must screw them down in straight line and then place first panel from that start point for your roof. The opposite side of roof ‘strips’ should not be installed until you get there with the panels so you can place them to fit under the last row of last panel. You may need to overlap the last panel more than one corrugated rib to fit edge of roof properly.

    Answer This Question

A:  These pictured are Vertical strips - they run the same direction as the rafters on blocking between the purlins. Along the purlins you would run Horizontal strips and together they will seal under the panels with no gaps

A:  Barbara: Good morning . . There are two typs of Suntuf strips to use. You will use ones that go across the perlins and the ones you talk about are the ones used on the outside edges. Check out this video and it will explain the installation and you will see the difference of the two different strips. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Suntuf-26-in-x-12-ft-Polycarbonate-Roofing-Panel-in-Clear-101699/100049922 I used these when putting a pergola over our hot tub. The installation is very easy and the results are great. Enjoy your project. Jay

A:  Should not be a gap. The panel will fit into the closure strip, resting above the purlins on top of the rafters. The closure strip should mate with the panel.

Overall it worked and did it to job I needed to do however the connection between each piece does not stay together very nicely I had to put a little piece of tape on it to hold it connected together while I manipulated it where I needed to go before I screwed it in

Sturdy product to support and anchor the edges of Suntuf panels. Easy to cut with metal snips, and the strips maintained their shape even when cut into short pieces. Well worth installing.

Better than FOAM or WOOD spacers!
These spacers are well worth the special order wait. They are all 24” in length and snap together forming an exact layout for the panels. I built a 10’ x 12’ awning and used both the horizontal and vertical closure strips together. BUT THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED TO OVERLAP. You cannot connect the vertical end-to-end at the same time you connect the horizontal end-to-end. So I cut all the vertical strips to fit between the horizontal strips since the horizontal spacing was the more exact layout I wanted. They hold together well enough that I could snap a 12’ section together on the ground and lift it up to the roof top without the sections falling apart. I will never use form or wood spacers again and think they should be an in-store item all the time.

Palruf Horizontal Closures MANDATORY for water proof seal!
Fortunately for you all reading this (and unfortunately for me) I didn't put these in FIRST and you can learn from my mistake! I had to take up my panels and reinstall with these and the foam end caps SO I recommend you do these first for water proof seal. Easy to install, slotted ends to attach one to the next. These also have countersunk drill holes for screw down installation where possible. Mine was installed over glass so I used silicone caulk instead. BONUS these are so inexpensive, you'll be sorry if you don't!!
