I want to install these panels on my patio roof, but am concerned it will increase the heat in the summer due to the greenhouse effect. My parents had fiberglass on their patio and it was unbearably hot.
Asked by: Mary
The heat will definitely come through. However, if you have three open sides it probably won't make much difference. I used it on a shed will only two side windows and it builds up way too much heat; had to use vent vent fans to try to keep the summer temperature below 110 inside.

Why are the screws supposed to go into the peaks (which then require closure strips for support), rather than just putting the screws into the valleys and not use the closure strips? Seems like bunch of extra effort and expense (as long as you don't over-tighten the screws), and the product would be better secured? Or is it supposed to be sort of floating?
Asked by: Doug
Here's why you need to install on the peaks. When you drill in the valleys, you're creating a hole. Eventually, the sun begins to degrade the rubber in the mounting screws (about 5 years in Santa Clara Valley, California). You then have panels that leak water through the screw holes. Water collects in the valleys, not the peaks. You'll then have to climb up every couple of years to put aquarium cement over each screw to try to make it water-tight again, not always successful. On the other hand, screwing through the peaks allows rainwater to collect and then drain off the valleys. Screw through the pwaks and you'll never have a worry.

Is this a transparent gray or is it a solid color gray? Am just wondering if light is able to filter through?

Asked by: kelsey
read all 13 1 star reviews. the colors the color. but this product will crack. panels are known to blow off. rain will come through. we found this product to be a very "lightweight" deck cover option. it didn't hold up well @ all. and like many others on the HD review site - Palrram told us to "pound sand" when we asked for a rebate. a real poor product from what seems like weak company. good luck.
