Questions & Answers

My suntuf roof leaks everywhere. Is there something to do to fix it

Asked by: Ks
I had the same problem. I noticed that rain water will stay on the flat peak and run down to the next screw head. Even though I used the prescribed screws with the rubber washer, water would still get under the screw head and drip on the deck. So when I had to replace the suntuf roof due to hail damage (which suntuf covered a pro-rated portion of) I put a dab of clear silicone sealant under each screw washer. That took care of the problem.

Can these be used with your 24 polycarbonate roof panels

Asked by: Bearchaser
These fit the Suntuf panels

Are these flexible enough to use against a curved surface?

We are building an arched greenhouse wall on our shed and want to use them along the arch. The "ribs" of the panel will be horizontal so we need these to be capable af bending and forming to the arch.
Asked by: Mike
They are very flexible.

Neither the hard plastic nor the soft foam strips close the ends to anything remotely close to air tight. Exchanged a set of hard strips for these, I still end up with a 1/4" gap unless I tighten the screws excessively. Plastic doesn't like to be forced. They also have to be stretched at least 2" to get the crests and valleys to line up. Foam has memory, and the strips will creep back to original length in short order. Spare yourself and your pride as a craftsman. Find a pattern for greca76/18 corrugation profile online and print it out 100%. Spray glue it to a piece of fence rail and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for greenhouse use After finally getting my husband to build a greenhouse, we mistakenly used these closure strips in the roofing panels. After one summer, they melted and turned black. I'll never get him to take them out now and my beautiful greenhouse is ugly with black streaks running down the roof.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stick with the wood strips Don't waste your time with the foam closure strips, they will only leak no matter how tight you screw down the screws that are recommended for the roofing sheets. I replaced my roof 2 years ago with the foam strips instead of wood, big mistake. I have tried to tighten up the screws to stop leaks but all you end up doing is distorting the roof panels. My roof leaks more now at most of the screw penetrations then it did after Sandy had her way with it. I had wood strips before but they were destroyed when the old roof was removed.(ring shanked nails).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from workd as intended Good for sealing ends of metal roofing. Worked as advertised ... a little caulk helps

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good closures Closures have 2 options - plastic or foam. I prefer the foam to dampen the noise from wind. Costs are fair. My only complaint is that after 7 years the sun has caused the foam to deteriorate to an extent that replacement was necessary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have used the wooden closure strips for past projects and had problems with splitting. These worked great and were very easy to install. I had no problems with them and would highly recommend them!
