being that this is "galvanized" does galvanized in this application mean that it is rated for exterior use?

Want to use this and cut it to needed size to vertically connect landscape timbers (also using nuts/washers) in an outdoor project. Does the galvanized aspect of this product protect itself against the weather elements and resist rust? Similarly to galvanized lag screws and carriage bolts, where the galvanized entity protects them from rust.

For outdoor use, we recommend the stainless steel finish. Galvanized steel will provide a degree of protection, but ultimately over time, it will rust when used outdoors. And if the ends are cut, the steel will be bare and will rust more quickly than the finished steel.
