This bath tub is very well-built. I have previously purchased an acrylic bath tub that was also deep soaking, and the sides / bottom part flexed to a point where a misstep will cause a hole from a heel...etc. This tub, though it says fiberglass "appears" to be made of very hard and heavy plastic. there is no resin on the bottom and no small needle-like hairs or glass pores. I used a mortar bed, set it in place all by myself, it was easy to handle and set very well. Because it does not flex, once the mortar was set, it feels as if its made of cast iron, though only weighs about 70 lbs. The bottom part where the water fills is also two inches wider. The deep soaking part means that in a 30-inch width, there is a lot more water capacity and makes for an almost spa-like experience on the cheap. Well-built and made in the USA. I attached photos of the old shower and tub combo that was from 1990, and this new tub and tile makes for a total transformation. My wife and I did all the work, no contractors. I demolished the old shower, removed it, put in the new tub, and she did the tile. All items bought from Home Depot.Waiting for Moen Posi-Temp Method spout, shower handle, and shower head to come in today to finish off the job! Week's work.

Great for the price
Deep bath tub for this price! I also like the slope of the headrest. It did come with 4 quarter size imperfections inside the tub - they are light grey scuffs where the white seems to have rubbed off. We installed it anyway because we didn't have time to wait for another one. Also the first one we ordered came in cracked all over into little pieces. Can't believe they even showed us that. Happy overall, though.

Plastics
it gets two stars because it didn't arrive damaged. but I am not sure how long this tub will last or how well it will resist scratches or how loud the water hitting the tub will sound when you shower...but it's very plastic...like recycle plastic from pet bottles. it feels really cheap. I am debating if I should return this and just spend the money for a cast iron or just hope for the best. I wonder how come other reviewers didn't mention the very plastic feel to the tub...

great tub but non-slip bottom continues to have sand escape
I really like this tub. We used sikar self leveling concrete underneath to give it extra support/we did not use a ledger board and it is still super sturdy. My husband was installing the wall board around the tub and standing stradling both edges with no problems. Other reviews complained about it being plastic Like-i disagree. We had an old 70 year old cast iron tub which was rock solid but always cold to recline into. This tub is warm and feels like a mix of acrylic and fiberglass. I am confuswd because my tub description says it is veritek which i guess is a composite and could be fiberglass but this tub really is nothing like fiberglass so I’m guessing its acrylic and fiber combined, but really its neither totally plastic feel nor total fiberglass feel. It is light but strong enough. The depth is great. Seems to hold heat well also. My main complaint is no matter what i do there is still a fine layer of sand or grit every time i run a bath. I saw someone said to use something carbonated to rinse it out but i am going to call swan to see what they say. Very disturbing to have sandy (super fine) bath water. I think it is the anti slip coating coming off. Overall it is an excellent tub, worth the money. Btw-damaged tubs are generally the fault of the trucking company, the mover/transport company or the person Who bought it and shoved it into their car trunk or man handled it when they unloaded or installed it-not swan’s fault ...

Bottom cracked within a week of using it. When removed, paper thin, practically ripped as it was removed
