These knives come in a package you don’t need to trash; you can keep the knives in there when not in use. Each knife sits securely & perfectly in its own spot so if you don’t have a knife block or magnetic strip, this is a good way to keep them safe. There are THREE knives (the one picture I included makes it look like there are 6 but there are 3 as advertised). The knives are of good quality and well-balanced. Each knife is a single length of steel so you won’t have to worry about them coming apart. The handles are composite and smooth to the touch and fit comfortably in your hand, giving you a secure grip. The handle on the bread knife and the chef’s knife are both 5.5” long and the handle for the paring knife is 4.25” long. The paring knife blade is 3.5” long, The chef’s knife blade is 8” long and the bread knife’s blade is 8.5” long. The bread knife is serrated on both sides so cuts bread (even very soft loaves) easily. The blades are smooth (no nicks) and very sharp. It feels like you’re cutting through warm butter.

These knives appear to be well made. The blades are quite rigid and have a pleasing curved shape. My husband thinks the handles are plastic but they appear to have a smooth hard look, so who knows (see picture). Nevertheless, since they are indeed full tang and riveted, they need to be hand washed. Anything assembled of two different kinds of materials shouldn't be put in the dishwasher because different heat expansion rates will eventually cause them to crack or warp. They are very sharp. I am not sure how often they will need sharpening, but so far they have held up on my surfaces that I chop and dice on. I used it for cardboard, a plantain, and an apple. Each one cut through like butter. The one thing that is off-putting it that when I put them in my drawer that has the knife slots, the knives lean back, exposing the top of knife almost against the top of drawer.

3-Piece Assorted Knife Set I suffer from carpal tunnel pain and find kitchen chores more difficult than they used to be. I can highly recommend these knives which have helped my painful hands do the cutting needed to complete a recipe with half the effort, and half the pain. These knives have quickly become my favorites, because they so very easily slice through the toughest root vegetables, or tough rind of an acorn squash. I could not ask for better.

Now, here's a marketing gem. These knives, engineered in Switzerland, German Steel, Swiss Standards, and made in P.R.C. {China} Genius. But i hasten to add that the quality of these knives is excellent, excellent. The knives are balanced in the hand. My wife, was really impressed, she held each knife balanced on one finger. Not a big fan of P.R.C., but this knife set is truly the exception. Impressive set, with admirable quality. Oh the packaging is also well executed, good job all the way around.

I like the look and feel of these knives. I used the short paring knife to cut up some cooked chicken. I normally use a serrated knife (like a steak knife) for this task, but never again. The size and weight of the knife felt good in my hands. I weighed it and it is 3.25 ounces. The paring knife cut though the chicken like butter. I then tried the large serrated bread knife on a tomato. I sliced the tomato very thin and the bread knife was up to the task. The Use and Care instructions state that hand washing is recommended.

Swiss Diamond, best known for their non-stick cookware, is now offering these beautiful Prestige knives. These knives are a luxury for me...I don't use knives that often, like a lot of people do. That being said, I love having these for when I do. Features include ice hardening of the blade, a cryogenic hardening process that improves on traditional heat-treated hardening processes, & full tang handles, which are the most desirable...full tang means that the knife is one solid piece and the 2 handle pieces are pinned on to the blade, one on each side. This is the strongest of the 'tang' types. So, pretty sweet. That, combined with German engineering, is probably why they cost so much, compared to most others. These are my first full tang knives...you feel the difference right away, they're heavier & feel more solid. The handles are very ergonomic, & feel great in your hands. The blades are fine & very sharp. I decided to try all 3 knives with what I had handy to cut up...a tomato for salads, some lettuce for tacos, & a paczki I had in the fridge, just 'cause I like paczki's. Results varied. I could tell the chef's knife was sharper than what I've been using, & it did a fine job on the lettuce. The paring knife was really noticeable, once you start a cut, the knife just slides right down the tomato, no sawing necessary. Unbelievable, really. The bread knife & paczki?...not so much :)...gonna have to buy me a loaf to truly test it out. Just a note: I'm not sure why these shouldn't be washed in the dishwasher, they're very solid w/ heavy plastic handles...other than the fact that they cost a lot, & are fine & worthy of your hand-washing attention ;)......and they're right to suggest this is a good starter set...for me, it's all I really need.

The Swiss Diamond® knife set SDPKSET02 includes 8 inch chef’s knife, 3½ inch paring knife, 8½ inch bread knife. All have forged full tang construction for ruggedness and balance. The rounded handles are exceptionally comfortable to grip. The blades are a time-proven alloy (1.4116, X50CrMoV15) hardened to Rockwell C 57. The “German Steel” label on the blades indicates the alloy, not the country of manufacture (China). The alloy is not a super-hard exotic steel, but a practical choice—hard enough for sharpness retention, tough enough to resist edge chipping, easy to hone/sharpen, and corrosion resistant. Maintenance is easy. Keep a steel sharpening rod at hand for periodic honing. Hand wash and dry promptly after use. The handle butt end caps show the Swiss emblem. It would be useful to display the length/type of blade for quick selection from a knife storage block. The chef’s knife has a moderately curved edge, useful for slicing and rocking cuts. The partial bolster design enables sharpening of the complete blade edge from heel to point. The blade was sharp out of the box. Swiss Diamond recommends a 20 degree sharpening angle. The paring knife has the same blade alloy and handle style. The bread knife blade has a double-sided serration, useful for cutting hard crusts, melons, and squash rinds. Limited lifetime warranty for original purchaser. Save the purchase receipt. Warranty coverage excludes broken blades and tips unless caused by manufacturing defects as judged by Swiss Diamond. The warranty claim process requires the customer to send the knife prepaid for inspection and approval. Country of manufacture is not identified on the knives—only on the box: P.R.C. (People’s Republic of China). Excellent quality of my samples reflects thoughtful design and care in manufacturing. Recommended.

These knives are very sharp!!! Be careful and make sure you have a secure place to keep them. These are the sharpest knives I ever had. The material that they are constructed with is a very high grade German steel and aneeling process to make the steel very tough. The swiss daimond company warrantys these knives for life of normal use. If you notice in the picture below, the onion was cut paper thin, that is the sign of a good sharp knife.

This is a gorgeous, well-made knife set that felt nice and balanced in the hand. It has a nice weight to it, but doesn't feel too heavy and the blades were all quite sharp. I have small hands and the chef's knife felt a bit large and hard to control, yet the paring knife felt a bit small. I used the chef's knife to cut a butternut squash, as this is usually one of the hardest things for me to cut. It did well overall; however, it seems to cut better using a sawing motion versus a chopping motion. It has a bit of trouble chopping through something as thick as a squash, though it made quick work of the onion. The directions do say to use a rocking or slicing motion with these knives and they are not to come in contact with a hard surface, as this may damage the knife. This would be an excellent first set of knives for someone just starting out in the kitchen and wanting to start a nice knife set.

Very nice knives, and made well. The knives have a very nice aesthetic appeal. The ergonomics are also nice, feel good in my hands. Very sharp. Not sure how long they will stay sharp, but I'm guessing they will hold and edge nicely. The packaging is very durable and also great for a gift. These are made in China, however these are not lacking any quality.
