Q:The dimensions in the description says the height of this light is 10.16 in. It looks more like 2-3 inches though. Can anyone confirm the actual dimensions of the fixture?

The Sylvania Brand, 13 in. 120-Volt White Integrated LED Dimmable Flush Mount, 3500K, with Germ Fighting Technology worked perfectly for replacing the old Edison bulb fixture in our laundry room. This light fixture hits every aspect for the light fixture we needed. Light color or temperature was important, as we like utility areas illuminated by cooler temperatures. And evenly diffused light to eliminate shadows. Instant-on with no warmup like older CFL bulbs, low current draw for energy efficiency, designed for moist environments with germ and odor fighting properties afforded by a Titanium Dioxide coating on the lens. It actually took me longer to remove the old light fixture than to install the new Sylvania light fixture.

My review is of the Sylvania 13” Flush Mount LED ceiling light with Germ Fighting Technology. I used this in a basement hall. It is easy to mount. Has 3 wires to connect, hot-neutral-ground. The base of the fixture is thin metal. The plastic lens or globe is extremely light weight. I struggled a bit to separate it from the base because I felt like I had to be really gentle when twisting it to remove so I could access the mounting screws. The light is a nice improvement over what I had. Looks nice and is very bright. I really can't comment on the germ and smell fighting effectiveness. According to the box, picture attached, one light has minimal effect on germs. To be very effective there must be 8 or more lights operating in a room. Just based on it's looks and function as a flush mount ceiling light I would recommend it. The germ fighting is a nice plus, even if it is only a small one.

This LED ceiling light gives 1260 lumens of Bright White light, using just 18 watts of electricity. It also “fights germs and odors” says its package. The package says it is a germicidal light. It’s easy to install, just connect the black, the white and the green wires to the wires in your ceiling junction box, then fit the light’s metal mounting base to the two junction box mounting bolts, tighten the bolts, and then attach the plastic light diffuser by turning it a bit. The light comes on instantly. It is silent. The light is suitable for damp locations, such as a bathroom. It’s dimmable.The package says it will last 50K hours. It’s 13” in diameter and just 2” high. I like its minimalist look. The Sylvania website says: “SYLVANIA LightSHIELD Technology is a proprietary nanoscopic and transparent coating applied to the lens or diffuser of lamps and luminaires. The visible light from the lamp or luminaire activates this coating and produces reactive radicals which in turn breaks down the organic substances on its surface and begins the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) degradation and disinfection process. SYLVANIA LightSHIELD helps fights many common airborne germs and decomposes odors including: Escherichi coli (E coli), H1N1 (Flu), Staphylococcus aureus, Methichillin Resistant staphylococcus aureus, Aspergillus niger spore, Household Odors. In addition, SYLVANIA LightSHIELD purifies the air by decomposing offensive gases and odors. The germicidal properties work with light and interact with germs and odors that are airborne, not on surfaces or skin.” The website says that the diffuser coating is a catalyst and is not consumed in germ fighting and will last many years. This is a bright, functional, efficient ceiling light.

I was looking for a new fixture to replace the old builder grade light in our laundry room when this LED fixture caught my eye. It uses only 18 watts to replace the light given off by a 100 watt incandescent bulb. It's low profile, easy to install and gives off a nice medium-temperature light. It's a very light-weight fixture and is rated to last 50,000 hours and has a 5 year warranty, which is a nice benefit with new technology. The real draw, though, is its germ and odor fighting capability ...I've never seen a normal light fixture with such ability and had to give it a try, especially in the laundry room!

We needed some new lighting in our bathroom and so we selected this SYLVANIA INTEGRATED LED DIMMABLE FLUSH MOUNT GERM-FIGHTING LIGHT, available from HOME DEPOT; this SYLVANIA GERM-FIGHTING LIGHT was easy to install, especially since it had great and clear instructions, as well as all necessary electrical connectors and accessories needed to install this SYLVANIA GERM-FIGHTING LIGHT were included in the package; this SYLVANIA INTEGRATED LED GERM-GIHTING LIGHT is very bright and lit up the whole bathroom, most likely because of its 13" circumference, as well as it has LED lights, which is also a great feature as it uses only 18W of energy, instead of 100W (which would be the Wattage if it was not LED); another great feature of this SYLVANIA INTEGRATED GERM-FIGHTING LIGHT is that it has a germ-fighting feature; only one slight complaint is that we found the base to be somewhat flimsy, but once installed, that no longer poses a problem - we are very pleased that we selected this SYLVANIA GERM-FIGHTING LED LIGHT and highly recommend it

This Sylvania “Light Shield” LED ceiling light is a 13 inch round flush mount ceiling light which has a nice, unobtrusive and utilitarian look which is perfect for a bathroom, laundry, or any other area where you want a light which does its job without using a lot of downward ceiling space. It is very low profile thanks to its white base and white plastic light lens which, when combined, are only 2 inches in depth (see picture). It does come with wire caps for connecting to your ceiling junction box wiring (see picture). It is also very lightweight so it is easy to install. Sylvania states in its labeling that it is a “germ-fighting” light, but I also liked it due to is size, its ease of installation, and its energy saving, using only 18 watts as an equivalent to a 100 watt light. I highly recommend it for many reasons!

Wanted this to replace the outdated can light above our master bath shower. I was shocked at how lightweight this light was. It made it very easy to install this on the ceiling. All exposed areas are plastic. 3 separate LED lights strips form a rectangular light source. The light is beautifully diffused through the cover and lights up the large shower perfectly. Install was super simple. Very happy with the light.

A Germ and Odor fighting light ,that's awesome . SYLVANIA 13 IN. 120-VOLT WHITE INTEGRATED LED DIMMABLE FLUSH MOUNT 3500K WITH GERM FIGHTING TECHNOLOGY . This light looks good, nice design and its plenty bright. I have no idea if it is fighting germs and odor. I want to believe it is killing Germs and Odors but I have no way to know. It is a decent light to put in my laundry room or maybe my garage. Now what I don't like, the plastic lens is very flimsy ( don't drop it ) and when mounting the light the metal bends very easily when (lightly ) tightening the screws. Its an OK light for the price.

This fixture is light weight, gives bright light, and was easily installed. After removing the old fixture the metal base of this light twists onto two screws on the ceiling electrical box. The light cover then twists onto the base, with the cover notches going over the three pins inside the base ring. I appreciate that this light does not protrude into my ceiling electrical box but only requires three small wiring connections. Looks great, easy to install, and dimmable.
