Questions & Answers

Do they work in enclosed fixtures?

Most of my fixtures are enclosed and I don't want them to get too hot.
Asked by: Mickey
Most of the answers are DIY users and WRONG! Incandescents and CFLs actually get brighter with heat (enclosed fixtures work great for this). LEDs get dimmer and have a shorter life when exposed to higher temperatures than designed. And for everyone out there that says that LEDs do not produce heat are dead WRONG. An LED is similar to a computer processor... PRODUCE HEAT AND MUST STAY COOL. This bulb is 10W and based on current LED efficiency roughly 7-8 watts of that is getting converted directly to heat. Only 2-3 watts is emitted as visible light from the bulb. THIS IS THE BIGGEST FALLACY WITH LEDS. THEY ALL PRODUCE HEAT AND MUST STAY COOL. This product will likely function in a enclosed fixture but will definitely have lower output and a shorter lifespan than if used in an open fixture. Answer to the original posted question is: Usually the box will state if it is suitable for use in a totally enclosed fixture. Open downlights are generally ok since there is still air movement. If there is nothing on the box or website, contact the manufacturer to determine suitable fixture installation.

Is this bulb dimmable?

Specs say "N" One review indicates that it dims well.
Asked by: Punk
Not that I am aware of. The packaging should say so if they are.

Asked by: Sadie
150 watt = 2600 lumens. These are 800 lumens (60 Watt). you might find this helpful. http://www.clarkhoward.com/watt-to-lumen-lightbulb-conversion/

Manufacturer

Where are these manufactured? And I notice in a lot of your specifications you do not say. Most of us want USA made items. Thanks
Asked by: usrangerbutts

Customer Reviews

TCP 60W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A19 Non-Dimmable LED Light Bulb (3-Pack) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seemingly Good Value I've used this light bulb for a couple of weeks. The attached photo shows the LED bulb on the left and two regular incandescent bulbs on the right. There is a SLIGHT hesitation from the moment the switch is turned on and when the light comes on. To me, it is not a problem. The 60 watt light is a white light that provides more than enough light for my likes.. It gets warm at the base, but it can be easily unscrewed immediately after turning off - no cool down needed. Also VERY much preferred to the mercury bulbs that can contaminate landfills. I am pleased to know that I am saving electrical costs every month. 6.5 watts compared to 60 watts is a huge saving. it will take a while to recover the initial cost of the bulb, but not having to constantly replace a bulb after being left in the dark is a plus as well. Couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Mother didn't know the difference! These are known to diffuse light more like a normal incandescent bulb than other LED bulbs. While I can not confirm that as I have not tried other LED bulbs, these definitely match incandescent light bulbs in the way they spread light. The color is slightly different when compared next to a regular soft white 60w incandescent, but it is very minuscule. I placed them in a hanging light above my mother's kitchen sink that usually has two 60w incandescent bulbs and my mother didn't notice. Compared to a GE reveal these have much more yellow color. The three pack for 23.99 was the best deal I have found and I like that the company is from Northeast Ohio. I wish Home Depot would keep these in stock at the store and online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just what you want from a light bulb....... it works right out of the box. i bought 108 and every single one worked. with CFL's i would have seen 10% not work right out of the box. one even fell off the porch (three stories high) into the pine straw below and still worked when i screwed it in. these worked in vanity lights, garage door openers, porch lights, recessed can lights, ceiling fan light kits, lamp holders and ceiling mounted lights. and now i don't have to complain to my wife when she leaves all the lights on

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast and nice glow, good value for the money Turns on in an instant - much faster than the two CFL's. Nice warm glow & eco-nice See image to compare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I had bought more Got this 3 pack on sale for $20 w/free shipping. I have several of the same fixtures in my basement, so I tried one of these, a florescent and a standard 60 watt incandescent. The LED was just a bright, or brighter, and provided good color a light spread. This was my 1st LED bulb replacement, so I was cautious., but these were great. If I had known I would have bought many more. Keep in mind these are NOT dimmable, which didn't matter for my application, but might for yours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Am Impressed! I got these on a special offer of a 3-pack for $20, so the price for an LED bulb was very good. I am VERY impressed with the appearance. The brightness for a "60 watt"/10 watt at 800 lumens seems actually very bright, and the soft-white color is warm and perfect. I have lots of CFLs and these will definitely be changed to LEDs from this manufacturer. I hadn't heard of them before, but the product is top notch so far. Check back in 22 years on the longevity! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warranty support I was really excited when this 3 pack went on sale and I could buy the bulbs for less than ten bucks a piece. After calculating our usage and costs, the bulbs will pay for themselves in about a year. Now on to that long term savings that LED's claim to offer. These claim a 10 year warranty. That is great, if the company stands behind it. So far they do. Out of the pack I had one bulb that "burnt out" after its second use. I contacted TCP and sent the bulb serial number to them and model number, then 2 weeks later I received a home depot gift card with an apology that the bulb had not lived up to my expectations. It is great that they are giving me the option to use the return value at my discretion, and I am glad to say that I will use the gift card towards the purchase of another 3 pack from TCP. The other two I have work wonderfully and have a nice bright yet warm light output. They are used in my kitchen, which is easily the most used room in the house. I tell everyone I know about these energy saving bulbs, especially people with light fixtures located in inconvenient places. That is another benefit to these long lasting bulbs.
