A: HI Doug, Our Shades are made of HDPE, (High Density Polyethylene) the same resilient material used to produce heavy-duty storage totes. Technology has found a way to turn that material into a monofilament and tape to allow for a woven construction resulting in a long-lasting strong, pre-stretched shade that will protect you from 85% of harmful UVA and UVB rays.
A: We recommend for either our 4x4 or 6x6 brackets not going further than an 8’ height. With our 4x4 brackets, the height will increase to 8'4" and with the 6x6 brackets the height will increase to 8'6". We recommend not going higher for safety and stability reasons. Some customers have gone further, without incident, but did so at their own discretion.
A: Hi Al, Thank you for reaching out to us. Our Pergola kits do not include the wood beams, and the beauty of our systems is that it allows any kind of lumber that will fit the brackets to be used. Any dry, straight lumber that fits our brackets and is strong enough to build a pergola can be used. We suggest using cedar, however pressure treated, engineered, tiger wood and even IPE will work. By design, our products allow you the freedom to choose your preferred wood to suit your build and budget. We also suggest taking a SOLO bracket with you when purchasing the lumber for testing fit. The beams can run either direction as you decide the position of your pergola. Please feel free to reach out with any further questions or concerns.
A: Hello, Thanks for reaching out, the top rafter brackets for the 6x6 pergola kit will require 2x6 wood posts.
