AnswerEPDM is a synthetic, non toxic rubber that is also used to waterproof flat roofs. It does not contaminate rain water run off. EPDM is also used in flashing and waterproof seals. It is mixed with other materials to make soft decking for pools and playgrounds.
would this make good as a cover on a flat piece of plywood used on a deer stand ?

Seems durable. I hosed off the pond side...
Seems durable. I hosed off the pond side to remove the powder coating. It's pretty heavy duty in that I was able to put it in place, pile on the rocks to hold it in place and then pressed it down to keep it in place. No noticeable leaks with all that handling.

I have used this liner for two weeks in a 160-gallon koi pond. The EPDM liner is thicker and more pliable than the previous liner I used. The liner did not puncture when I placed several heavy rocks on it that weigh over 50 pounds. The liner did not harm my Koi. I had to clean the liner before filing the pond, since the liner was covered with a powdered substance. The material is very durable and was easy to clean.
