Is this strong enough for 750 gal pond with small waterfall 2 feet above water level?

Asked by Tracy June 30, 2017

Depends on how much flow you desire. My pond is approx. 60 gallons with pumping distance of 12' and approx. 30" fall. Sounds to me like you would need pump with more pumping capacity.

Easily, this would recirculate the entire volume in about 1-1/2 hours.

It has been my experience that when the fuse keeps blowing, the filter on the pump, or attached to it, is overly clogged. I am using the same pump you have, and haven't had problems, but mine will shut itself off when I haven't cleaned things up in a while. I've had my pond for about 12 years, and this has held true for most of the pumps I've had. Good luck with yours!

What is the Watt & AMP usage of this Pump?

I'm not sure of the wattage, but it's been great so far. My pond is only a landscaping pond, but it seems to get clogged a lot less than my other tries. I've been very pleased with the power to keep my waterfall going.

For best instructions on maintaining a Koi pond we recommend researching Koi fish to better determine the proper care for them. As a water gardening manufacturer we create the products for your pond but the care of the fish we do not specialize in. Below is a great link on how to care for Koi fish in your pond. We do however recommend having a filter in the pond since Koi fish do create lots of waste. This will help filter out that waste which will lead to a healthier eco system for your pond! It would also be recommended to have a water testing kit to make sure all of the levels in the water are in the conditions required to have fish. http://www.watergarden.org/Pond-Info/Fish-Care-Feeding

Correct head spec

Asked by Mike October 8, 2015

Answer

Hi Mike, The older generation of the DD11560 had 14.3 feet of head, the newest generation only does 9 feet but still pumps the same gallon per hour. You can give us a call at 866-869-5300 to book an order for an older generation pump if this is what your needing. Thanks.

Did its job for about 2 years ( 24/7 use). I'm searching to replace right now as it just froze up on me this morning. This was the 3rd pump I have had to replace in the past 6 years. It averages about 2 years per pump. Why can't they build a 10 year pump? Pretty irritating to keep replacing.

Ran Great 6 Years
I have this pump for the last 6 years, and it ran flawless, Now it needs a new impeller and its not available. ( Bummer.) If the impeller was available I would recommend this pump, But since the part is not available can't recommend. I have the DD11560 pump w/prefilter going into a outer beckett filter w/ ultraviolet light and it keeps the water crystal clear all summer, no green water. Myrtle & Danna are very healthy & happy turtles

Reduce the price of pump when I have to buy one every year. Keeping the maintance is done but still quits about once a year. I am on my 3rd. one now! I had aquariums all my life and never had trouble with pumps then. My outside fish pond is very important to me.

The pump only sends water about 6 ft away through 1 inch tubing a total height of 2 and 1/2 ft, seems to be a noticeable difference in the volume but it is the same make and model number. Just seems to be somehow less volume. I believe it's the completely different housing and configuration with the inlet screen and such that diminishes the available volume. Have no idea about the internals regarding impeller? This will be the third pump of the same model and hopefully I get the same three plus years of continuous runtime
