Hello, If your intent is to try to attach this directly to a garden hose (without the adapters) this will not work. The threaded end of the adapter is almost double the diameter of the garden hose. You can however cut off the ends of the hose and use that on the adapter if it is at least 1/2 inch id. Joe

Answer

To use this product, you will need to attach it to the outlet of a pump for water to pass through it. This UV Clarifier connects to a pump outlet with a 1/2, 3/4, or 1 in. ID tubing. The distance the clarifier is from the pump does not matter as long as water continues to flow through the clarifier. Tubing can also be connected to the outlet of the clarifier to feed water into a water feature. We hope this helps!

Hello. We thank you for your feedback. Our UV Pond Clarifier is compatible with our pond pumps ranging from 330-560 GPH (gallons per hour). If you use anything stronger then this the water is traveling too quickly through the light not giving it enough time to kill the algae bacteria and clearing the water. You may also check to see if the bulb is working by following these steps. Make sure the unit is unplugged. Remove large locking ring from the product, remove lamp holder from black shell casing, make sure glass tube is over the bulb and not stuck in the black shell casing, place glass tube over the bulb, plug in the unit to an outlet, press firmly on the glass tube, you will hear a clicking noise, the bulb should light up. This product is covered by a 1 year limited warranty with proof of purchase. If the problem continues contact our Customer Care Team at 1-888-412-6001, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM to 5 PM ET. We hope this helps.

Saved my goldfish pond!
After a year of dumping algaecide into the water that killed off my snails, this UV filter turned thick-as-pea-soup green water into murky in less than a week. I am not being facetious, it was a huge improvement! The water is clearer every day and I'm sure the fish are breathing easier.

It took some time getting it set up. I could not tell that the light was working until it was dark out. It was also hard to get the connections tight enough to stop leaking. Now that it is set up, it is working well.

Hello Brook. We are sorry to hear the UV Pond Clarifier is not working as expected. It can take up to a week or more to clear depending on the water clarity. Also, we recommend using a pump from 330-560 GPH in order for the clarifier to work properly. If you're using a pump stronger then the recommended the water will basically travel too fast through the UV light not allowing it enough time to kill the bacteria. We hope this helps!
