Product Overview

The TOTO UltraMax II One-Piece Elongated 1.28 GPF Universal Height Toilet with CeFiONtect projects TOTO’s mark of excellence: “People Planet Water.” The TOTO's UltraMax II features a sleek, one-piece design that will immediately beautify the appearance of your bathroom. The one-piece design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also offers the benefit of being easier to clean versus a two-piece toilet. By removing the gap between the tank and bowl, we eliminate the hiding place for dirt and debris. An additional benefit of the one-piece toilet is that there is no threat of leaks from bolts or gaskets that can occur in two-piece toilets. The TOTO UltraMax II features TOTO’s Tornado Flush, a hole-free rim design with dual-nozzles that creates a centrifugal washing action that assists in rinsing the bowl more efficiently. This version of the TOTO UltraMax II includes CeFiONtect, a layer of exceptionally smooth glaze that prevents particles from adhering to the ceramic. This feature, coupled with Tornado Flush, assists to reduce the frequency of toilet cleanings, minimizing the usage of water, harsh chemicals, and time required for cleaning. The TOTO UltraMax II is designed in TOTO’s Universal Height, which allows for a more comfortable seat position across a wide range of users.

No, low water pressure will just mean it fills a little slower but even then it only holds about 1.5 gal so that won't be a big deal. The flushing action isn't based on waterline pressure. Love this toilet. I ended up buying three of them.

What do I need to measure to see if it fits in my bathroom

Hello Yogi, You can view the spec sheet on the TOTO USA website to see overall dimensions. You will need to make sure that your rough-in is 12 inches. This is the distance from the center of the mounting bolts and drain to the wall, not including baseboard. If you need additional assistance, please reach out to us directly. Our Technical Support team is standing by to take your call. They can be reached at 1-888-295-8134 between 8am - 8pm Mon - Fri EST and press 4 when prompted. We also have live chat on the TOTO USA website. I hope this helps and thank you for choosing TOTO.

Great Toilet!
This is our second Toto with the first one being a 1.6 GPF model. I was initally skeptical about the 1.28 GPF cleaning ability but was pleasently surprised by how strong the suction is. The siphon design produces a strong force that pulls all the solids out, downside is that it's a bit noisy, and the Tornado flush washes the bowl very clean. I have not had to do 2 flush yet. I installed the toilet myself 2 weeks ago and I recommend going with the Sani Seal ring instead of the regular wax ring, so much cleaner and flexibale. More expensive but worth it. The fill valve is noiser than other brands but this toilet is in the guest bath so it does not bother me or the wife. The included soft closing seat is comfortable but it slides sideways a bit. This model comes in universal height which is about 1" higher than standard, more comfortable. Except for the seat, very happy with this toilet.

Overall good design and engineering Very good looking toilet. Installed about a month ago. Note that it has a very long base. The back edge went right up to my quarter round trim with no space to spare. It is heavy, as all one piece toilets are. Best to have two people to lift and place/guide. The drain valve is not a simple flap but more of a dropping plastic cylinder similar to a Koehler. I actually prefer a flap for the simplicity, but I wanted this model. The rotational jets or nozzles are interesting and seem to work well. Not a super strong "jet" but just a swirl. And they are large enough to never clog (not that this has been a problem with my water). The special coated surface seems to work well. Is it fantastic-ly better?... not necessarily, but maybe better. Sometimes 2 flushes are required to clean things up. Totos will clog and I clogged this one already. I already have a Toto Drake and I was always impressed with the very effective flush from such a little amount of water. And the Drake has clogged a few times also. The UltraMax I (compared to the ll - the one I bought) is probably just as good, and I'm not sure if the extra almost $200 (for the II) is worth it. I just didn't want to look back and say "Maybe I shulda' got the newer one?". Overall, Toto makes a very good toilet that's actually made in the US. I think the engineering and design gap (between brands) is narrowing now after the low flush toilets have been on the market a while. You probably would get the same effectiveness from a Koehler or American Standard. Parts for Toto are readily available, so that shouldn't be a reason not to buy. I kind of based my search on negative reviews from other buyers, for other brands. But, you do need to filter everything you read and see on the internet, of course.

Our plumber recommended the Toto brand to replace our current toilet that was beyond repair. We went to several plumbing stores in our area and were so overwhelmed by the numerous amount of toilets to choose from. We decided to research on the Toto website and was visually pleased with the simple lines of this model. No one carried it in their stores. Home Depot could order it for us, and if we shipped it to the store for pickup we wouldn’t be charged a shipping fee. The cost of the toilet was priced higher than Home Depot at all stores that we visited, and would charge us additional shipping charges no matter where we shipped it. We went with Home Depot, buying somewhat sight unseen. Our plumber has installed it and we can’t be happier. We love the simplicity of the toilet, that it uses next to no water, the quietness of the flush, the height of the toilet, actually we love everything about it. Also, kudos to Home Depot for their customer service.

It has only been about 30 days since I installed 2 UltraMax II in my home, so far, I like the product. The quick flushing, refill, the styling, the height of the seat, all are satisfactory. I have not noticed any water leaking to the bowl due to the flushing valve or mechanism. I wonder how long before I have to replace the parts. This is one item that I have not been able to find answers to in reviewing Toto toilets. The other question will be if Toto parts are superior or similar to 3rd party replacement brands. The flushing and refill are a bit loud. But the time intervals are so short that I can live with it. On one UltraMax, I have replaced the seat with my existing Brondell CS1000 bidet, and it fits quite well. I choose the Sedona Beige color, even it costs +$100 more, because it matches with the overall color scheme of my bathrooms. I have not regretted the choice. For an item that you use frequently on a daily basis, as well as for long term enjoyment, color coordination is important to me.

Be Courteous or buy a plunger
Well the government came to "help" and made it so we can only get 1.28 gallon flush toilets in Atlanta now (because of Alabama and Florida complaining about us using up all of the water). I've had Toto 1.6 flush toilets in my previous home and they pretty much *never* stopped up. I've had this 1.28 for a couple of months and it's already stopped up a couple of times. This is no fault of Toto, so I'd still buy another one. 1.28 gallons is just not enough water to flush a generous deposit and TP down. So I recommend you let your household members know and put a sign in the guest bathroom that reads: "Please perform courtesy flush after #2 and before adding toilet paper" And now the government has helped by taking us from 1.6 gallons per #2 to 2.56 gallons... I'm not a plumber, but I'm also dubious of sending a lot of solid materials with insufficient water down a plumbing system in an older house with old cast iron pipes. Yes, the government will tout that you will save $90 per year for a family of 4 per year (on Roswell's web site) if you replace all of your toilets, but they don't account for a $500 plumber visit to unclog the sewer line every few years. Installation was easy, but because this is a one-piece toilet, going up stairs is a two person job. I'd recommend keeping it in the box until you have it close to where you are going to install it. Toto has always had great packaging and even with the rough handling you know it got along the way, toilet and box were still intact. I like the one-piece toilet because they are easy to clean up and have less places for dirtiness to collect.

Hello TechSavvyRemodeler, I am sorry to hear that you are frustrated with your TOTO Ultramax II. The Ultramax II is one of our best performing toilets, despite the lower water consumption. There are many factors that can cause poor performance in a toilet, and you are correct that many older homes were designed when toilets used 3 or even as much as 7 gallons of water per flush. We hope that you will allow us the opportunity to help troubleshoot any potential issue that may be causing low performance. Our Technical Support team is standing by to take your call. They can be reached at techsupport@toto.com or call 1-888-295-8134 between 8am - 8pm Mon - Fri EST and press "4" when prompted. We also have live chat on the TOTO USA website. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we want to thank you for taking the time to leave a review and let us know your thoughts. We hope to hear from you soon and thank you for choosing TOTO. TOTOUSA

Great product! Worth the cost! No clogs! I tried the Kohler Santa Rosa toilet returned it because of the mis-shaped front mfg defect. Design suggestions for Toto.No top slope lid; this is where you want the air freshener. I would reduce the totals weight from 110 to 100lbs having curve at base.

I waited several months to review this to get some run time on it. Easy to install one piece without a separate tank. I had a plumber install it to make sure wax ring and base sealed without movement on limestone floor. On both installations the fill valve jumped and sputtered and the plumber pulled them out to swap a new fluidmaster ProSeries. He noted he had given feedback to Toto on these. When I called Toto tech support they told me their design is specific to the fill/flush mechanism and it will change the bowl level. I replaced the Toto fill valve 10 minute labor and it works great. I think the units have to equalize and lubricate the rubber parts with water after 5 flushes it works as it should, so give it a chance before meddling with it. I like the patented CeFiontect surface self cleaning flush, makes this the super particle collider of flush toilets. Unlike other water efficient products, this actually works.
