I don't think it will help. N300 Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender only works for WiFi.

      Answer This Question

      no

      By|May 6, 2023

Theoretically yes - however, the Range Extender needs to be receiving a suitably strong signal from your Wi-Fi router to provide the attached network device with adequate connectivity. If you have any other questions, please feel free to e-mail USSupportTeam@TP-Link.com and we'll gladly follow up. Thank you, TP-Link Support

          Answer This Question

If the question you are asking is can you plug a power strip/surge protector into its outlet, yes, as long as you dont exceed the maximum wattage of the outlet you can. I dont recall what its rated but I'd say no more than 1000 watts - or about 10A of load total.

          By|May 5, 2023

Yes, you can, so long as you do not exceed the outlet's maximum wattage load.

            Answer This Question

I don't know about spectrum internet, i am using CenturyLink. My CenturyLink modem is is my computer room. i am using N300 outside in my motorcycles garage which is about 25 to 30 feet in door and i don't have any problems with it.

It does work with Spectrum, but it’s the router type that is more important, not the service. Set up was easy. Not intended to be plugged in outside however the effects of the stronger signal may work outside. The lights on the extender and provided instructions make it fairly dummy proof to set up... you can’t be too close to your existing router and not too far away. The light on the extender lets you know when you are at a right distance. For me that was a floor down and opposite side of house. I am happy with the purchase. Works best with a router that has a WPS button that you can push in, that is part of the connecting process.

              By|May 5, 2023

Yes. It’s an extender so it will work with most/all routers.

Yes the product is compatible with netgear and vast majority of routers and if you cannot connect via wps it has its own standalone setup so you can manually connect this product over Wi-Fi.

                    Answer This Question

There is no easy, absolute answer to your question. There are too many unknown variables for everyone's location and/or placement of the Wi-Fi Range Extender. In particular any obvious obstacles, walls, trees, and any other structures. Easily expands wireless coverage at a push of range extender button, so this feature may still be of help to you.

I have not noticed any change whatsoever after 2 weeks of use, which was a big disappointment. I have tried placing it in different outlets throughout the house and it didn't change the outcome. Not saying this is a bad product, it just didn't work for me.

                      Easy to set up
I was a bit worried about setting up the TP-LINk N300 UNIVERSAL WI-FI RANGE EXTENDER as I'm not a computer geek at all. It turns out that my router also doesn't have the quick set up WPS-button, which made me worry even more. But the I noticed tat the directions show a option without WPS and I closely followed the easy and few steps, and - tada - I was connected. There is one thing that I haven't been able to solve yet. They claim the device can do up to 300 Mbps, my WiFi supplies around 40 Mbps, but I can only get about 1 Mbps from the extender, not sure why.

Economical way to extend wi-fi range or connect an ethernet device to a local network
The TP-Link Model TL-WA860RE Wi-Fi Range Extender is a compact unit that plugs into any outlet. It has a pass through plug in the front so you don’t lose the use of the outlet to power the unit. To operate, you simply plug it in, wait for the signal indictor, push the link button on your wi-fi router, and wait for it to link to the router. Once linked, you can move it to any location within range and it will relink to the router. It has a signal indicator to help guide your placement. This is an easy and effective way to address a weak spot in your home wi-fi network. I used the TP Link to improve the connection to a video doorbell. It was weak before, and after installing the extender, it was good. Helped also improve the link to my garage door openers. The unit operates at 2.5 Ghz and claims transfer speed of up to 300 Mbps. Another nice feature is if you have a device, like a blu ray player or gaming console and you want to connect to the network and it’s not wireless ready, and don’t have an Ethernet port handy, this device has one! Just connect the Ethernet cord (included) to the unit and the device you want to connect and you will have internet access. Overall, it is an easy to use and economical device to extend or strengthen the working range of your home Wi-Fi network.

Just plug and play..... Great new Wi-Fi extender
The wall plug range extender is designed to conveniently extend the coverage and improve the signal strength of your wireless network. It turns your ‘dead zones into connected zones, helping you keep all kinds of mobile devices, media players RING doorbells, air filtration systems, and personal computers connected to Wi-Fi with a reliable connection. Once connected with an existing router, you can simply unplug and plug the Range Extender back in anywhere without the need to configure it again. Its integrated power socket ensures that no power outlet goes to waste. An added feature that I have not seen before is the extra plug-in outlet on the front of the unit for any additional needs. Users can easily extend wireless coverage at a push of the WPS button on their router followed by the Range Extender button on the side of this unit. When all the lights are green, it's a GO! Easy to use and easy to understand.

Simple & Easy To Setup WiFi Range Extender
I received this item as part of the Home Depot Seeds reviewer program in return for this unbiased review. I selected this product for this month's items since the wireless signal is lacking in a couple areas of my home. It is so bad in the bedroom that the wife continues to use our cell data primarily despite the fact we have cable internet that is twice as fast. When I received the product, I inspected it to ensure it was undamaged and all package contents were present. Then I checked the instructions provided in the package and found they were the Quick Install Instructions and not the full product manual available in PDF form on TP-Link's website. The odd part is that the Quick Install guide gives instructions for GUI configuration that are buggy at best. In the end, I had to link the range extender to my older wireless router with WPS button since my TP-Link EAP320 Access Point does not have a WPS button. This was one of three reasons for this product getting 4 out of 5 stars instead of a perfect score. 1. WPS function required to connect WiFi Range Extender to existing wireless router (not AP compatible?) 2. Range Extender appears to only extend a single band of WiFi signal and single SSID (based on the single time I was able to get the GUI configuration to work). 3. Wired LAN connection from laptop to Range Extender is extremely buggy, only allowing me to get to the device GUI login screen one time. After testing the reset function, this login screen failed to load during attempts for the next 40 minutes. Overall, if you have a standard wireless router like 99.9% of households in the U.S., this product will be perfect for you. If however you are running a wireless access point (WAP) that doesn't have WPS, you're likely to end up throwing this product into the nearest garbage can. Of course, if you're already running a WAP, you could just as easily get another WAP to extend your network.

Works, but take the time to read the instructions
I was having troubles getting my phone to connect to the wifi when I was in the nursery in the middle of the night rocking a crying baby (I was using an app to time feedings and other things and needed wifi). We have had problems connecting other things to our wireless router before because we have an oddball provider because we live in the country, but this extender connected on the first try. I moved it to a hallway outlet about halfway between the nursery and the router, but it was telling me it was too close to the router. I ended up with it in my second bathroom, which is only frustrating because I had to give up one outlet in there (the extender has an outlet on it, but it uses up two spaces when you plug it in and it's just weird having an electronic thing plugged in on the bathroom counter). BUT I went from 1 bar in the nursery to full bars! When I moved the extender each time it picked up on my router right away and let me know if I was in a good location. NOTICE: I was extremely frustrated at first that I wasn't getting any better signal. It took me a few days to realize I had to select the extender from the wifi list, and my phone wasn't automatically connecting to it. Once I figured this out it worked great! Very happy with the easy installation, and was such a simple way to extend out signal into a part of the house where it wasn't reaching before.

Setup was quick for this item but performance was spotty. I found that going through a couple of walls and up a floor, the unit had difficulty maintaining the network. I will be returning it after a couple of weeks evaluation.
