Excellent project 'pens'
The markers here are excellent. They write on everything I tried them on, and show up clearly without smudging. The pencil is also good, though I feel it was less useful for the project I was working on (plumbing in a whole-house filter) than the markers were. I love that all the "pens" have a clip-on holster. This makes is easy to pull out and be ready to write with one hand, and gives you an easy place to put it back (hopefully without writing on your clothes). The markers all worked as good or better than the well known permanent marker brand. The pencil has a very thick led, which makes it decently strong, and the point holds up fairly well. The included led sharpener on the holster is a very thoughtful touch. Overall, I have only good things to say about this product.

Impressed with markers
The pens & pencils were very nicely packaged and secure. The pencil and lead are nice and are not breaking at all yet. Seems very solid and quality. I am generally more likely to put a standard pencil in the hat, but this pencil is too thick to put in a hat. The markers have high quality ink and seems to be very consistent marking. The clips on all markings items seems high quality and thick. I don't expect them to break

Sturdy mechanical pencil
I've tried many different marking tools for wood working, from a regular #2 pencil, to plastic and metal bodied mechanical pencils and even those big flat pencils. Depending on what you need, accuracy or durability, one of those can fit the bill. however, if you want durability and accuracy, this Tracer set is a nice upgrade. The lead is big, so it will be significantly stronger than a .9mm lead. Weaker than a flat pencil, but that is not designed for accuracy for finer wood working. The Tracer pencil comes with a built in lead pencil sharpener which is a nice touch to keep the point of the lead as sharp as you need it. One thing to keep in mind of is, before you re-insert the lead pencil into the protective holster, you need to retract the lead back in, either in part or completely back in. If the lead is extended a little too far out, it will just snap and break off in the holster. Don't do as I did and break the lead off. Other than that, the pencil is sturdy and comfortable to use. Has a clip to keep it close in your pocket. Comes with replacement leads. The markers are also very good. No clogging just as advertised. Sometimes my go-to permanent markers have a hard time marking wood, especially when it has dust or wood shavings on it, but this one has no problems marking the wood as needed.

Top Marks!
I recently used these marking tools on a couple of projects and was really impressed. The pencil’s narrow, long head made it super easy to mark spots that a regular pencil couldn’t reach. Plus, there's a built-in sharpener in the cap, which helps keep the lead sharp for precise markings. The spare lead holder is also a nice touch, keeping the refills safe and handy. Overall, it's a big upgrade from the old carpenter's pencils. I also used the markers on a tile project, and they left dark, easy-to-see lines that wiped off cleanly. Just a heads-up, though: the ink can wash off easily when using a wet saw, so be careful to avoid mistakes. One thing to keep in mind with the markers is to twist the cap to open it, since it’s a bit tough to pull straight off. And make sure the cap is fully snapped on after use to prevent the ink from drying out—it’s easy to think it’s on all the way when it’s not. All in all, these marking tools are a huge improvement, and I’d definitely recommend them for anyone looking for something better than the old-school options.
