@MIKEDOC your answer is unhelpful. None of the images show the back of the package when shopping online, so you are telling the customer he has to come in the store to know. Perhaps you could go look at the package and tell us the answer.

                    Answer This Question

Hi there - thank you for contacting us. No, Tapcon screws are not reusable. Reusing them can reduce holding power. If you need to replace a Tapcon, it's best to use a new one or consider using a larger Tapcon or anchoring epoxy if necessary. Please feel free to call us at (800)222-6990 or email us at tapcon@itwbrands.com, if you have any questions.

Why is it that all of the questions asking for specifics aren’t answered. Questions such as shear strength, pull out resistance, etc are all told to contact customer service. Certainly gives your product a tainted reputation

If there is no official response in these digital registries, liability is limited. Capitalism is the short answer.

Hello, the reason for that is because there are so many factors that come into play when selecting a fastener for a specific fastening situation that we would need more information about the application. Please feel free to call us at (800)222-6990 or email us at tapcon@itwbrands.com, if you have any questions.

I used these Tapcon 1/2 in. x 5 in. steel hex washer‑head concrete anchors to secure the pergola posts in my garden, and I’m very impressed with both the performance and the appearance. Installation was straightforward, just do the pre-drill and then drill in smoothly. Once installed, the anchors held extremely tight in concrete with no movement at all. They feel very solid and give me a lot of confidence that the pergola is properly secured, even in strong winds or bad weather. I also really like the hex washer‑head design—it gives a clean, professional look instead of looking bulky or messy. The steel finish blends well with the pergola hardware and looks great outdoors. Overall, these anchors worked exactly as expected: strong, reliable, and well‑made. If you’re building or anchoring something structural like a pergola post, these are an excellent choice. I would definitely buy them again and recommend them to anyone doing outdoor projects.

Bought these because the smaller ones would twist off every time. These twist off every time too. I’m drilling the appropriate diameter hole at least a half inch deeper than the screw is long. I tried reeming out the hole too but didn’t make a difference. As soon as the threads catch, these screws shear off. I switched to the hammer-in expansion anchors and those produced a solid anchoring effect. Was putting these in old concrete floor from 1975, trying to anchor base plate for a wall.

That I can sheer cement anchors with my bare hands! Hulk smash. How the heck am I gonna get these out? This should be real fun. Pure garbage. All sheered at same spot. 3/8 are good...somehow 16th of an inch makes all the difference.
