A: Hello! Screws that are only galvanized may start to rust “in a few years” because the zinc electroplating isn’t enough on its own. Teks roofing screws have galvanizing that is enhanced with a corrosion-resistant top coat, and this multiplies the corrosion resistance by several times. In accelerated salt spray testing, Teks screws perform well for at least 1000 hours, whereas similar screws with only galvanizing are expected to survive 100 – 200 hours.
A: Funny, the answer customer service gave was these are good for 1000 hrs. There are 8760 hours in one year so go figure!
