  • Kills all common household ants
  • Pre-filled, ready-to-use bait stations

Attract and kill the ants you see and the ones you don’t with Terro Liquid Ant Baits. The liquid, which contains borax, is specifically designed to allow worker ants to consume the product, survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest. Ants consume the liquid ant bait and return to the nest where they pass it around to the rest of the colony. The active ingredient in the bait slowly interferes with the ants’ digestive systems, ultimately killing them. Since this is a bait product, you will initially see more ants as they are attracted to the liquid but don’t worry, this is a good thing. After the bait is consumed, insect populations will begin to decline. Complete control may take up to two weeks. For your convenience, Terro Liquid Ant Baits are easy to use and feature a new and improved snap-off tab design no scissors needed. To open the bait, hold the station vertically and twist the new and improved tab. Then place indoors on a flat surface near ant trails and other signs of ant activity. The more bait placements, the better. Be sure to leave the ant baits undisturbed while the ants are actively feeding on it.
  • Kills the ants you see and the ones you don't
  • Ready to use - set the bait, attract ants and kill the colony
  • Stay-fresh tab keeps liquid bait fresh until opened
  • Snap-off design makes it easy to open - no scissors needed
  • Use bait stations along baseboard, under appliances, on windowsills, and wherever ants are numerous
  • Place baits near ant trails or where ants are numerous
  • Use all 6 baits for best results to ensure ants receive an ample supply

Questions & Answers

Normally how long does it take for the ants to disappear?

I have used this for a week, and the ants are still coming in, and even gets worse today.
Asked by: Anne
I use the Terra liquid from the bottle that Amazon doesn't have. I put it in bottle caps acting as cups. ...refill when almost depleted. Ants are gone in 4-7 days but I leave it out to catch some scouts; I HAVE had a new wave come in, probably from a neighboring tribe, and they get wiped out too. I also use the shaker stuff around the perimeter of the house when it looks like a bad season.

Sugar ants

Will this product work on sugar ants too?
Asked by: Toots
YES! We live in the Virgin Islands and had an infestation of sugar ants (locals call them “crazy ants”) in our kitchen. Within a week of putting the baits on the counter, they disappeared. We have a small kitchen and I used four of the bait stations. I highly recommend this product.

Is the product still effective after the liquid turns a dark color? The ants are still attracted to it. I can't find an expiration date on the packaging.
Asked by: Antybody
The active ingredient, boric acid is stable. The sugary substance it is mixed with is likely breaking down, however if the ants still enjoy eating it and bringing it to the nest, it should be fine

Noticed ants in house getting into things right away. In backyard there were at least 7 ant nests. Placed Terro near nests and they went after it. First round it killed many, but of course it needs to kill the queen and colony. Less ants the next day but still present, so went another round with Terro. This time around they were gone. It looked like they closed up the nests. Next day they came back with a vengeance in our front yard. They were in a frenzy, as if they were mad. Placed more Terro near the nests in front yard. Same thing happened; less after first application and shutdown after second. Still a few left so I placed one more round. Now they are all but gone! If at all possible, don’t place in the house. Find the nests outside and place near the nest. Also, don’t buy more than you can place at a time. I bought two packs and placed the other in our garage. They went after it like gangbusters even in the package! If I could give this stuff 10 stars I would!

At first, I saw a trail of ants come, then over a few hours MORE ants kept coming. I started to become skeptical mainly because I was impatient. However, after 24-48 hours, the massive amounts of ants I saw had magically disappeared. I really couldn't believe it. All the ants that were dispersed all over my kitchen counters and floors appear no more! It's the first day since they disappeared so i'll continue to monitor but so far not 1 ant anywhere in my kitchen. My tips for people using this product is to find the source/entrance of these ants and place it there so you don't have a long trail of ants walking thru your kitchen. Another tip is to do it in areas you can't see or at night (just so you don't keep staring at the ants and having the urge to spray it all which is a no no). Patience is key for this product!! I used 3 in my cabinet, but to be honest only needed 2. I used another one on an outside area where ants could be visibly going somewhere into my house/kitchen area.

Every spring we can count on the ants like clockwork and this year was no different so once again we turned to this product (Liquid Ant Killer Bait Stations) which works like a charm each time. We usually have to do this just once in spring and never see the ants indoors again through summer. I give 5 stars for the effectiveness of the product and 1 star for the "NEW AND IMPROVED" design. NEW yes....IMPROVED absolutely not! For starters the "easy open tap" was not easy open and I was expecting to have the liquid come flying our once I final wrestled the tab off. I questioned this new design from the start because now instead of the old ramp that went to the surface for the ants to just trek up the new designs opening was smaller and off the ground, but even with my doubts I proceeded to set them up. After 24 hrs. and still nothing in the traps which was not our usual experience and having ants still migrating across the floor and onto our counters I had to get creative. So I took every trap one by one cut the trap open after making sure the liquid bait was towards the back of the trap and laid them on a small piece of paper in case any liquid should come out I didn't want it on the floors. So with this cut the new opening was now level with the surface of the floor and much larger. By the time I laid the 6th trap down I went back to the first I had set out with MY new design and not to my surprise there were ants in it....as a matter of fact 3 of the traps had several ants in them within minutes. So clearly it wasn't the bait or finicky ants, but the IMPROVED DESIGN.....ugh I just ask why companies can't leave a good thing alone. The previous design seemed to work well for most per all the excellent reviews.....why change it. I have attached pictures in case anyone else should have the same problem.

It seems that I remember a time when these products came in a little screw top glass bottle that was flat on one side. You unscrewed it and sat it down. These traps, while pretty effective in attracting and killing ants, have a couple of issues that make them less than satisfactory. The first is the method of opening them. You're supposed to twist the top off. Well, the top simply doesn't WANT to twist off. It takes so much effort to twist it off that I found myself covered with ant poison; something I would really rather avoid. I even resorted to cutting off the tips with scissors, but the plastic is brittle and does not cut cleanly. The other issue is that about half of them end up in a puddle of poison after a time. It mystifies me how this happens, but they just appear to leak out on the floor. The substance is quite difficult to clean up, too, as it doesn't want to dissolve with soap. So all in all, I think I'll search for another solution that's more to my liking.

Unfortunately, Home Depot doesn't stock the outdoor Terro ant stakes (you have to order them online). I used these Terro Bait Stations instead. I place one each in the ant track (2 place) and checked back a few hours later. The ants were attracted to the bait and there were lots of ants still marching down the track. I checked back the next morning and there were still lots of ants along with ant tracks. Hmmm, wondering what is going on. Well, I checked again in the early evening and to my surprise - No Ants. I mean none, zero, no where to be found. After a week I will find the individual Scout Ant, but nothing like before. The best thing other than they work is that they are inexpensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fANTastic Product Amazing product. Never had a problem with ants and the day after I listed the house for sale, I saw 8 in a cabinet. Put down a competitive product found in the supermarket and for two days, I kept seeing 4 or 5 ants at a time. So, I read the reviews and bought the Terro. Left out a few when I went to work and came home to an amazing sight. 100+ ants forming a line and then diving right into the bait. Because there were so many, I could tell where they were coming from and where they were going. I added more baits closer to their entrance (I know I should seal the entry in-- but it's in a hard to reach place and will need help to do that).... by the time I went to bed, there were so many ants and I was really disgusted. But -- when I woke up the next morning, I only saw ONE live ant and a few dead ones. I knew of a few dead ones that had been carted away by their brothers. Never saw anything like it. The photos with the ants were taken at 9 PM one night and the photos without the ants were taken at 6 am the next morning. Same location.

The ants were allways a problem but, this year, they took it to another level. I purchased this after, over the course of a week, they invaded my kitchen, swarmed the danish I had on the kitchen counter that I was saving for dessert AND bit the guests I had over for a Memorial Day weekend BBQ. I had had enough. I purchased two packs of the bait stations on Memorial Day and promptly dispersed them through my back yard, front door - heck, ANYWHERE I could find ant trails. Lord knows there were a lot of trails. Thousands of the little buggers everywhere. That was two weeks ago. I went out today and searched my backyard. I found three ants. Two weeks ago there were hundreds crawling on my guests and their food. Now there are three. Three. This stuff works. Be patient. Be sure the ants have a good supply of the poison. After three days, when the baits were empty, I purchased another two packs and a pack of the Terro outdoor base station model. I promptly replaced the traps. In a few cases, I spilled a little of the liquid onto the pavement to make sure the ants know what was in the station. ... and within two weeks it killed them all. Well, all except three.
