Questions & Answers

I understand people being upset that the OLD BAGS are gone, but what is the quality of THIS BAG, based on it's OWN MERITS?

This is still the BEST SHOPPING BAG out there. It is NOT as big as the old HD bag that had clips but its still the BEST bag out there. Why don't reviewers simply comment on the GOOD QUALITIES of this bag? With all the UNDER 5 STAR reviews, someone might take it to mean that these bags are sub-par. They are not. They are totally 5 star in all respects.
Asked by: ThatEcoDude
This bag, EXCEPT for the bright orange color, is almost the perfect reusable, ECO friendly, shopping [and general use, camping, fishing, stow jumper cables or other car items inside of it] type of bag. The quality between this HD poly bag and any other "suuposedly" eco friendly bag is this. Unless you use this bag to store and transport very sharp objects[knifes, nails, sharp edged steel pieces] this bag will be usaful for years to come. I confidently go to any grocery store's "Bulk food" aisle and buy those monster sized cans [number 10 cans I think they are called]. Also I'll buy those gallon glass jars of dill pickles. Then at checkout I will place 2 of the #10 cans of food and 2 or 3 glass gallon jars of dill pickles in one HD poly bag. At home I know that I'm going to safely haul those heavily filled bags, all the way from my vehicle up to my 3rd floor apt. As someone else mentioned, I also used one of these bags to buy several gallon cans of house paint. I NEVER worried the cans would cause the bag to rip out. Friends of mine use these for boating trips, camping trips, etc. I use a couple for hauling my laundry down 3 floors, to my apt bldg's laundry room. I would say that I've bought at least 50 of these over the past 4 years. I regularly have donated to charities like Rescue Mission. I've seen some homeless folks with these orangge poly bags and while they might fade a bit over the years of use, they are STILL WORKING! [NOTE: try leaving those cheesy non-poly shopping bags outside, just on sunny days. About 2 to 3 weeks of high UV exposure and those non poly eco bags LITERALLY fall to pieces. Those non-HomeDepot bags probably had good intentions, but having such bags just disintegrate upon exposure to UV just BITES!. One time I had triple bagged some books into 3 of the walgreens eco bags that had been on sale. After 2 weeks just sitting in my truck's front seat, when I went to lift the triple bagged books, the ENTIRE contents of the bag fell out the bottom of the 3 bags, all over the ground. Hence my dislike for any bags so constructed. Plus the reason WHY the HD poly bags became the answer to my prayers.

What happened to tote bag

Home depot had a large orange tote bag with shopping cart handles (plastic) and it was nylon. How can I get more of them, not the small one but the larger bags.

What are the exact dimensions of the bag? I have an old nylon bag that I love, but it’s developing a hole. I know it’s bigger than 7.25 inches and I don’t remember paying $1.97 for it. My favorite bag was just nylon handles attached to a nylon bag.

The dimensions are .25"D x 15.75"H x 7.25"W.

7.25 in. Reusable Shopping Bag is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Saint Vincent De Paul Society uses the Home Depot... Our Saint Vincent De Paul Society uses the Home Depot reusable shopping bags to assemble donated non-perishable food that we give each month to the homeless and hungry in our area. The bags are larger and stronger than the cloth bags available at grocery stores. We thank Home Depot for for selling us the bags at a reduced rate. This allows us to use more of our cash donations to help the poor meet some of their other financial needs. A total gift of the bags by Home Depot each month would be a wonderful blessing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds up to 8 x 2-liter bottles without ripping or tearing. Great and extremely sturdy bags. I have not found ANY other bag like this in any store. I just bought a whole box of them because someone said they might be going anyway. (hope that is just a rumor). I think there were like 50 bags in the box and the local HD store reduced them from .99 cents to 2/$1.00 for the 4th of july. They are really awesome for their sheer strength strength. Just a couple days ago I used one of these bags to haul a 30 lb watermelon plus two cantaloupes. The bag handled it easily. If there is one thing I truly hate these days, it has to be that Home Depot is the ONLY RETAILER THAT OFFERS THESE TYPE OF BAGS. These bags are awesome. I feel good about doing my part for the environment because I buy one bag and use it for years. Like another reviewer stated, how can those moronic eco bags truly be Eco-friendly if they fall apart the first time ANY source of UV hits them? Besides devastating consumer's wallets with re-buying bags over and over and over, how exactly can a company produce a bag 100's of times vs. one of these HD bags, and those 300 bags still be eco-friendly??? How much electricity, gas, oil, etc, was used to create those "so-called" eco-friendly 300 bags vs the costs involved to make ONE of these homedepot bag? If someone wanted to create a TRUE ECO FRIENDLY bag, then make one that starts to break down when exposed to methane. I've seen a lot of garbage dumps and most all have pipe ports to vent the methane the dump produces. So if someone truly wants to make an eco-friendly bag, then use materials that break down in a garbage dump environment. (I am so sick of buying those eco-UNfriendly bags that only have to sit in my truck's front seat for a week or so. I go to lift one up and because it was exposed to UV for more than 5 minutes, everything inside fell out the bottom).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A mega sturdy bag for just 97 cents. These last for years. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the former SUPER SIZE orange HD bags were better for many purposes. Nevertheless these smaller bags do have their own place/function though. I tend to use these smaller bags more often than I use the older XXL monster-sized CLIP bags. I still have some of those older ones laying around. They fit easily in your pocket and can hold up to about 3 bags of groceries. I've switched from other bags of this size, to using only HD bags. Mainly because I never have to worry they will "Rot out" like the "ECO"/ "recycled toilet-paper" bags always do. Recently used these for transporting home a paint purchase. Bought 6 one-gallon cans of paint. Put 3 one-gallon cans per HD bag. The bags handled the load without any ripping or tearing. Carried them up several flights of stairs to my condo. The only CON(s) I can think of are: 1. COLOR SELECTION is limited to HD "orange". These get used by family members. would be nice if the youngsters could choose a specific color for "their stuff". Bags should be offered in colors like Blue, Red, Green, Black, Gray. Then HD could simply ADD their familiar "HD orange LOGO" as a 3" x 3" silk screening, to both sides of each bag. SUGGESTIONS: 1. ADD a carabiner snap ring on one of the handles. Often times these bags get filled to overflowing with clothes or camping supplies or groceries or ???. I keep a few of those snap-clips with my bags, in case I need to clip the top two handles together. 2. ADD a metal eyelet opposite the snap-ring clip, to clip to. Something which would keep the bag closed when driving home with groceries or supplies. 3. BRING BACK THE OLD XXL Super-Sized HD poly bags, with the shopping cart side clips. (based upon reviews, HD customers WANT the OLD bags also). 4. RECYCLING: offer an "old-bag-turn-in" program at all HD stores. A place to dispose of old bags. Preferably pay customers to return any old ripped bags and buy new. EXAMPLE: Turn in a ripped bag [in the event that it ever does happen] and get 25-cents toward a new HD bag. [May not have many takers on turning in old ripped/torn bags though. I have never had one rip yet and several of my bags are a few years old]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best reusable shopping bag ever Made of strong light weight nylon. Can fold and stuff it into your pocket. I bought several of these last year and people keep taking them. I paid 50 cent back then and now they are a dollar and still a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight & very strong. These are very light weight, but strong. I have 4 and love them. I use mine for carting heavy packages when I ship and groceries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ok bag the Home Depot bag is stronger than most other bags you get from other stores because it's nylon material. Most other bags I've had will tear after so many uses. Like other reviewers say, they prefer the larger bag with the handles over this one and so do I, but this bag is stronger than most other bags out there.
