I got the Plumber's Choice 1/2 in. x 36 in. Galvanized Steel Pipe in which to make a pipe clamp, (along with buying a H-Style pipe clamp fixture). I have several pipe clamps using the black pipe and decided to try the galvanized pipe for one simple reason, the black pipe can leave a black mark on the wood, and the galvanized pipe does not. I like this galvanized pipe, it seems to be well made, is threaded on both ends and if I needed for other applications, such as DYI industrial furniture type of things then I would have no problem using this brand of galvanized pipe.

If you need a 1/2 inch steel pipe, this one is perfect. I needed this to make a pipe clamp. 3/4" or 1/2" is the standard size and for a DIY woodshop 1/2" is fine. I like using galvanize because there is no grease on it or residue that gets on everything that you find with other pipes. Both ends come with a plastic cap to protect the ends and the pipe is perfectly straight.

I've been doing a lot of woodworking lately and realized I needed a better assortment of large clamps. I found these universal clamps online that only require a 1/2 in. threaded pipe. The longer the pipe, the bigger the clamp. PERFECT. I saw these pipes on Home Depot's site and ordered a 36 in., 48 in., 60 in. and a 72 in. The pipes came wrapped in plastic with no other protection but the threads were well protected with plastic caps. These are galvanized so they should weather well.

Everything a Pipe should be and more. I bought this pipe for the intent of using it for my pipe clamps I have. I wanted a 60in but when I got there i went smaller. I got a 48in and a 36in and have found these two sizes are great for what I am working on. No complaints about the pipes. Straight, Strong, and have multi-uses. My clamps slide up and down with no problems.
