Q:I don't understand the measurement in the spec's for the drain adapter? They state "Includes a PVC male adapter fitting for 1 in. - 1-1/2 in. drain pipe". Whats that mean, fits 1" pipe, or 1 1/2" or both? Judging by the pictures it seems to only fit one.

      A:  Easy for 2, in garage, flexible hoses at top for IN/OUT? Turn off power to heater, turn off incoming cold water, connect garden hose to drain, run it outside, open facet & drain, lift tank, slide pan under, lower & fill tank, close facet, power heater.

        Q:Rheem Gladiator Platinum EWH (55g 5500W) 22-1/4" diam tank, incl Leak Detection. OK to use 24" diam Alum Drain Pan? Rheem specified max 2" Depth for pan. Why it matters? Water level is determined by Lower rim of drain pipe fitting anyway!

        A:  Better off using 26". Spec's state 2" Minimum and the 24" only gives you 1 3/4 inches. It might hit the drain, because it sticks out inside the pan a ways. I would think the height of the pan should be OK.

            Perfectly functional pan, great value. Recently replaced our 20 year old water heater, still working fine but it did not have a pan underneath. House is on a slab, water heater is in a closet adjoining a carpeted bedroom. Definitely wanted a pan under the new heater and this fit the bill. Came with bulkhead fitting, all aluminum does the job.

              The Home Depot online listing had the wrong dimensions listed for size of bottom and upper rim. In fact, every pan they sell had the wrong dimensions listed, as we have since learned. We bought online, and drove 2 hours from Canada to pick up the pan, and it was the wrong size (too big for our nook) and super flimsy. This was a major hassle that cost us 5hrs of time and gas. Very unhappy with product and service.
