Cost effective way to reduce 1/2 in. PEX down to 3/8 in. PEX Model # 1238EPRC5 Internet #308501580 The Plumber's Choice 1/2 in. x 3/8 in. Brass PEX Straight Reducing Coupling Barb Pipe Fitting (5-Pack) There are other manufacturer's of PEX fittings who offer similar products. The key is to find the best quality for the price. Compare 'The Plumber's Choice' with others and you will see they are equal or better. I had to buy a second crimping tool in order to crimp the 3/8 in. rings. This is still one of the best ways to connect water lines. Manufacturer's Comments: - Constructed of lead free (DZR) brass for superior reliability and strength - Fittings work with crimp ring or clamp connection methods - Barb x barb connection for PEX plumbing systems - Rated to 200°F and 200 psi - Compatible with PEX pipe sizes 1/2 and 3/8 in. - NSF, UPC and CSA approved, manufactured to ASTM standard F1807

I got these because it seem no store stocks this size reducer adapters. They are great and a must have running main lines in a house. I always use one inch main lines and then reduce them into 3/4 going to the fixtures. It give it the feeling of more water pressure. These are made well and I see no pour-us spots in the mold like on some cheaper fittings. They crimped well and no leaks so I’m happy with them.

If you ever work on plumbing and you haven't already, you owe it to yourself to check out PEX pipes and fittings. PEX is so much easier than sweat soldering, gluing or pipefitting. It almost seems like you're cheating. It takes way less time and the end product is much less likely to leak immediately and in the long term. The PEX pipe bends easily, meaning you will have fewer joints and each joint is very easy to do and takes only a few seconds. It is way faster compared to any of the other pluming methods. Repairs are much easier and the cost is compatible with other methods. The product listed is just one of the great products by PEX. It is a 1/2 in. x 3/8 in. brass PEX straight reducing coupling barb pipe fitting (5-Pack), which is perfect for reducing the pipe size right near the sink, tub or toilet. It can be used with the PEX crimp ring or clamp connection. Check out the videos online about PEX installation and then try it for yourself...you'll never go back to your old method. If you do plumbing for a living, as a sideline or just around the house, PEX will change your life.

PEX is a quality alternative to copper or galvanized pipe for water plumbing systems. A reducer like this is often an additional cost savings technique that allows you to scale down size of valves or other fittings if full flow is not needed. Scaling up, or using this fitting as an “increaser” is often required to keep proper flow. Keep in mind that 3/4 inch PEX pipe is about the same internal diameter as 1/2 inch galvanized. Barbed fittings like these are smaller inside diameter yet, since they fit inside the pipe. It is a good idea to properly size your system if you are installing any length of pipe or doing a large project. This type of fitting can be used with either PEX-A or PEX-B pipe and either with crimp rings or cinch clamps. My choice is the cinch clamp, since it seems to work better and faster, and the cinch tool is cheaper. Good price for a quality fitting, and good to know that they are available at Home Depot.

Well made brass PEX fittings. Fits right, crimps right, holds pressure, with either crimp or ring clamps. Tapered internal transition for smoother better water flow, less turbulence noise. Lead-free for safe drinking water, of course. Convenient 5-pack for small jobs. Won't make me rich or famous. Brass does make me feel better than plastic fittings, no matter how sturdy they may be. And the price is good.

Pex tubing is easy to install and cheaper than copper. These 1/2' brass strait fittings are better than the plastic ones in my opinion. Very fast to slide a crimp ring on both ends of pex and push this into both ends and use a pex crimping tool to crimp the rings on to these brass couplings. Pex tubing deters theifs from stealing copper and withstands freezing way better!

the Pex straight coupling barb pipe fitting is just one of the many great pex fittings that are used to install pex water lines. they make joining straight runs of pex lines an easy task that make a secure union between the lengths of line . i am a big fan of the pex product line and think it is a big improvement over copper or cpvc, it's much easier to work with, a lot faster to install and the cost is reasonable. the only downside is that you need a special tool to fasten the clamps for the fittings and it is costly to purchase for limited use. i think Pex is the way of the future and is a great product to be considered for any water line needs.
