Answer This Question

A:  No, there is not a need to buy a larger size. This 6 in. cover fits nicely over the 6 in. duct. In my case, the fan duct at one end splayed outward a bit after the 3 in. connecting spot, and I sliced the last inch of duct cover to extend it to a longer connection over the splayed duct, then covered the joint thoroughly with the required tape. Be sure to use the appropriate UL listed duct tape, not just a normal tape.

Answer This Question

A:  No, you need something rated for a wood stove, typically black pipe or stainless steel. https://www.homedepot.com/p/DuraVent-DuraBlack-6-in-x-48-in-Single-Wall-Chimney-Stove-Pipe-6DBK-48/202269771 Galvanized steel emits a deadly gas when heated and should not be used for a chimney pipe. If you are lining an old fireplace to have a wood stove insert I would suggest searching for a 6” stainless steel flexible stove pipe, normally costs around 15-20 per ft length.

A:  Will this install be on the lead in side of the fireplace or outlet of hot forced air. If on the outlet this material would not withstand the heat from the unit. A better solution would be our Everclean product with the coated fiberglass cloth inner liner.

      Answer This Question

A:  The inside black tubing is 6” for 6” connections. The sheathing adds a little over an inch all around. I’m not in the HVAC field, just a do-it-yourselfer. I found this product very flexible.

A:  The diameter is 6 inches. Your remaining question cannot be answered at this time.

          Flex Duct First Timer
I used to add supply and return to attic bedroom. Easy to use, cut and install. Outer jacket was tough enough that I didn't worry about assembly outside the knee wall and dragging through the access door. After reading all about the draw backs of flex duct I did use ridge wall connectors at ends and any turns. Final result air flow is excellent to attic.

Not As Pictured. Not even close to what is depicted in the pictures of the product, including on the Thermaflex web site. I was hoping to find tightly wrapped ducting for my specific application, which I thought I had found with this product, per the picture displayed (silver is not loose at all, etc.). Plus, the seemingly compressed pink fiberglass was a plus and the inside black layer did not appear to be loose, thus a positive for the air flow that I needed. This product is primarily the same as the others I could have gotten off the shelf and would have already started my project. Silver exterior is very loose and ripplely, the fiberglass is the same "fuzzy" type as others, and the inside layer is not smooth / is loose, despite the picture. Perhaps the strength of the components May be better, but was not part of my criteria. Again, I recommend others just get another brand off the shelf at Home Depot instead of ordering and waiting for this to arrive.

replaced a 25 foot r6 with a 5 deg diff, now 1.5 deg diff. Check your ac vents with an inferred thermometer ($20), and replace if malfunctioning

This is a *cautious* recommendation for the Thermaflex KM 6 in. x 25 ft. R8 HVAC Ducting. The product itself is exactly as offered. The reason for my caution is that I only needed six feet, but HD or Thermaflex only offers this in a 25 ft. length. I would be very happy to pay half as much for a 6-10 foot length. 19 feet of wasted ducting does me little good.
