Questions & Answers

I installed these lights last season, 10 in all. I just turned the lights on for the first time this year and have two burned out.

Is there a way to replace the bulbs
Asked by: CraigSolomon
I had these since 2013, and have lights burning out every year, each time I contacted Timbertech and they replaced the fixtures with no problems. The newer design does not have a heatsink. You can't just replace the LED's

I turned on lights and they all burnt out. I now hear from Timbertech (84 Lumber said nothing) that I need a transformer. What size and model ?Mike

Asked by: Mike
This question begs the question, "How were these 12 volt lights powered if a transformer wasn't used?" If they were wired with a lamp cord to a 120VAC supply then this would surely fry the LED circuit boards. The packaging and instructions show that this is a 12VDC light and as such needs to be installed in a 12VDC system powered by a transformer that is plugged in to a 110-220VAC receptacle. The TimberTech website shows that they offer one 100 watt transformer(about $130) and also has installation guidelines. These outdoor transformers are high quality weather proof units. Mine is a small regular box shape (about 3" deep x 4" wide x 8" high) that is mounted on my fence. It is a 56 watt In-Lite brand transformer which was cheaper & smaller in size. The transformer size required depends on how many lights(total wattage) you plan to power from it.

Three out of fourteen burned out in first 3 years and I can no longer get Timbertech to replace them under warranty. This is partially my fault, I misplaced receipt after one of the multiple warranty claims and even though they were clearly manufactured less than 5 years ago, they won't replace without a copy of receipt. I'm now up to 5 total post light LED failures and 2 riser LED failures. The bottom line is you should consider another product, while LEDs should last a lifetime these seem to fail after a few years and are expensive to replace.

I installed 5 of these lights in 2014 and have had to replace 4 already. These lights are supposed to basically last forever, but more than 3 years. I would like a warranty replacement. Should I go to home depot or Timber Tech?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't do it! These lights ceased working in just over one year on dusk-dawn timered usage. Plus, the post caps do not sit very securely atop these lights, have had to pick them up from the yard on multiple occasions after a good wind...wish we'd gone with traditional caps sans lights...would've saved money and frustration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk These LED lights, unlike typical LED lighting, fail in a year or two. You will go broke replacing them. Timbertech should do the right thing and recall all of them.

I installed 10 TimberTech LED lights and they have given 4 1/2 years of reliable service so far. They have been on every day during that time from dusk to dawn. Note also that you are covered by the manufacturer's 5 year warranty.
