The deck boards come pre-installed (on the model I purchased)...
The deck boards come pre-installed (on the model I purchased) on a frame that fits into the side rails. This is an upgrade over the wood not coming precut. Unfortunately, the self drilling screws they used to attach the slats to the frame insert stripped out of the wood very easily. In addition, the wood slats just sitting on the side rails, instead of drilled into them, is very wobbly and unstable. We installed a ladder, and the wood just popped right out as if it wasn’t even screwed into anything.
I purchased 1 1/2” pan head screws and ACTUALLY installed the slats. Now, I’m very happy with it. But, for what I paid, I expected a bit more of a fit and finish that was not what I got. And the extra to not have to install the slats was wasted.
All that said, it’s a nice little dock for looking at. Nothing to stable though.
