A: I don’t have just a little muck at my lake but I the basses worked great for me

A: Not sure yet how far they settle, I put mine in a bottom that is several inchs of muck last August and I expected them to sink in somewhat. Over this winter I see that they did that but not too much. When the weather allows, I'll get in the water to better understand. If I had it to do over I would have drilled through the pipe for a more positive anchor with the set screw. Not certain this is necessary but a potential concern.

A: The 8" dock pipe base is not intended for use in a muck application.
by|Mar 11, 2018
A: From my experience they will sink in muck quite a bit causing leveling problems on your dock. If you place a large concrete paver down first they work but the easiest solution is to buy the 14” x 14” muck base. They will sink a little but they work great.

A: No, you should buy the larger square bases. I have used Tommy Docks for years. The 8 in. will be pushed into muck and mud bottoms. The distance depends on how soft the bottom is and the weight on the pier.

All Tommy Dock brackets and hardware are top of the line. Excellent quality and super easy to use. Used these with the outside corner brackets, straight brackets, and poles to build a 4'x10' dock on my lake in Iowa. Very solid dock, legs hold well and doesn't wobble at all (these plates hold well, I was a little worried as the lake is pretty solid but a few inches of mud on top, they sunk in just enough and hold really, really well!). I'm already planning out my add ons for next year! And with these brackets, adding on and reconfiguring will be really easy too! Love this product, glad I ended up choosing these after doing a lot of research.

The quality of the product is fine. What isn't fine, is Home Depot shipping a single pad when they are sold as a 2-pack. This also occurred with 2-pack of Tommy Dock augers and 2-pack of TD brackets. HD sends 1 of each... Then makes you return the items and re-order.
