DO NOT BUY THIS TRIMMER: YOU'LL GET SHAFTED (BY THE TRIMMER AND BY THE WARRANTY). Upper shaft assembly broke where lower shaft connects because of metal fatigue after a little over 2 years of use. Although unit is still under 4-year warranty, I would have to be without my trimmer at least 2-3 weeks to get the upper shaft replaced under the warranty, even though it is a straightforward repair.

I bought this identical trimmer in 2005. Only difference is this one has a bit bigger engine. Starts immediately and runs great just like the old one. The only reason I had to replace it was the fuel bubble, fuel lines and fuel tank were disintegrating due to the ethanol in the fuel.

Easy to put it together right out of the box. Instructions were easy to follow and starting it was not hard either. So much more powerful than my wireless electric Toro trimmer.

I purchased this based on the Toro brand name, which I thought was good. Maybe their commercial line is better, because I see it at lots of golf courses...but this line trimmer is going back to the store after only one use. The old electric piece of junk I've had for years had become too much of a pain with the non-functional bump head and constant line changing. I was really, really looking forward to having a "real" line trimmer. After assembling and fueling up, it started up after a few tries, no problem there. It stalled out several times, but as it was brand new, I expected a little "breaking in" period, so no problem there. BUT....the pre-loaded trimming line wouldn't advance properly, no matter the speed. Usually, after about 2 minutes of use, one side would feed out properly, while the other disappeared in the head. Often both sides stopped feeding through. I would stop, walk back to the garage, and unwind and re-wind all the line. I eventually realized it was melting to itself, or to the spool! The manual says (in the troubleshooting section) to use a little silicone spray to lubricate the line/spool. Did that...didn't help. I tried a different line (same size, 0.095 in.) thinking maybe the pre-loaded stuff was the problem. SAME RESULT. The line keeps sticking/welding itself to the spool or to itself...and I end up having to stop and re-wind the entire spool every 2-3 minutes. It's the most frustrating thing, and I can't believe I wasted my time on this "real" line trimmer. The attached photo shows where the line was melting and sticking to the spool and itself. My piece of junk corded electric trimmer will be coming back out of the trash bin, and I'm taking this Toro junk back to the store.
