A: Hi, Bill! Thanks for your question. We currently use CC (cubic centimeters) instead of horsepower (HP) to measure the force a given engine has. This unit #21563, is equipped with a 7.25 ft-lb Briggs & Stratton EXi 163 cc with Blade Stop engine. That said, converting this unit's CC to HP would put it at about 10.8 HP. Q:Can anyone easily explain the difference between this model (21563) and the 21565? I did a product comparison side-by-side, and can't really tell, except for the mower weight. Both specify 7.25 lbs. of torque in the side-by-side description. More power?

Great mulcher with extras

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mower mulches and bags very well, the spin stop is great so you dont have to restart the mower when emptying the bag or moving sticks! I love the aluminum deck. Personal pace was a learning curve, but 4 mows later and i like it! Black coated deck and mower does collect dirt and dust more easily, but a quick wash cleans it right up.

Wheel Fell Off....TWICE!!!!!

I am only on the second season with this lawn mower, toro 21563. I purchased it from Home Depot online on 04/02/2022. About three weeks ago, the right rear wheel fell off. The bolt that holds the wheel on was sheared off, with the threaded portion still in the hole that it screws into. I took it to Weingartz for service. They were great and repaired it without cost. Replaced bolt and geared wheel. I brought the mower home, and the VERY next mowing, the LEFT rear wheel fell off with a sheared bolt, exactly the same way as the first time, only the other wheel. I bought this mower because it has blade stop technology so you don't have to restart the mower every time you empty the bag. It would be nice if I could actually use it. Now my mower will be tied up for three more weeks. Not happy at all considering I paid 900.00 plus tax for a residential push mower and I only use it to cut a less that 1/4 acre (78 feet by 112 feet) residential lot. NOT HAPPY

Toro recycler w/blade stop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this mower to replace my +10 year old toro recycler pro. New model seems to have lighter weight. Handle position is slightly higher and hand grip is more comfortable. Starts easily on first pull and runs well with good fuel efficiency. Cutting performance is very good, power drive makes mowing almost effortless. - one star.... Packaging was not the best, noting the handle bar was not secured in the box well, causing concealed shipping damages to the handle bar, hand grip and handle locks. +4 stars... This model has the blade stop that allows the operator to let go of the handle without shutting down the engine.

Don’t Waste Your Money

Purchased Spring of 22 online from Home Depot. Mower was used for approximately 5 hours this mowing season. First issue is bagging system. Bag is only allowed to fill half way and then the chute starts to plug. Rear wheels assembly that holds the bearing in is made of plastic and both left and right sides are cracked and are currently being held together with hose clamps so rear tires wont fall off. Mower has no adjustable throttle so engine is very under powered.

We recommend checking the grass bag frequently and emptying to prevent dragging and wear on the grass bag. Keep the underside of the mower clean. One way is to spray the underside with a garden hose. Wet grass and leaves tend to clump and cause the machine to plug and the engine to stall. We recommend avoid cutting in wet conditions. If your machine is cracked we recommend visiting an authorized service dealer to provide a physical inspection on your machine. Your machine has a 5-year warranty that protects against manufacturer defects. An authorized service dealer would be happy to provide a physical inspection to repair/replace if necessary. Oil leak in brand new mower.

Oil leaking from front of engine-cover/head gasket. Tightening the bolts, replacing the cover/gasket have not fixed the leak. Additional parts have been ordered and it remains to be seen if the leak is fixable. This is evidently a known issue.

It’s a nice cut quality. BUT….

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second super recycler. My last one was 18 years old. Still ran great with absolutely zero service other than plugs blades oil changes and air filters. Now to the new mower. The cut quality of the new vortex machine is superb. The vibration handle is definitely an upgrade. What I dislike about this mower. It burns so much oil. I literally have to top it off every mow. The oil isn't smoking out of the engine but it’s low every time I use it. Not sure where it’s going and it doesn’t seem right. The way the bag attaches seems flimsy like the pins that hang on the frame are shorter than the should be. It doesn’t back up easily almost like the transmission is still trying to go forward. The mowing height adjustment is terrible to figure out compared to the old model I had. I think it cuts very well. The oil consumption and ability to easily reverse the machine make me question its longevity which is sad for such an expensive machine.
