Not worth the money
I purchased this mower last year thinking that spending the extra money on a good brand would get me something that would last a long time and be of decent quality. Not the case with this one. Not long after purchase the paint started peeling off in sheets exposing bare metal on the bottom of the mower. The self propulsion is way to fast for the underpowered engine to keep up with cutting the grass. If you use the mulching function it will clog and stall easily even if it hasn't rained over a long period of time. Very unimpressed. First and last Toro for me.

Great Mower, but poor decision on Toro.
For some reason (well, actually we know the reason... $$$), Toro decided not to include a discharge chute - so your options are bag or mulch. This is fine, if you meticulously mow every week and keep your grass no longer than an inch - otherwise you'll experience the mower seizing up consistently if the grass is even remotely moist from morning dew or rain from previous days. Toro does offer a discharge kit if you register the mower, but it takes 6+ weeks to ship. Been waiting 3 months for mine.

We suggest cutting a third of the grass blade at a time. When cutting grass over 6 inches tall, mow at the highest cutting height setting and walk slower; then mow again at a lower setting for the best lawn appearance. If the grass is too long, the machine may plug and cause the engine to stall. If the lawn appearance is unsatisfactory we suggest walking at a slower pace while mowing or overlap cutting swaths instead of cutting a full swath with each pass. You may also locate more tips on page 24 of your operators manual that can be found on Toro.com/manuals. We also have helpful tips and videos on Toro.com/support.

My new Toro mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is nice mower but ....some clips of the grass are coming out from the back also the screw on the left side of the handle is not cover and can ripped your shirt if not watching. Toto u need to come up w the cover for it. this mower does NOT have a Variable Speed .

That's my Toro!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a female and I was able to cut the front, back and sides after sundown and finished before dark. I have a medium size yard. This was my first cut after winter so the grass had some height. I only had to empty the bag 3 times dued to the vortex technology cutting the clippings very fine. I really loved the self-propel feature and the lines it leaves in my yard looks so professional. Thus, I felt like a pro out there and had confidence that I had a great mower to do a great job. It did. I hope to get the same results after every mowing. I have yet to test the Smartstow but I feel I won't be disappointed.

Good product but expect!!
Good lawn mower does what it needs to for the price. Only down side I see is it spits out a ton of grass back at you!! No matter how I adjust the bag it still spits grass through the cracks on top. Pretty annoying just keep your mouth shut and you should be fine!!!
