Questions & Answers

is this mower any good for commercial use? like is it able to handle a total of about 30 lawns all season?

if not, do you have any that are good for commercial use?
Asked by: Paul
No, this mower would be good for residential use only. It would not hold up to commercial use.

does the engine keep operating when the handle is released? Looking for mower that engine keeps operating when handle is released also and also a throttle control to speed up the engine if needed.
Asked by: richard
Welcome to 2017. You're gonna need to pull on that rope thingy one more time if you need to leave the mower unattended. The engine is already running at full speed. No need to speed it up. It's already there dude.

1. does this mower have a pull start or electric start? 2. does it have an attachment to wash mower out underneath? 3. does it have an attachment for de thatching a lawn? 4. Can it multch the grass?
Asked by: Skimmpy
Mine does not have an electric start because Honda engines do not need one, and the previous 2 machines I owned with electric starts stopped starting after a few years so in my opinion electric starters are a waste of money if you buy a Honda engine. my previous lawn mower had a Honda engine and it still started on the first pull after 16 years...I will keep the engine in case I need to replace it one day. yes it does have a hose connection for wash out

Honda GCV160 22 in. Personal Pace Recycler Variable Speed Gas Walk Behind Self Propelled Lawn Mower is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mower I've had this mower for just over a year now after my twenty-year-old Lawn Boy finally needed replacing. It's always started on the first or second pull and has never hesitated cutting the grass. I've always left the clippings on the lawn using either the side-discharge or the mulching option so I can't comment on the usefulness of the bagging option, but it has operated well beyond my satisfaction. In fact, I was so happy with it that I bought a second one this past spring for the cottage where that one has performed equally as well on terrain that is tougher than a residential lawn. This is definitely a mower that I would recommend to someone.

We've only owned the mower one week and we only cut the yard (.5 acres) once. Well, the left rear wheel fell off less than 15 yards from our starting point, then fell off once more later in the cut. We tightened it and I hope that took care of the problem. I know it's a known issue for this model. Overall, it's a good mower. The pros are the reliable Honda engine, the effective self-propel feature, and the unit is relatively light weight. The cons are, of course, the wheels, but also the bagger is a bit small and it's a bit difficult to determine when it's full. But overall we're happy, although I would like to see how reliable the mower is over a complete season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Personal Pace Fan Had the Honda with the 160GCV engine and loved most everything about it...BUT the self propel control is a poor design. My hands would slip off and cramp. Hated it. So I returned it to Homedepot and purchase the toro personal pace recycler with the same Honda engine. The personal pace option is far superior than the Honda self propel controls. This mower Handles thick grass on an incline effortlessly and is every bit as good as the Honda in my opinion. One drawback, The hight adjustment for the front wheels is cheaply made and could bend easily so be careful. But for you overall grass cutting experience I would recommend the Toro personal pace Recycler with the Honda engine

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Toro lawn mower itself seems decent but stay away from the Honda engine. I've had many Honda powered pieces of equipment and purposely paid $50 extra for the Honda engine on this mower but I regret it now, the quality has gone way down. This same mower is available also with Kohler or Toro engines, I would go with the Toro engine. Also not impressed with the rear wheel drive, I see now why self propelled mowers have long been front wheel drive, as soon as there is a bit of grass in the bag it easily "pops wheelies". Otherwise the Personal Pace design works quite well. So, Toro front wheel drive with Toro engine if I were buying again. I give the Toro mower per se 5 stars and the Honda engine 1 star.

First day of use: gas leaking from motor (couldn't find cause of leak), chute attachment on frame (not bagging attachment) continuously disconnected from closing door while mowing, and clogged up chute numerous times causing engine shutoff. First mow of year and grass wasn't tall but in a few places and slightly wet from morning dew. Wasn't impressed with mower and got grief while returning it at Home Depot due to a small amount of fuel remaining in the tank. Employee tried turning me out the door several times to cyphen the gas out and then bring it back.. Needless to say they finally took it back after the guy did the "put off eye roll"... I'll still shop at Home Depot but just really disappointed and disgruntled.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ran only 5 minutes I bought this especially for the Honda Engine. Added oil and new gas, started up to test it, was oscilating for 15sec, then it settled down to a smooth idle. I tested it for a minute or two just to see how it works. 4 days later, checked the oil, started it up, and again it wasn't smooth, it was oscilating for about 15 sec, then ran smooth. Started cutting the grass, it ran for 5 min and the engine shut off. I checked the gas valve, spark plug, lever handle, everything was good. It wouldn't start, I tried for 30min, returned it, will never buy again.

This is my third Toro personal pace mower, I love the Honda engine it starts very easily and seems to have more power than the B & S engine on my previous mowers. this mower is also a little lighter. I bought the Toro w/ the Honda engine rather than a Honda mower because the features such as the bagger, personal pace and hose clean out were more to my liking. I would buy this mower again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take care of your employees before they take care of you I bought a toro in 1999 with the bs 163 cc personal pace been a good mower and still going . I decided to go with toro again but the bs engine is quieter than the Honda engine. That was a surprise. After adjusting the personal pace it would finally pull itself. But then the left rear wheel fell off but I fix that with a little lock tight. Then the spring that honds the grass catcher door on popped off. They changed the personal pace Handel from the old style, now bar rubs your wrist when pushing the mower not a big deal but the old style was much better. After all said it's a Honda, mower starts first pull ,it's light weight ,very easy to maneuver, motor is really powerful, personal pace feature is excellent. I had to give it a 5 star .
