Fantastic addition!
Just bought my Toro and in a moment of frustration gave a one star review. I was wrong. Due to my engineering background, I want to think, I was trying to over complicate what Toro has made simple. This device worked as advertised with the MyToro app and was simply fantastic. If you happened upon my earlier review, please feel free to laugh at me, I deserve it. Smile.

    Does not work with my Toro mower.
    I bought the mower, downloaded the MyToro app , added the mower succesfully, and in the app, main page, the PUC device was showed as recommended with the "add to cart" button. It sounded useful, so I ordered one from the local dealer. But he PUC device DOES NOT WORK. App is installed, PUC is synced to the app, it shows "PUC enabled", used the mower multiple times, put the PUC on 2 different places on the mower, but I don't get any data. The app only shows the one manually added hour, nothing about the following 4 mows with the PUC on. I did sync after mowing, received the "Data successfully synced" message multiple times, but no data is showing in the app. The dealer responded to my inquiry that the PUC was not compatible with my Smartstow mower. It would had been nice to know, maybe from the app??? The dealer has not responded to my requests for a return. I guess I am stock with a useless piece of plastic. Very disappointing.

    We're sorry to hear this and thank you for letting us know if the issues you experienced with your PUC. Keep in mind that for walk behind mowers the PUC should be placed on the rear deck, on the side opposite from the fuel cap. The PUC measures usage by the vibrating on your machine. Your phone also needs to be near the machine to sync data. Please email our customer support or give us a call at 888-384-9939. We would be happy to assist you further with this!
      Worked perfect for me
      I had to have the latest, greatest 60 volt electric 22" self propelled Toro, after my 45 year old Toro started to give me problems and parts were hard to find. When I saw this little gadget I thought it would be neat to track the hours of use even though my new Toro needs no maintenance. But reading about the PUC, and reading the reviews, I found no mention of it working with the electric mowers. But I ordered it anyways. I actually got this thing to work perfect with my Toro electric (model 20366). It took some playing around to find the sweet spot on the mower for the PUC to sense the vibration, but I got it to work with some trial and error. The PUC paired right up to my iPhone, and what I did was mount the PUC temporarily with two sided carpet tape, to different areas on the mower after I felt for the most vibrations with my finger tips with the mower running. Keep in mind, the electric mowers are silky smooth and quiet so it took some doing. I finally found that right on top of the motor housing, right in the center, behind the battery door was the sweet spot. It works perfect every time and tracks down the minute in the mytoro app, and it will even sync the data from about 10 or 12 feet away. If I could get this thing to work with an electric, and it's scary smooth, I don't see how the negative reviewers weren't able to get it work with their piston poppers.

        Tried Everything
        Ordered the puc from Home Depot online for my brand new Toro QZE 821. I was exited to get the puc. It didn’t come with instructions. You need to look in the mytoro app. I read the instructions carefully and followed them precisely. I mounted it to the plastic shroud as suggested and It paired quickly with my iPhone. The app showed it was connected, it showed the puc enabled and the battery life as it should. I started my brand new snowblower that hasn’t yet seen snow ran it for a while. Shut the snowblower off and in the mytoro app pressed “sync data” and it said “Data successfully synced” it didn’t sync any data. I tried it several times and it never showed any uses our time used. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, turning the phone off and on, etc. Nothing worked. Now the damaged it caused to my New snowblower. After running it for a little while several times to try and register time for the puc, the puc mounting plate (yes i used the included wipe to insure the surface was clean) fell off and I noticed it scuffed/scratched the plastic shroud. I paid $20 for an item that doesn’t work to just scratch my new snow blower. I contacted Toro customer support, they couldn’t figure it why the puc didn’t work and didn’t care that it scratched the shroud. Toro told me to just return it, I asked about the scuff marks / scratches and they said they couldnt do anything about them. Not happy. and do NOT recommend the Toro puc to anyone

          Good little helper
          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this shortly after buying my Toro walk behind. Its setup and its use was fast an easy initially. Over the down season, the battery died, which was determined after a fail to connect error message and having to perform a battery test. The same message appeared after replacing the battery. Since there aren't any instructions that inform you that a re-sync of the PUC is required after a battery change, I was getting "put out". As a last ditch effort, I tried re-syncing the PUC and met with success. My tip is: Remove the battery at the end of your season of use and re-install it with a fresh battery at the beginning of the next season. You will need to re-sync the PUC each time. "It's always easier to mow around the stump."

            So far so good. Installed at the end of the mowing season and only activated a couple times. Need more specific details on riding mower installation location. My mower’s data labels were placed in the suggested location for the PUC. Assembly and setup fairly easy however pairing requires patience.

              [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought this to keep up with maintenance. did well for first year them had to change the battery and now it keeps telling me that the battery is low. i suggest you just buy pen and notebook to track hours

It's possible that the battery you installed was low on power. We suggest trying a different battery, just to make sure. In addition, we recommend deleting the app, then reinstalling it.
