Questions & Answers

can this handle heavy snow

Asked by: GAMBINO
I haven’t had any heavy snow to test it. But in my research, many have commented how easily it handled 8-10 inches. If ordering from Home Depot go to the store and inspect it!! The first one they sent me was all bent up. Took 3.5? Months for them to get me a new one after several trips back to the store and them trying to tell me the damaged one I received was the new teplacement. When I teceived the actual replacement in June (original order in March), the handle was bent. It wasn’t the whole frame this time. so I decided to keep it and they were going to send me a replacement handle. Still waiting on that replacement handle. But so far the one bent was able to be straightened and held. Great machine handles up to 12 inches easily. Just be wary of had or fully inspect the machine before leaving the store. It’s a difficult looong process if there is an issue!

This is a bare bones unit....no electric start & no remote chute control, which means there is very little to screw up. It started on the second pull out of the box and runs perfect. It's replacing a 7 yr old Yardman single stage and it works much better. It throws wet snow twice as far with very little plugging and dry powder snow better than most 2 stage snowblowers. This thing is a little more powerful than the 208cc engine on the Yardman. It is very light and maneuverable. It cleans right down to the pavement even if the snow has been compacted by being walked or driven on. The manual chute is very easy to adjust. Now I know why they say Toro "owns the single stage market!" Highly Recommended!

Normally with my 18 inch TORO I would have to ram the pile of snow little by little and even have to run it on top of the pile and work it down. Not like something you spend $1000 or more but does a fine job plenty of torque the 4 cycle is also a major improvement over all especially not having to mix the Oil in the gas!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the 4 stroke Had a two stroke years ago, pushed through any kind of snow with no problems. Only problem was it was very loud. Always had to watch the gas and oil mix ratios. I was a little skeptical about the power of the new ones. Today was 37 degrees, the snow was wet and heavy, this one reminded me of my old one. Went right through the snow with ease, even where the snowplow left snow for me. Couple of the neighbors have asked me questions, I can see Toros in there garages soon. Thank you for a very easy starting machine. Turn key, push primmer three times, pull cord one time, just that easy. Thank you Toro. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I previously had a Toro snow blower for 15 years (until the engine finally died) and there was no doubt in getting another Toro. I like this model because I don't have to add oil to the gas as my previous model. I would have given this 5 stars, I'm just amazed the difference in 15 years for structure and design. Not saying anything bad, it just amazing how my previous model need two people to lift out of the SUV and I could carry this model by myself. Maybe I'm stronger now. LOL You won't be disappointed. I live in snowy Niagara Falls (near Buffalo, NY) and this snow blower has performed very well with all the snow so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Brother is even better than before! In 2002, I bought a Toro gas/oil mix unit that never let me down, and is still running, but after 15 years, I figured it was time to trade up, and it has been a great decision. This new unit is a little bigger, uses straight gas, and is every bit as easy to use. If you can still push a shovel, you cant go wrong! Start is dependable, and it easily throws even wet snow over 15 feet in my use. I'd be willing to bet I'll be set for another 15 years! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early days. One complaint. Neighbors have had single-stage Toros that really moved the snow, which is why I decided to get one. I have a long driveway and the 721R gets the job done better and faster than either 2-stage I had before. It's way too early to rate it on Dependability or Quality. Don't know why they ask those questions right after you bought it. The one complaint is the lack of written assembly instructions. The pictographs are incomplete. I had to go online to download further instructions, and even those didn't say how much of the bottle of oil to add. I've worked on lawn equipment for a long, and figured they's only supply what was needed for first fill, so I used the whole bottle. Still, the average user would not know that and it should be spelled out. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I’ve owned this snowblower for one year, it’s been used approximately ten times. Within that ten times the on/off switch has stopped working and has to be choked to get it to turn off. I rarely can start it on two pulls as advertized and often shovel to just not have to deal with the frustration. It rattles so bad the side handles have to be tightened often. I would buy a heavier duty with an electric start if I had to do it again

The 1st problem I had is it was shipped and did not have a key I happen to have an older model and that key worked in the new blower. the other problem I had was the bar that you pull down to start the auger moving came out of the holes in the handle that hold it in several times. the thing I like about it is does a great job of clearing snow down to the pavement.
