Power Curve 18 in. 15 Amp Electric Snow Blower is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 569.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy in a storm I prefer electric appliances because they are always ready to go, need no maintenance and pollute less. In the recent storm I was up and running while our neighbor's gas powered blower was out of service. The Toro handles moderate size storms with ease. I can't tell you the exact break point but it cuts through 6-10 inches with ease. When the snow gets near the top end of the range you may have to hit the bank twice to clear the snow. In this service your biceps will be tired after plowing and uphill is definitely more work (but far better than shoveling). When the banks get much higher you will have to use a shovel to knock them down and then the Toro will throw them out of the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable snowblower This snowblower has been around for many years and has proven reliability. Our new one seems to work well although it may be cheapened up a bit with more plastic. These units are a great value for what they are designed for mid-sized and smaller driveways and sidewalks. Although they can tackle a little bigger job it requires patience and a longer cord, a bit of a pain compared to a big, but much more expensive, two stage gasoline powered unit. In heavier deep snow it struggles and requires a slow approach. For the majority of storms in our area it does quite well especially when you account for the convenience of electric and cost of this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been using this Toro Power Curve 1800 Electric Snow blower here in VT for the past ten years... I've been using this Toro Power Curve 1800 Electric Snow blower here in VT for the past ten years. It's a great little unit. It's very lightweight at 24 pounds, very easy to handle. The only thing to keep uppermost in your mind when you're using it is where is the cord. It will suck up 50 feet of extension cord in no time flat. It didn't cut or damage the cord in any visible way but it took about two hours to get the cord untangled. Six years ago I dug an 80 foot long trench in drifted, three foot deep snow to get to a heating oil tank for a delivery at the rear of the mobile home our son lived in at the time. It only took about half an hour. Place the blower on top of the snow in front of you, grab the handle to turn it on, pull back then push forward and repeat until the blower reaches the ground. Then do the same thing over and over until you reach your goal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PURCHASE Finally used it first time with 30" snow that was not too heavy but not light either. Very easy to start and stop turning it off and on and maneuvering. Even though snow was deep, and at times I did shovel, it went right through it and I was amazed. Next time I won't even shovel but I was learning how to use it. Great purchase for a single woman like me, 62. I did buy the right power cord, 100 ft flexible in the cold cord, which was easy to use and I highly recommend. I used it in my driveway. This was recommended to me as I did not want to fuss in winter with gas/oil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great snow thrower! I've owned one of these for 20 years and it's great! I have a 110' x 30' driveway and was thinking of getting a gas thrower, but my dad always had problems with his, it leaked oil & every year it seemed he would have to get a $150 worth of work done on it, new gaskets, plug and the carburetor cleaned...this one, none of that stuff! plug it in and it always works. I've even used it on 3' drifts using the handle. 9" of snow, no problem... If you know it will be a big storm, go out and snow throw it every 6-8", it's quiet so I have even used it at 11pm at night with out waking the neighbors! I have a high 6' stone wall on one side of my driveway, this sucker shoots the snow right over it most of the time, unless its a really light powdery snow (which blows all over the place) or supper wet slush, which I then just blow it down the driveway until the wall is a little lower & I can shoot over it.. I would recommend a 12 gauge extension cord if you need 100'. Some folks say the cord is a pain, it's not that bad, I just keep it to one side all the time (usually the right side or clean side) When I'm done I use an AC cord reel to keep it manageable. I found the best way to do a driveway is first doing 2 passes along the wind side the full length of the driveway & then doing 45 deg. passes with the wind from behind you, which will keep the snow off your face! Hope this helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed Works great. I've used it in three storms so far. I was impressed how well it handled the heavy wet stuff. It will blow lighter snow quite far - 25 feet or more. Dealing with the electric cord is annoying but it works better than other smaller gas blowers I see in the neighborhood. The annoyance is worth it as the blower is very light and easy to store. I can take the push bar off and store it in a box for the summer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than shoveling! It's Murphy's Law...as soon as I caved and ordered this snowblower the temperatures hit near 70! Fortnuately, Mother Nature complied with one more snowfall recently and I had a chance to try out my snow blower. I had many restrictions to consider when purchasing a snow blower...I live in a townhouse and did not want to have to navigate a very heavy snow blower up and around from my backyard area. Neither did I really want to have to deal with storing gas and oil. Additionally, as I do live in a town house, the expense of a self propelled 2-stage snow blower was a bit of overkill as I have only to worry about a small walkway and clearing around my cars. However, I am a 54-year old woman and after last winter's freak storms that buried my cars in 4ft of snow I knew my back couldn't take another year of shoveling like that! As with shoveling, this snow blower required that I "keep up" with the snowfall so that it didn't get too deep. Don't think for a minute that clearing snow with this machine is effortless, but it is definitely less work and strain than doing it with a shovel. It handled the snow nicely and although the cord is a bit of a pain in the butt, as I used it I got the hang of it and definitely prefer the slight hassle to dealing with the gas and oil. It did not handle the harder wet snow that the plow so nicely dumped behind my cars as soon as I had finished clearing them out, but with patience and going slowly, it removed this as well. It does not clear the surface as well as a shovel, but going back with the shovel was effortless after removing the bulk with the snow blower. I would recommend this so anyone who does not have regular heavy snow fall and who is just trying to avoid pain and/or injury from shoveling.
