The Toro Recycler Gas Push Lawn Mower was easy to assemble by attaching the handle bar, attaching the bag (but not achieving a tight seal at the top) and adding in the oil ( provided) and gas. Some parts are plastic but that makes it lighter and easier to push. The mower cut the lawn well with only some of the cuttings flying out of the bag. Cutting the longer grass in the orchard which has dirt and drier grass & weeds was a different story. The dirt and grass cuttings spewed everywhere covering my husband and the mower itself in dirt & grass. So overall, this Toro mower is better for the lawn than it is for cutting weeds and grass where there is dirt. The gap at the top of the bag poses a bit of a problem. Next, we will try mower without the bag and see if that is better.

This is a nice mower that is working out perfectly for me. It is just right for places in my yard and around my home that are to small for my zero-turn but still to big for my weed-eater. Out of the box the only assembly was bolting on the push handle and adding the oil and both were accomplish easily. After reading the instructions it is recommended to never change the oil, just add if needed, so maintenance is not going to be much. Another nice feature is that its very easy to crank and my wife really appreciates that.

Well built mower. I've owned Toro mowers in the past. This one was easy to assemble and I like that the oil was in the box. Had it ready to start in about 25 minutes. Like they state , easy starting. One pull each time so far. This mower is outstanding as a recycler (mulching) mower. Almost no clippings left on the lawn. The few spots needed a second pass. But don't buy if you need a bag mower. Bag is small , sits at an odd angle and has a gap along the top that the clippings shoot out of.

The Toro Recycler 21 in. Briggs & Stratton High Wheel Gas Walk Behind Push Lawn Mower with Bagger arrived today and did not take me long to assemble it. It comes with 18oz of oil that must be put in and also requires unleaded gasoline. The mower started on the first pull and it did a good job of cutting my grass. The only con is the grass bag did not seal tight on top and grass flew out on me. I will have to find a fix for that problem. Overall, it will do a good job of mowing my grass around the house.

I ordered this mower on line and it was easy to unload and assemble. It comes with a 140 cc Briggs and Stratton engine which had plenty of power to cut my dry Bermuda grass. It has a two wheel height adjustment versus a normal four wheel adjustment which makes adjusting the mower height much easier. It has large wheels in the rear (around 10.5") which makes the mower easy to push. The engine has an improved gas cap over my old Briggs engine. The only real problem was the fact that the grass bag does not fit snugly against the frame. This allows grass to blow out of the gap which gets all over you while cutting. With some work I could probably a way to close that gap, but at present it is causing a problem.

The Toro 31 in. Briggs & Stratton Walk Behind Lawn Mower is a great mower. It arrived quickly, was well packaged, was easy to assemble and the oil came with the mower in the box. Just removed it from the box added the oil and gas and with just one pull it was ready to go. We have a very old lawn mower that I have fixed numerous times so this will be great. Had to adjust the height after I cut the grass too low. Adjusted easily and the yard looks great. Great price for this Toro and would highly recommend.

Nice features, but a near miss on the bagger. This mower has a lot of nice features that I like, which really surprised me that someone dropped the ball on the design of the bagger. The big problem with that is, as others have mentioned, there is a gap along the top where the hinged plastic blade door meets the bagger that allows grass to blow up at you while you mow. It's especially noticeable when you're cutting longer grass and if the wind is blowing in your direction. I was able to remedy this to some degree, however, by cutting a piece of foam pipe insulation, you know, the black foam that fits around your water pipes in the basement. I cut a piece to length to fill that gap and it seemed to work, but it would slide out sometimes. I think I'm going to use some contact cement to mount it permanently to the blade door. Did they even test this when they deemed it ready for production? Anyway, other than that, this mower has some great features. It was simple to put together even without the instructions. It came with a bottle of oil, which is good, because it doesn't ship with oil in the engine. Be sure to top it up before trying to start it. Mine took most of the bottle of oil to get it up to the full mark on the dipstick. The oil dipstick is in a convenient place where you can find it. Not buried near the deck like many are. It makes it easy to check/add oil if you need to. You won't even need a funnel. And it says you never have to change the oil either. Just add some when it needs it. The gas cap has a plastic retainer on it (see photo) so that you won't ever lose it. I've lost a few in my day when the vibration of the engine just made them unscrew. Not gonna happen with this one. The wheel adjustment is nice, in that you only need to adjust the two wheels on one side of the mower and it raises or lowers the other wheel too. The wheel adjustments are easy to do, however, they are a bit confusing to get the deck level. The instructions will give you an idea how to set them. I just used a yardstick next to the front and back of the deck to make sure it was level, adjusting the wheels as I needed to to get a 2" deck height. It was set to 1 1/2" out of the box. The safety handle you have to engage to start and run the mower has a nice ergonomical design with a plastic cover that's more comfortable on your hands than just the metal handle. There is no primer bulb and no settings for choke and run, which I liked a lot. You just fill it with gas, check the oil and pull the handle and you're off to work. It usually starts on the first pull. Make sure you have the safety handle pulled back, though, or you won't be able to pull the rope. The motor runs strong and can handle about any lawn that you throw at it. It's easy to push and not too heavy, but it feels substantial, like you're pushing something that was built with quality. The large wheels in the back will make it a little easier to handle on lawns with rougher terrain. The mulching blade seems to do a pretty good job of shredding up the grass into a fairly fine cut that would probably be okay just to leave on your lawn if you didn't want to bag your grass. The other negative I might mention would be the instructions. They're the type that are all illustrations that almost seem like a puzzle to figure out what it's depicting. I'd rather have words explaining what's going on in the picture myself. It's like trying to read Egyptian heiroglyphics on the side of a pyramid. Still, I got the gist of it and was able to figure out what it was depicting. I'd say if you're looking for a quality push mower with a bagger, you can't go wrong with the Toro 21 in. Recycler.

This mower does a great job mowing. I used the bag when I mowed my lawn - a new experience for me, as I have never had a mower with a bag. It is nice to not have to rake the clippings, but even with my small lawn that was mowed a week ago, I had to empty it once before I could finish. One note about the bag - you have to clip it to the frame, and it was about more than my fingers wanted to do. That was the only difficult thing about the very minor assembly required. I also mowed down along my driveway around my trees. That area is all very tough prairie grass and there are bunches of wild yellow clover that was about 2 ft tall. Granted, it is dry now, so a bit easier to mow than when it is blooming, but I'd say this mower will do the job just fine. I really liked where the oil dipstick and filler tube is compared to my old mower of another brand. This one is much easier to get to. This mower is heavier than my old one, so harder for me to maneuver - plus, I wouldn't be able to lift this one into my pickup by myself to take to my neighbor's place where I help out with some mowing. I'll have to use a ramp for that. My old one I could lift without hurting myself.

Having used a hand-me-down, corded electric lawn mower for the last 2 years, I was certainly ready for a step up with this gas mower. I was not disappointed. Well familiar with the Toro brand, I code this model because I prefer to propel my own lawnmower. The large rear wheel makes maneuvering a breeze even though it isn’t self propelled. The mower came with some thing needing assembly but none of it was particularly difficult. The design of the rear bag is easy to mount and empty not to mention non-obtrusive. It never gets in the way. The mower is easy to start and run. It comes with oil ready to install for the mower’s first start. The motor is easy to start and is quite powerful. The mower leaves a great cut.

This mower does it all. I've had a hip replacement and one of the things I appreciate the most about this mower is the traction in rough and uneven spots with these 11-inch rear wheels. This new technology is amazing compared to the old ones I grew up with. No oil changes for the life of the engine, are you kidding me?! All you need to do is check and add oil as needed. Plus, you never need to prime or choke the engine! How easy is that?
