What is the no oil change about?

Asked by Prospectivebuyer May 7, 2021

Check the engine-oil level and add oil as needed. Changing the engine oil is not required, but if you want to change the oil, use the procedure in the Operator's Manual. View the Changing the Engine Oil section of the manual online at https://www.toro.com/getpub/181977. Thank you.

what is the horse power

Asked by manny May 1, 2021

Answers

With engines in walk-behind lawn mowers, we use gross torque ratings to measure the engine’s power rather than horsepower. Gross Torque is the immediate twisting force required to turn a blade at a given moment. Thus, torque is the way to measure the rotational force a machine can produce which is exactly what a walk behind mower does as it cuts grass. The gross torque for this mower is 5.50 ft. lb.

It cuts pieces of grass finely and nourishes the grass you are cutting. Of course this is if you are not bagging it.

What is the difference between a rear wheel drive and front wheel drive lawn mower

Asked by Myla April 23, 2021

Answers

I would never recommend a front wheel drive lawn mower, I purchased this mower and it is very poorly designed. Front wheel drives do not have the grabbing power as the rear wheel drives. Any slight incline and it becomes worthless, think about this, it is natural to push down on the front of a mower when pushing. The best thing about this mower, it blew up and caused me to go buy a Honda.

Defective design
This isn’t your father’s lawnmower. They just don’t make Toros with the same quality like they used to. Kudos to Toro for replacing nearly all metal with plastic in this design - makes the unit feel very junky and cheap. That having been said the deal breaker for me was the fact that the clippings bag doesn’t close all the way. It leaves a gap with the plastic latch so as you’re pushing along debris just smacks you in the face. Here’s a photo of how I tried to duct tape it shut to no avail. When I returned the unit the Home Depot rep said that it’s a known issue with the entire current lineup of Toros. He then steered me to a Ryobi. I never write reviews but this was just so bad I had to speak up. What a trash product.

As I'm getting older it is getting harder to push the old heavy lawnmower around the yard. This TORO is by far a lot lighter then your average every day lawnmower. They have taken quite a few of the original pieces that would be a metal of some sort and changed them to an industrial strength plastic where possible. This has lightened the lawnmower significantly. One of the things I love the most is that you can adjust the wheels in 1/4" increments. I like to cut my grass at 2 3/4" tall and I can set that exactly with the two levers that adjust both the front and back wheels with a simple flip of the adjustment arm. You no longer have to adjust each wheel height independently. One thing that will take a little getting used to is there is no primer bulb or choke on this mower. You simply pull the starter cable to start the mower. I'm so used to pumping the primer bulb and setting the choke that this all seems odd to me. I guess technology is a wonderful thing. Another thing that is odd is the fact that you don't have to change the oil in this mower. You simply top it off when the level is low using their "top it off premium engine oil". The wheels on the mower seem to grab fairly well while mowing. They are a good size and allow you to turn the mower easily. I also like that this mower is self propelled. It makes it a lot easier to push since my front lawn has a slope to it. I love that you can either bag or mulch your grass clippings. I've been a "bagger" all my life but once Spring arrives I'm going to try mulching to see how I like it and how the grass responds. I'm going to assume this Briggs & Stratton engine is going to be as reliable as my old mower. My last gas mower lasted 14 years and I only got rid of it because the deck finally rotted out on it. The old Briggs & Stratton motor was still going strong but it was time for a new mower. I did have one small defect on my mower and that was where the front right wheel was supposed to "click" into the plastic housing. It looked like someone tried to force the wheel arm into the housing and bent/deformed the plastic so I had to do a little surgery to get the wheel to click in. This took me several minutes to fix and looks like it probably happened on their assembly line. Other then the above defect this lawn mower is super easy to put together. It comes about 95% assembled and all you have to do is remove some plastic protective coverings, attach the handle and put the bag together. Once this is all done you just add the supplied oil to the proper level and put some gas in it and you are done. All in all it was super easy and now I hopefully have another lawnmower for 15 years to 20 years.

Love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lawnmower by Toro is lightweight, easy to maneuver, has plastic wheels and metal gears. I found it very easy to start and cut my yard with. It is very durable and made of quality materials. I cut grass as a side job and this is one of the best lawnmowers I've ever used before.

Works awesome, variable speed is great. Not real happy with the way the rear bag seals, some grass escapes around the seal. But overall it’s a great lawnmower! Sure wish it had a oil drain plug, I know you do not have to change the oil on this model but I like changing the oil, my last lawnmower lasted 45 years.

The Toro mower is replacing my environmentally friendly push mower. As age has become a factor and I can no longer push mower on my own the Toro Recycler 21 in. Briggs and Stratton mower is my pain reliever solution. Besides being a solution to my age handicap, It also does a nice job mowing my front and back lawn. I can tweak the low wheel to the cut height I prefer. Having a rear wheel drive makes navigation and mowing easy. The gas is my least favorite part of the mower, but it makes the walk behind and making steady mowing lines simple to do. It is also a self propelled lawn mower. The bagger is easy to install and allows me to continue to use my clippings. Not having the need to change oil is an added convenience and I just needed to buy gas. The assembly instructions manual needs written instructions and only had tiny pictograms, however it was easy enough to follow.

Get’s the job done !
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Toro lawn mower has truly done a service to my lawn and has definitely made yard work for my a lot more pleasant. Right out the box the mower comes almost completely assembled, I only needed to Attach the handle and grass bag and simply pour in some oil that was included for use in the box. I use 91 gas because I personally believe fuel with no ethanol is best for conserving the engine life on this bad boy. It only took one pull on this toro mower to get her engine roaring and it cleaned up my lawn surprisingly really well. I did find myself having to empty the grass bag more often than I would like to because it would sort of lose suction or force due to the grass bag being a bit high making the grass gather in the front of the bag rather than pushing itself back but other than that this mower by Toro has made my life in the yard so much easier!

Nice light-duty self-propelled mower at a great price. Assembly out of the box was quick -- basically just attach the handle, add the included quart of oil, and gas it up. Started on the second pull and on every pull after that. Self-propelled system pulls strongly (handy on the steep uphill area in our front yard), and the no oil-change approach is a relief. The handle does fold, but involves unscrewing the locking knobs; spring-loaded would be quicker and much more convenient. It's late in the mowing season, but I gave this a trial run on our 7500-sq. ft. yard, recently overseeded and pretty dense with tall fescue (not the easiest for a mower) and a good helping of fallen leaves. Mower performed pretty well -- plenty of power, bag collects well, but a bit disappointing in the mulching department. Lots of leaf and grass bits close to 2" in size. Height adjustment was easy -- two levers -- and cut was smooth as expected with a new unit. Fit and finish is acceptable, a bit on the flimsy side, but all told, though, for a self-propelled unit at this very competitive price point, this comes recommended.

Works Great!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Toro 21" Variable Speed Gas Lawnmower about two weeks ago and it has really made yardwork much easier. The directions are simple and it only takes a few minutes to put together. The engine starts on the first pull, runs smooth and it's easy to adjust the height for a perfect cut. I have a big yard and a lot of trees, so there's grass and leafs everywhere. This Toro lawnmower is self propelled and pretty much drives itself, cutting mowing time in half. I love that I don't have to worry about raking the leafs before I mow, it picks those up with the grass trimmings. Not only does it work great leaving a nice even cut, it looks great too!!

I can't wait until next grass cutting season!!! This shiny new Toro Recycler lawn mower is 21" wide and self propelled. It is a beauty!!! I have a walk behind power mower now. This self propelled mower is a really nice upgrade to what I have. I like the low wheel design and it is a recycler that comes with a nice sized bagger. This mower's Briggs & Stratton engine does not need an oil change! What a bonus. Just keep oil in the engine, add some gas and that's it!!! I'm not using it until Spring because it is past grass cutting season here in Michigan. This machine is going to make grass cutting a breeze!!! Can't wait till Spring!!!
