        Q:Is it easy to start?
        by|Oct 16, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, there! Thanks for your question. Starting this unit #21321 is fairly simple. To start the engine, hold the blade-control bar against the handle and pull the recoil-start handle. Note: When you pull the recoil-start handle, pull it lightly until you feel resistance, then pull it sharply. Allow the rope to return to the handle slowly. You can view more information on page 13 of the manual at: https://www.toro.com/getpub/219493. Thanks!

          Very impressed!
I have a 20-year-old Toro high-wheel Personal Pace mower that is a veritable tank! It's showing its age now however so I decided to buy a new one. I ordered this online. I was surprised at its relatively small size compared to my old "Big Bubba" and I almost returned it because I doubted its ability to cut my yard but it cuts like a boss with the blades raised up to the middle notch to accommodate thick, tall, wet grass -- no problem! Even "Big Bubba" used to bog down and stall in that! HAPPY!

            Rear Wheel lock won't lock
Absolute piece of junk. Just pulled this out of the box. Put together easily. Adjusted the wheels. Started mowing. The rear wheel latch keeps falling out of place, dropping the blade so low that it churns dirt and tore out the grass. The plastic holder for the rear wheels is too thin and too narrow. I had to put the lever back in place over 50 times to finish my small townhouse lawn. I should have read the reviews but had faith in the Toro brand. No longer. Lack of quality, but I bet corporate profits are up. Returning this asap and buying a different brand.

Thank you for providing this review. We are sorry to hear that the height of cut lever was not staying in place on your self-propelled mower. We invite you to Toro.com/manual which provides you with access to the owner's manual and other publications. The manual does provide recommendations on cutting and the height of cut. Our machines also come with a manufacturer's warranty that protects you if a manufacturing defect occurs. You can locate our network of independent authorized service dealers using Toro.com/locator. The dealers will complete a physical inspection to determine what steps need to be taken for you. Toro

              Design flaw
Do not buy if you need to bag. I have had this for two years and only mulched the clippings. No problems. Once you start trying to bag, the design sprays you with clippings. They must not have done ANY testing of this product. I will never buy a Toro product again and quite frankly, I think less of Home Depot for selling me this. Look at the photos, it’s literally designed to blow into your face.

                My First Toro(Not my last)
This thing is a monster. I absolutely love the ease of use. It makes my grass look like a $300 lawncare professional did it. I am amazed at how it can pull me around like I'm nothing at all. Mind you, I weigh 315lbs and 6'4". It has changed my lawn mowing game. It cuts so fast and pulls so strong, I'm actually getting a good work out. Only took 45 minutes to mow my 1 acre lot. Only thing is don't cut on the lowest setting if your grass 6">. Setting 2 or 3 is perfect. Anyways look below.

                  DO NOT BUY
3 in 1 days. I’ve had it. This is so cheaply made. I went back to back to back to the store to exchange it 3 times and after the 3rd time, I just went with another brand. The starter handle keeps breaking down as soon as it comes out the box. The 3rd time, I tried to be gentle and it started working fine compared to the first two. Then halfway project, it happened again. I was so livid. Stay away from this cheap brand.

                    Not the Toro I remember....
The mower was easy to assemble and started right up, so I was excited as I began my first cut, which oddly enough came after a brief afternoon downpour. With the grass still wet, the Toro powered right through. Something I wouldn't have tried with previous competitor models. However, with the next couple cuts, I noticed a troubling trend with the rear bag system. Nothing worse than getting your arms, face and body sprayed with grass clippings on a muggy 85 degree day! A fix is needed!

Rear wheels have a odd axle design
After using this more for a little more than a year I have found the the higher I raise the rear wheels the lower some kind of weird support axle goes down. This make no since because in drags thought the lawn and pulls up the turf behind the mower. I would not recommend this mower if you what grass keep at 2 1/2" inches or higher. I would really like to find a way around the height adjust bar/ axle support to be removed so this problem is resolved.

                        Absolute garbage
This mower cannot be returned after 30 days, mine is 60 days old and can’t hardly make it through a 1/4 acre yard of 2” weedy grass. It bogs down in recycler mode until it quits and Home Depot won’t do anything about it. My 22 yr old lawn boy works better than this mower and it’s missing half a wheel. Do better, Home Depot.

                          Otherwise a great mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the easiest to start mowers I have ever owned or operated. I only gave it 3 stars because there is a gap between the collection bag and the mount which causes the debris to fly right into my face. Also, the mower seems to blow as much clipping out the side of the mower as it does into the bag.

                          Great Self-Propelled Mower
Replaced my 20yr old Craftsman push mower with this Toro. It was easy to assemble and once I added oil and gas, it started right up. Very happy with the way it cuts my grass. It’s feels well built and I like that it only has two wheel-height control levers. Also, the self-propelled feature works great. I was considering buying a Honda mower but am glad I got this Toro.
