Questions & Answers

Is it possible to replace the High-Wheels with ones that are the same as the front wheels?

Asked by allened September 23, 2020

No. The axle was designed to only support 11” rear wheels. Thank you.

Unable to start

Asked by Dan September 22, 2020

Try the guide that comes with the mower. It can sometimetimes be very stubborn if not followed in the direct order or the cables aren't pulling enough. I'm sure if you wanted to check if it's the battery the HD would allow you to exchange one out on the lot to see if it fires another.

How long should a fully charged battery last? How long does it take to charge the battery?

Asked by Cheryl September 19, 2020

Mine lasts long enough to Bag the front yard stopping twice to empty the clippings and then only Mulch the back non stop and the Battery lasts to mow my 7000 Sq, Ft lawn. Variables will always effect this due to how fast you pace yourself mowing to the length of grass, dry or damp. Overall you should take the variables into account before deciding on the standard 6.0 AH or pay the extra for the 7.5 AH model. Me im retired and can do it all as described above buti normally cut the front 1 day and the backyard the following day. Both days late in the evening due to the heat & humidity here in Houston, Texas.

how do you adjust the speed

Asked by anita September 15, 2020

Toro’s innovative Personal Pace® self-propel system automatically senses and adapts to your walking speed. To operate, simply walk with your hands on the upper handle and your elbows at your sides, and the machine will automatically keep pace with you. Walk faster and the mower self-propels faster to match your pace. Thank you.

What is a walk behind personal pace mower?

Asked by Horacio September 10, 2020

A walk behind personal pace mower is a self-propelled mower with the ability to match the speed of your walk: There are push mowers, where you are the driving force of the mower by pushing the mower as you cut the grass. The self-propelled mower has two motor driven wheels: Some self-propelled mowers have two speeds: slow and fast. A personal pace self-propelled mower is similar to when driving your car; you have smooth acceleration/deceleration, which you control. I hope this helps!

Power without the noise!

I was very stoked about using this mower! Once I did, it blew all my expectations out of the water. It has power for longer grass, but is light and easy to use, with out the noise or gas!

This is my third Toro lawn mower. My first two were Toro gas Super Recycler's (model 20382) with the Personal Pace (which I love). Each mower lasts me about 10 years and this time I decided to try electric. My lawn is of medium size and it usually took me about 45 minutes to cut my lawn. I purchased the Toro Model 20363 with the 60 Volt 6 Ah battery and charger. The amazing part is how light it is. There is no effort to push it even in thick grass and simple to turn 90 or 180 degree turns because it is so light (this is a real time saver). The electric motor actually speeds up and slows down automatically depending on the grass thickness. All that added up to knocking off almost 15 minutes to cut the lawn. The battery has just enough charge to finish my entire lawn, and it only tales 3 hours to fully re-charge the battery. The big wheels in the back help a lot and the new recycling blade works great (even in wet grass). I think the steel deck will be even better than my previous mower which was aluminum and they even put in a drain hole so water doesn't sit on top of the mower. The only problem I have run into was the springs for the battery cover popped off because the lid would not open. I kept both springs off and I like it better because it does not snap shut. I have used the mower four times and had the same happy experience each time. I am anxious to see how many years the battery last.

Expectations Met !
Customer review from logo
After having purchased, tested, & returned 3 other comparable competitors Lawnmowers this Toro Model 20363 met all of my personal Expectations. The ease of being able to maneuver and specifically go back & forward in tight places is where this product far outshines the competition. The mulching capability is outstanding with its Blade design and leaves the lawn appearing like i used the Bagger.attachment. The extra weight this platform from the Gasoline model brings is what adds to the stationary stability when cornering. I have around 7K sq. ft. and the 6.0ah battery mowing St. Augustine grass every 8 to 10 days has thus far been sufficient on 1 charge.

Great mower
Customer review from logo
I bought this a month ago have used several times on a normal size city lot. Mower was easy to set up. It is quiet and easy to use, my 12 year old son has cut the lawn a couple of times with no issues. I am much more comfortable with him using this self propelled mower the our old heavy gas mower, especially with the slip of our yard. For sure the 60v is the way to go if you are looking at a battery mower, way better than a 40v, which I tested before deciding on this Toro. I had let the grass go for a while before the first use and it performed great. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent Expectations Met

This Mower using essentially the same lower identical platform as the proven Gasoline model with the Personal Pace feature has met my expectations after having purchased & tested most everyone of its Competitors sold at the Big Box Stores. I have around 7,000 sq, ft. to mow and it mows it on one 6.0 AH fully charged battery. How long the Battery retins its length of longevity i have no idea, but hopefully more then one season. Overall the ability to manuever the mower around tight areas forward & backwards is where it shines compared to all the other brands. Highly suggest trying this one out first as i learned through a lot of testing competitor brands this Toro tops my list & personal needs.

I purchased this to replace my 31 year old John Deere 14SB mower. I've had a Toro before and liked it so wanted to try one again. Decided to go with the battery operated one for a few reasons. I like that I can turn it on its side or back to hose it out, without fear of gas or oil leaking out somewhere it shouldn't. It's easier to hose it down rather than the washout port (have to move it to concrete, lower all the wheels, run the water and mower, then clean of the concrete... what a chore!) I like no more gasoline, spark plugs, oil and air filter changes. Toro says it should cut a quarter to a third of an acre on a full charge... I have just under a quarter acre of lawn and sometimes I finish, sometimes I don't. But I can throw the battery on the charger for 20-30 minutes while I blow the driveway and walks and I get enough charge to finish the last 5-10 minutes. I have a bumpy yard in places and this Toro is lots lighter than the John Deere so it bounces around some. The personal pace takes some getting used to, but it works. I borrowed a neighbor's a few years ago so I knew what I was getting into. I'd like to be able to push the mower without the self-propel more easily, holding the bail down with one hand and pushing with the other is cumbersome. There ought to be a way to clamp down he bail, but I know that defeats the safety of stopping the motor when you let go. I'm a little worried about wall mounting the charger. It's kind of heavy with the battery inserted and the plastic mounting holes seem a little lacking, we'll see. It would be nice if the charger worked quicker... 2.5 hours to a full charge is a lot. If I get really annoyed at having to recharge to finish, can always get the hedge trimmer with the 2.5 AH battery. It's only $30 more than the battery itself! Yeah the wheel hubs are plastic with no bearings, but this is a light machine so I don't think it will be a problem. Heck I had to replace my John Deere wheels every few years because they wore smooth so quickly, I think the Toro will do lots better. All in all for this price I think the larger 7.5 AH battery should be included so there is no question of finishing the job. But that Toro model is way more expensive (and not readily available) for simply 1.5 AH more battery. Perhaps Toro should consider some others' model (E*o) and include two smaller batteries, say two of the 4.0 AH ones? Then at least when one goes out you can charge it while using the 2nd one, and it might charge up enough if needed to finish if the 2nd one empties? It doesn't have to have two battery ports in the mower, it's no problem to swap it out.

Uneven Cuts

I chose an electric lawn mower as it is good for the environment and was tired of gas and jerking a pull cord. I chose the Toro for the name and the solid steel base instead of plastic. I love that I can just push a button and go. I love how it stores compactly. I am not in love with the cut. It leaves tall blades of grass behind -- seems to be missing cut in the center. It also does not mulch well -- I have 1-2 inch blades of grass when this mower is toted as mulching into small bits. Never see small bits. I though I would wait a bit and use it for a few months thinking it would improve into the cutting season. Well.... it's now July and I continue to have the same disappointments with the quality of the cut.

37 year old Toro mower replace by electric Toro.
Customer review from logo
When our Toro mower that my parents bought in either 1982 or 1983 finally quit, we purchased the battery model Toro Smartstow model. Since I have been mowing our yard and the neighbors yard I thought having the old mower fixed and using it for the neighbors' yard would save the battery mower from overuse. I didn't think the battery would hold up for doing both yards. However, I was surprised and delighted to find that the new mower does both yards just fine. I did have the old mower repaired, it only needed a coil, and have kept it. It was used at my parents home until they passed away and then used at our home since.

Really wanted a battery lawn mower to do the job. No gas smell in the garage and nothing leaking anywhere was enough of a dream to make me try this machine. Cuts great and is easy to use but my tiny 1/5 acer yard is too much for it. To make it worse my neighbor cut his and went inside while I'm stuck waiting for the battery to recharge enough to finish my back yard. Very disappointed.
