A:  I have not found turning too difficult while moving. To turn around at the end of a pass I press down on the handle and turn using the rear wheels, pivoting on one.

      A:  21462

      by|Oct 3, 2022

A:  Hi, Tom! Thanks for your question. There are two gas units comparable to unit 21466, units 21464 and 21465. The difference in these two units is 21464 comes equipped with electric start, whereas 21465 comes equipped with SmartStow — both features of 21466, so we recommend basing your decision on which feature you prioritize most. You can view unit 21465 online at: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Toro-Recycler-22-in-Briggs-Stratton-SmartStow-Personal-Pace-High-Wheel-Drive-Gas-Walk-Behind-Self-Propelled-Lawn-Mower-21465/314426545. Hope this helps, thanks!

A:  We have used it for 2 years and are delighted with this thing! We mow about 1/4 acre with some hills - which it climbs easily. Takes about 45-60 minutes. No complaints.

A:  Largely depends on the height of the grass, if you usually cut it when wet, and the age of the batteries. Under normal circumstances, you should get a minimum of a half hour before experiencing issues.

            by|Oct 15, 2022

A:  Hi, Max! Thanks for your question. The runtime may vary based on mowing conditions however, with a 3-phase brushless motor with RunSmart onboard intel that optimizes RPM and torque, you receive excellent runtime from your machine. That said, this unit has about a 40-50 minute runtime from a full charge. Thanks, again!

A:  Hi, Jena! Thanks for your question. Absolutely! If the grass bag is on the machine and the bag-on-demand lever is in the bagging position, move the lever to the recycling position. You can view more details on recycling your clipping on page 14 of the manual at: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/fb/fbe127c7-2198-44ac-84bc-f3490da39331.pdf. Thanks!

A:  Can use the included bag or with out as mulched. BTW, a second battery will cost 250.00. Half the price of the mower itself. Battery does not fast charge so you will most likely need another.

A:  Te bag is included but is optional. You would not use the bag for mulching, There is a lever to switch from bagging to mulching.

Get ready to empty bag a lot
I had a gas mower, heard about the new battery operated. Really looked and tried to find the best…Toro has a good name. Sooooo disappointed. You have to empty the bay about 4 times as often. Literally about 25% full and you have to empty the bag. Wish I could get my money back.

                          Two major flaws
The two major flaws in this mower are its bag/pickup design, and it's engine torque. This mower only fills the bag up about 15% before the hole gets plugged and the airflow drops so no more grass clippings get fed into the bag. If I mow my entire yard (1000 sqft) without emptying the bag I have to rake the yard and end up with a huge pile of clippings. This is also after only 1 week of grass growth. For the torque, the motor will stall if I drop the blades down at all past about 3 inches height.

                            Brakes in a years time
So I did some research and everyone was raving about the Toro battery power Or the green works. So Toro was a good brand name, hear lots of good things about it. so I purchased the Toro 22-inch lawn mower with battery kit. At first the little bit of grass that is left on the side and behind I can deal with. This is because I cut my grass twice in two different directions. So your year has gone by and the things are starting to break on the self-propelled lever keeps popping off and causing a problem when I’m mowing. Don’t use it very often because I just like to push at my own speed. I know self adjust to your speed. Also every time I fold my lawnmower away the cables keep on getting caught. So I have to move these out of the way to prevent. At the end of this I would’ve went with a cheaper brand and probably got better quality and a better cut.

                                Piedmont Virginia mowing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our third cordless electric mower. Typically the ones we’ve had in the past were okay for a couple of years, then the batteries started to fail. The re-conditioned lead acid batteries barely lasted one season. They were 24 volt, non-self propelled, and pretty feeble in tall grass even when new. The frequent battery replacement seemed to offset the improved sustainability of electric vs. gasoline power. I am very satisfied with the Toro My Ride Time Cutter zero turn mower that I use for our acreage, so I bought my wife a Toro 60 volt self-propelled cordless mower for her front lawn. It performs well, so far. The charge holds longer with self propulsion than the previous mowers did without it. The bagging system works well and hasn’t clogged even in tall grass. She’s happy with it. We’re thinking this battery should last much longer and the Toro quality mower will also.

Awful Cut Quality. Lightweight, easy use & storage
I'm disappointed to say the least. I have tried all of Toro's recommendations. The mower cuts great when the motor runs at max RPM, however in order to save the battery, the motor controller commands the motor to run at a reduced RPM unless it senses heavy grass. The issue with this is that when the motor runs at the reduced RPM, the blade does not have enough lift or tip speed to properly cut the grass. I have done all of Toro's recommendations. I tried cutting slower, tried cutting with more overlap, tried cutting every 2 or 3 days (Indiana Fescue here), I sharpened and balanced the blade, I never mow when the grass is wet or damp. The mower barely has enough RPM to throw the clippings out of the rear discharge chute, because of this, I always use the mulch setting. The mower stores well, and the 60v system has a lot to offer. I am very disappointed, I spent my hard earned money on a mower that doesn't mower properly. I'm highly considering a Honda. The platform is very promising, but the motor just doesn't run fast enough to make the mower complete it's one job: to properly CUT GRASS. I really hope someone from Toro reaches out.

First Impression: A good lawn Mower.
When I first opened the package it was very easy to put together and get going. But the handle does not fit well, it still allows for the mower to work, but it rattles when I push. The left wheel was also very loose, I had to take it apart and fix it my self. Nothing that would compromise the integrity of the machine, but seemed easier than going through the whole return process and I really needed to mow my yard. The battery with full charge didn't even get to half my lawn.

                                    I don't regret going electric
I owned a gas-powered Toro Recycler mower since we bought our house 15 years ago and it faithfully did its job. This season, I decided to go electric, as I was tired of the hassle with getting gas, oil changes and the fumes and noise. When I did my research, I noticed that there was now this electric version of the Toro Recycler and it caught my attention. What I loved about my old mower was the Personal Pace self-propelling mechanism that helps to drive the mower along at the pace I am walking. When I found out that the electric version of the Toro Recycler comes with the same technology, I was sold. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to charge up the battery. The first thing I noticed when I started mowing was how quiet it was compared to the gas mower. The second thing I noticed was how light it was to push through the yard, with fewer vibrations. It almost feels like you are vacuuming the yard rather than mowing it. The cut is pretty nice and even (see attached photo). For the most part, I use the recycling option. The clippings are sometimes forming little clumps along the wheels, but a quick brush-over with a rake and they can easily stay on the grass and fertilize it. My old mower did that, too, so maybe this is normal. I have also tried the bagging attachment and it works perfectly. One thing I realized only after I had bought this mower was that it has no side discharge option anymore. Earlier versions of the electric mower seem to have had it according to some reviews, but now it is completely gone. I was afraid this was going to be a problem first, because I sometimes used that option when the grass was too long to recycle and would fill up the clippings bag within one minute and the constant stop and start to empty it was a pain. In the end, I do not miss that feature, because compared to the old gas mower, this electric mower starts at the push of a button. So stopping and restarting to empty the clippings bag is super easy. As for battery life, the web site and some reviewers said a single battery charge holds up for mowing up to a third of an acre. I have a third of an acre, and I find this a bit tight in the estimate. Yes, I was able to do the first mowing of the season with a single battery charge, but once the grass started growing thicker and longer, I can get up to 75% of the yard done before the battery runs out. However, I found a perfect routine where I would mow the back yard on a fully charged battery, then put the battery back on the charger while I do some other yard clean-up or edge trimming for an hour, and then I finish the front yard on the freshened-up battery with no problems. What I also like about the electric mower is the dynamic blade speed adjustment. If the grass is light and thin, it runs on slightly lower speed. If it "feels" that it has to work hard, it spins at higher speed, so it easily cuts the grass, and it slows down again when the rough patch is over to preserve battery. It is also easy to clean. Take the battery out, flip the mower on its side and hose down the underside of the steel deck after use, so the grass does not cake up the underside. You can then easily let it sit on its side in the shed or in the yard for a while, so it completely dries. I never dared to do that with the gas mower, being afraid of oil or gas leaking out or the engine flooding somehow. I have mowed the yard over half a dozen times by now, and I have zero complaints about this mower's capability and power to keep up compared to the old gas powered model. No more pre-mowing runs to the gas station to fill up the gas canister and deal with oil changes. The only regret I have is that I did not switch to this electric Toro Recycler sooner.
