Too many variables to answer that question. In a nut shell, I can mow the front and back yards with 25% battery charge left. I have a 80 X 175 size lot with a 1500 sqft home. The thickness and height of the grass plays into the calculation. If the mower's computer detects motor strain it ramps up the power, that will affect length of run time. If you have a rather large yard, pick up a second battery.

What are the dimensions of the box?

Shouldn't be a problem. I got it in the back seat of a BMW 328, which is a pretty small sedan. It was tight, but went in.

The 21" mower is shipped with a 60 volt 6.0 amp hour battery. The Watt Hour formula is (Ah)*(V) = (Wh). For example, This TORO mower has a 6 Ah battery rated at 60 V, the power is 6Ah * 60V = 360Wh.

how loud decibels is it?

Asked by David April 23, 2021

I can't provide a decibel level, but here is my subjective assessment: - I always wore hearing protection with my gasoline push mower. No need to with the Toro. - My wife cannot hear the Toro from inside the house, vs the gasoline mower which could easily be heard. - I think most of the sound is from the whirring blades more than the motor.

Yes. It's very easy to maneuver when not using the propulsion. This wasn't true with my previous (name brand) gas mower. That mower was hard to pull back even when not engaged. This Toro basically is free wheeling when not engaged.

Nice mower for the price!
Feels a tad delicate but does great on established lawns and turf. I would’nt take it “off-road” however. The 6 amp battery easily allows me to cut my medium sized front and back yard on a single charge. Stores nicely and is quiet. I let the sun charge it off my solar kit, takes 126watts.

This mower cuts well, but it lacks common features that my other lawn mowers have, making this feel outdated. Due to these issues I would not recommend it as there are better options. This did not come with a side discharge and that seemed like a standard item for my other mowers, regardless of the brand. Raising and lowering the deck is not as easy as my other mowers. The bars felt puny, so I feel like it may break easily while in use. This mower lacks headlights and requires a starter key. Knowing me, I will probably lose it, in between transporting it and do not want to leave a task unfinished if I can't find it. In addition to fixing those issues, I would like to have a fuel guage that is easily accesible so that as you are using the mower you can easily see it. As you start it, it takes about 2 seconds for the blades to revolve , initially I was not sure if I started it correctly, be sure enough it was on. I used this on my small yard and at 2 bars with the 6.0 battery, that was enough to complete the yard. It cut the grass well, but the lack of features made me wish I had my other mower instead The one advantage this has over my other mowers is the essy to fold handle. You simple unlock and lift to operate or fold down to stow. My other lawn mowers require extra steps such as extending the handles to a certain point and locking them in that position. For a steel deck mower this is pretty light. Loading it into my pickup was very easy.

Many improvements
There are a lot variants this model out there, and this seems to be the newest. Be careful which model you are researching and buying at the store. Noticeable changes include: 1. Removal of the side discharge (not needed, it mulches great!) 2. Removal of the self pace system (drive responds instantly, moves at a single speed like a traditional mower) 3. Removed lever to switch between mulch/bag modes (anytime the bag is off, you are good to mulch) Overall I think this design is less gimmicky, and more like a simple traditional mower compared to the competition. This Toro has higher quality parts than the Craftsman that I just returned (metal > plastic) and has more reliable owner support than EGO. I feel good about my choice to go with this mower. I just mowed my yard with about 4500 sqft of grass and it's still showing 2 bars left in the battery, perhaps enough to swap the battery into a trimmer and finish the yard. It was quiet enough for me to listen to music with my noise-cancelling earbuds.

Oh I am in love with this Toro recycler 21 inch Smart Stow 60 volt brushless cordless battery walk behind mower. It is awesome! Just press the button and go! No more cords to pull, no more gasoline, no more oil changes or filter replacements, or spark plug replacements. It can be self-propelled and walk-behind pace is also good. I have done a lot of xeriscaping and raised vegetable beds in my front and back yard so battery time for actual mowing is way more than adequate. Comes together very easily, almost just pull it out of the box and ready to use. Cutting Heights are from 1 1/4 inches to 3 and 3/4 inches in half inch increments. The battery removal and reinsertion is quick and easy and the charger takes up very little floor space. Just keep your blades sharpened like on any other Mower and you will be very happy . The only fiddly bit was attaching the grass catcher bag. That might be difficult if you have arthritis but other than that I just LOVE this thing. Highly recommend!

This is a decent lawn mower that works well, but some of the things could have been done better. The folding handle is nice, but it would have been nicer if they had added a couple of holes so that you could have some adjustment on the handle. As it is there is just one position. The drive system works fairly well but there is no easy way to adjust the speed, you can let go of the lower handle a little bit to slow it down but that is kind of awkward. Speaking of the drive handle, you need to let go of it to stop to turn, which means that you have to let go of the handle, grab back onto the handle to turn or back up the mower and then grab the handle and drive handle again. It could have been done better. The mower cuts and bags well and is easy to push with or without the drive being engaged. The height has 6 position and the cutting height can be adjusted from about 1 1/2 inches to about 3 1/2 inches. It is fairly easy to adjust there is one handle for the front and one for the rear, you just pull out on the handle and slide it to the desired position. The folding handle for storage is easy to operate, there is a lever on each side of the handle, you just rotate them a quarter of a turn, fold the handle then turn the levers back a quarter of a turn to lock it in the down position, to unfold just reverse the operation. The stand to store feature is nice as it takes up quite a bit less space. When folded the mower is about 39" tall, by 22" wide, by 16" deep. The run time is listed as about 45 minutes, this is fairly close to right and it will run about 85 minutes with no load. The mower will shut off when the battery is dead and then beeps as long as you are holding the run handle down. It takes about 2 hours to completely charge the battery from dead. I am not sure how the mower will behave in heavy grass as I have not had a chance to mow any heavy grass this spring. To start the mower you just squeeze the top handle and push the start button, the start button doubles as a key as it can be removed by pulling it out. The bagger works well but does drop a fair amount when you take it off the mower. The mower is fairly quiet a about 76 decibels at the operators position. The blade is belt driven. It would have been nice if they had taken advantage of the electric motor and made the cowl shorter or lower as some other brands have done. All in all a nice machine that works well but could have been refined a little more to make it a really nice machine.

This battery powered walk behind mower from Toro exceeded my expectations in almost every category. It is more powerful than I thought it would be. Even when using the self-propelled feature the mower has plenty of power. It is quiet, especially if you are cutting short grass and it doesn't have to ramp up the RPM's (done automatically). It folds up for easy storage. It comes with a great warranty. No more gas cans and running out of fuel, just put the battery on charge when you are done. The battery still had some charge left after I mowed for about 35 minutes and there are LEDs on the battery so you can monitor how much time you have left. The only thing I didn't like was that the self-propelled mode is too slow. I walk fast and like to mow fast and this mower doesn't speed up enough. This one complaint was not enough to remove a star from my 5 star rating.

Ok, so I was actually so impressed by the last few battery powered yard tools, that I decided to give the Recycler 21 in. SmartStow 60-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Battery Walk Behind Mower RWD 6.0 Ah w/ Battery&Charger a shot. No real assembly required except snapping the bag the the frame, just pop it out of the box extend the handle, charge the battery and you're ready to go. I always doubted the battery power tools because of the possibility of the battery running out or forgetting tro charge it and having to wait for it to charge. I tell you I was wrong. With this instead, there will be no more cord pulling to start, oil, spark plug or air filter changes or running out of gas. Just press the handle, hold the button and GO. The power that this put out, is something I only expected out of a gas powered mower. The manual says 45 minutes of battery time, it takes me usually 30-35 mins to do my yard which was plenty of time while even using the self propelled method, which I forgot to mention, just the right amount of power to plow through the job. If your the type that likes to get your exercise and push instead of using the self propelled method, the mower is light enough for you to get the job done and not break your back. If you're looking to make the switch and help save the environment, this is the mower to add to your collection.

Toro! You did it! I am now I convert to electric mowing! The Flex-Force power system on this lawnmower is nothing short of amazing. This was the first cut of the year and the Toro 60 volt electric mower plowed right through. The motor ramps up as the thickness of the grass or the incline increases. The soft start and stop is a great feature. The powered drive s very smooth and can adjust to your walking speed with the bail. The Toro electric has a steel deck (just like their gas versions) and the height adjustment is quick and easy with 2 adjuster levers, one in the front and one in the rear. Loudness; I couldn't believe how quiet this lawnmower is! You can actually talk in a normal voice to someone next to you while you're mowing. The real test of any lawn mower is how does it cut? Well, the Toro 60 Volt Flex-Force lawn mower cuts just as good as any gas mower. I did 2 tests one with the bag and one in mulch mode. In bagging mode the mower cut up the grass and picked up leaves & twigs with ease. The bag path is very good and when I removed the bag to empty it very little cuttings were spilling out. The cuttings were very fine. When I use the mower in mulching mode I was very impressed. The cuttings were almost imperceptible. I have included a before and after picture of a thick section of my lawn for comparison. I have about 1000 square feet of front yard and after mowing, the battery still had 75% of its charge. My backyard is a little bit larger at about 1500 square feet but I know I will easily be able to mow the front and rear yards on a single charge. The charge time was about 3 hours total and the charger can easily be mounted on the wall. Another feature that I really liked about the Toro Flex-Force mower is the Smart Stow Feature. 2 levers release the handle, you fold it down, stand the mower up on it's rear, and it uses about a quarter of the floor space over a regular lawnmower! What else do I love about this mower? No gas is needed, no oil is needed, no tune-ups are needed! Just charge the battery, plug it in and go! Toro put a lot of time and effort into this mower and it paid off.

Toro made a battery powered lawnmower that does everything I was hoping it would do. This mower checks all the boxes for me. It’s clear that battery technology is moving forward and really putting pressure on the standard gas-powered mowers. If you have an average sized large yard these battery mowers make a ton of sense. My observations: • Battery life. I mowed my front, sides, and back yard in 35 minutes. When I was finished, I checked the battery and still had 2 bars left on it. I took a pic. I also used the self-propelled function during all 35 minutes. In addition, this was my first mow of the year, so the mower got a great workout. My grass was very thick and tall in places. • I mulched and it did a very good job. The clippings were ‘fine’ just as I was expecting. This mower also comes with bagger if you catch your clippings. • Storage. Oh, I love this so much. The SmartStow is wonderful. It literally takes less than 10 seconds to fold this up after using it. Space is not easy to find in my garage so a mower with such a small footprint is huge for me. • Sound. It was obviously much quieter than my gas-powered lawnmower. I could listen to my music using my headphones at a much lower level. That was nice. • I’m happy this motor is brushless. This will add to the motor life and increase the battery run time. • This 60V Toro family of equipment is quickly growing, and I’ve been impressed with it. I have some of their other 60V products and I like them all. It’s clear that Toro is investing a lot in this 60V line and they see it as a key product segment. • The mower is lightweight and easy to maneuver. • The self-propelled function was smooth and started and stopped as expected. The walking pace was also good. • No more tune-ups! No more oil changes. No more spark plug replacements, No more engine filter replacements, no more smelly and messy fuel/oil. Just keep your blade sharp. Maintenance is about as easy as it gets. • Staring the mower is simple. Pull back on the handle and push a button. That’s it! • I couldn’t find any quality issues with the mower. It’s well built, and I expected many years of usage. I really love this mower. I’ve already had a couple of neighbors notice it and asked some questions. I can’t recommend it enough.

I ordered the Toro Recycler 21 in. SmartStow Cordless Walk Behind Mower RWD to replace a gas-powered mower. I need a mower that is self-propelled as my yard is on a very steep hill. The battery is rated for 45 minutes of use which gives me plenty of margin since my mow time with the gas mower is 20 minutes. The main attractions of the Toro cordless electric mower are elimination of the need for gasoline, the lower noise level during operation, not having to worry about spilling gas when removing the blade for sharpening, the ability to store it on its side or nose without leakage, and finally, the high ratings it received in Consumer Reports testing. The Out-of-Box-Experience was excellent. The directions on the box make it very easy to remove it without back strain. The only difficult part of getting it ready to mow was attaching the cloth clippings bag to the frame…not easy but it is certainly secure once it is on. Everything else was easy. The battery took about an hour to fully charge. Operation is very easy from battery installation to starting the mower to working the hand controls. Adjusting mower cutting height is a snap. The self-propelled drive pulls it easily up my very steep yard and the torque will easily handle my Kentucky Blue Grass. I am especially looking forward to mowing while listening to music through my headset instead of wearing dedicated ear protectors.
