AnswersSorry, but NO! This snow cab is a PITA to put onto the snow thrower. It relies on the rigidity of the snow blower to maintain it's shape. If you disconnect it from the snow blower it will just collapse and damage itself.
Do you need the weight kit in order for this to work properly

AnswersYes. The snow cab is pretty heavy and mounts on the snow blower handles. This extra weight unbalances the snow blower and the front will lift. I installed the Toro weight kit and it works as advertised. The weight kit is easy to install but it does require drilling a couple of mounting holes at the front of the snow blower.

AnswersIt's designed to fit all power max two stage snow throwers but don't bet on it. The instructions are pathetic and the Toro customer help line isn't worth much. The manual pictures don't match the actual product and metal parts are not coated with a rustproofing paint or powder coat.

I ordered the Toro snow cab for my 928 Power Max HD snow blower as it was a Toro made accessory. The order arrived quickly and was well packed. The metal frame comes unassembled and the Toro assembly instructions are not very clear. The directions have basic sketches that lack clarity. I had to use a lot of trial and error fitting of the frame to get it right. It took a little over an hour to assemble using basic hand tools.
The furnished hardware is very low quality. Not sure why they used poor quality hardware as Toro is usually pretty good on their hardware. The nuts, bolts and washers are very cheaply made and just zinc plated. I expect the hardware to start rusting pretty quickly once it gets wet. In addition, the window cutouts in the vinyl cab were cut very unevenly - the cuts are not straight and the stitching is just ok. This does not impact the functionality but I expected better from Toro at this price. I also installed the recommended Toro weight kit on the front of the snow blower. The weight kit is required to balance the snow blower due to the added snow cab in the rear. The weight kit was very easy to install with no issues. In summary, the Toro snow cab is just ok and does not meet the usual Toro quality standards I expected. I would not purchase these item again.

Had to return it. The holes on bracket didn't line up to the holes on the snowblower. Very disappointed for the time spent trying to assemble it, with customer service and returning it.

I had this cab on my last snowblower and after 14 years of tough Buffalo winters, its time for a new one. Snowblower that is..I will probably remove it from my old blower and install it on my new one. The material is still in very good shape. The windows are a little scratched but no cracks. My biggest problem is the steel frame cracked in several slots over the years, I have a light duty 110volt mig welder that I re welded the broken spots as they failed. I added several braces and that stopped any further failures. I see all the generic cabs for quite a bit less $ and considered them, but if you want a cab that fits properly, allows the user to access all the controls, and last many many years, spend the extra money now and save yourself from headaches this winter when you need it most. If it weren't for the frame braking, I would have given it 5 stars.
