Questions & Answers

Is there supposed to be an attachment included to use the electric start?

Asked by: Nanasue
All you need is an outdoor extension cord. It starts so easily that you will probably use it very little. One pull usually does it.

Our driveway has 4'-5' of rise in about 50' of length. Will this unit be able to handle this slope?

Asked by: Brian
Thank you for your question. Yes, the SnowMaster will be able to handle this steep of a slope. With a grade like this it is recommended to blow the snow side-to-side rather than up and down.

I've read reviews where the front end of this snow blower wants to lift up when moving toward. Has this issue been resolved or is there an operating method around it?
Asked by: Brian
Thank you for your question. Going slow is the key! It’s human nature to push the machine forward in deep snow and when doing so, you’re pushing the personal pace handle, which makes the unit speed up. It’s natural for a snow blower to try to ride up on the snow. All snow blowers will do this.

Toro SnowMaster 824 QXE 24 in. 252cc Single-Stage Gas Snow Blower is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 179.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from efficient and easy to operate For anyone (like me), replacing a 2-stage snowblower with a single stage like the Snowmaster was a leap of faith. Yes, I know that Toro calls this a 2-stage, but it isn't. That doesn't mean that it can't do the job. It performs as advertised. It efficiently removes snow in less time than the 2-stage it replaced. I particularly like the fact that it doesn't get hung up on each expansion joint in the driveway like my old snowblower. The reason? The auger in the Toro directly contacts the driveway surface at high speed - removing snow down to the surface - instead of relying on a rigid scraper blade. The "personal pace" feature allows the operator to adjust to the snow conditions (heavy, wet vs. light). My recommendation is that you spend the extra money to upgrade to the bigger engine. It's worth it when the going gets a little tougher in heavy snow. Finally, this machine is a lot easier to maneuver than a conventional 2-stage. It should be, since it's at least 50 pounds lighter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth all the time spent researching This snow blower is just right for my use. I live at the 4k foot level in the California Sierra Mtns. Have a L shaped driveway with a 12 degree up slope at the bottom of the L. 100 ft. long and 20 ft. wide. Had a good snow of about 8 inches and one about 2 in. Wetness of the snow is hard to gauge but the blower threw the snow about 20 ft. The 2 in. snow came at night and after having the first experience with it under my belt, I came out in the morning before leaving for work and had the driveway cleared in 30 min. I had borrowed my neighbors 2 stage with all the gears and handles and weight and worked up a sweat maneuvering it around. This snow blower is so easy to maneuver and did a good job on the hill. Up hill it wants to pop wheelies so I just take a small cut and do most of it going down hill. I am mechanically inclined so I don't worry to much about maintenance. Read the book and check everything! And spend the $100 on the extra HP, can't have too much horse power. Also bought Venture heated gloves, nothing like warm hands when working in the snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been waiting for a good snow until I gave this a rating. Short answer is, it's fantastic! I... I've been waiting for a good snow until I gave this a rating. Short answer is, it's fantastic! I really did my homework before buying this snowblower, and I'm glade I went with this one vs a traditional two stage. It's easy to maneuver and operate. While I was taking her out for her maiden voyage, I was watching my neighbor use his traditional two stage, and I kid you not, he looked like the wizard of OZ behind the curtain frantically pushing buttons, pulling knobs, and cranking levers to do the same thing I was doing. It was funny to watch but it made me thankful I went with the Snowmaster with quick stick and personal pace. The larger motor was a good investment :) The only negative that I had was that it didn't come with a light for snow throwing at night, but I just went out and bought a bike light which I attached to one of the horizontal cross bars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect... Super fast to use. Quick stick is best in industry. Easy to start. Easy to maneuver. Metal on augers helps with EOD. But the unit is a bit jumpy when engaging personal pace drive. You almost have to apply slight pressure upward on the handle to keep the bucket down during starts and to keep the scraper on the ground. Not as good at clearing to the pavement as a traditional single stage. A headlight would have been nice. This unit can replace my 2 stage which was only needed once in a while and do most jobs twice as fast!

After much trouble and aggravation, I find out the snowblower is made in Wisconsin!!! It had to come from Maine then to Boston, finally arriving where it was built!!! Go figure???

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Bought my snowmaster 360003 2 years ago. 1st real test was December 2018 10 inches of wind driven snow, 100+ foot driveway. This machine performed as advertised. You'll get done quicker with this snowblower. Personal pace system took a few times to get used to, a bit jerky, but now it's smooth as can be. Like any machine, it's only as good as the operator. Get out as soon as you can after a snow event. Dont allow the snow to settle and pack tight, or cars or people to pack it down. It cut through the drifted 10 inches of untouched snow no problem. End of driveway snow left by city plow no problem. Take your time, and control the personal pace system, don't let it control you. It's jumpy and bucks on grass, but then it's advertised for concrete and asphalt only! This was a smart purchase by me. Starts with 1 pull. I fouled the original spark plug with gas by pushing the primer button more than 3 times as stated{my fault}. Put in a new plug, and fired right up. Use as Toro recommends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a fantastic machine for medium to long driveways I needed to replace my elderly single stage since it was difficult to use on my steep asphalt driveway (80' long x 16' wide). I was set to purchase a two stage, but was put off by the size and weight of those monsters. This seemed to be the perfect blend of single stage, but with the power and self-propelled features of the two stage. Although we haven't gotten the record-breaking snows like last winter, I'm still glad I made the investment. Most recently, we had a 5" snowfall followed by an hour of freezing rain. The Toro was throwing this slop 25-30'. It's incredibly easy to use, just like using a self-propelled lawn mower. If you have ever used a two stage snow thrower, this thing is 11x easier to steer. I haven't used the electric start yet since it's almost effortless to start. I recommend spending the extra $100 for the larger engine like I did. You'll really appreciate it for those "once in a lifetime" snowstorms.
