Q:How long should 40lbs of pellets last?
by|Sep 9, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, and thank you for your inquiry regarding the Traeger Hickory Pellets. There are a lot of different factors that can go into the burn rate of pellets, so we are limited to providing fairly rough estimates. Although the temperature setting will obviously have the biggest affect, things like the number of lid openings, grill size, ambient temperature, and even wood type can all make a difference. But for a very approximate estimate, you can expect to burn about 1 pound of pellets every 2 hours when using the lowest setting, and about 1 pound per hour when the grill is set to 300.

Q:Are these ok to use in the Ninja Woodfire Electric OVEN? Has anyone tried them in it yet? It also uses pellets, which are a bit pricey in comparison.

A:  Thank you for asking. Our 100% natural hardwood pellets can be used in any device that uses all natural hardwood pellets. We only test the pellets in our Traeger and can't say how they will work. I would recommend checking with your owner's manual or support site for your product and see what they recommend. You can learn more about pellets in the support page on traeger.com.

Q:Is it safe for my dog to eat pellets?

      Answer This Question

A:  Wood Pellets wouldn't be much different than a stick they might find, but why would would they want to eat it is another question I guess? I seen a dog one time that loved to chew up beer cans, same question then, why?

A:  Please see this link: https://ourfitpets.com/health/digestive-system/my-dog-ate-traeger-pellets-what-should-i-do/ I claims to be reviewed by a vet and says that although the pellets are non-toxic, they may make your dog sick and can cause other issues depending on how much they ate.

A:  Our pellets are 100% all natural hardwood. However, I would still recommend asking your vet before letting your dog eat the pellets.

Q:Has anyone used the pellets in a pizza oven? I have the Ooni Fyra and would prefer a pellet without added flavors.

Not as good as other Traeger pellets
I bought 2 bags of pro blend pellets recently. I have had the smoker stop cooking on both cooks I where have used them. The bags are loaded with pellets up to 2.5” long. Those long pellets causing the smoker to starve out. Never had this issue with the Signature blend. I will be returning one bag and getting the signature blend.

Response from Traeger GrillsSep 27, 2023
Hi, and thanks for your feedback on the Traeger Pro Blend Pellets. Although you may occasionally find longer than usual pellets from time to time, it won’t necessarily be the case for every bag of the same wood type. However, if you ever discover that your pellets are like this, simply tapping the bag on the ground several times should easily break the bigger ones into more typical lengths. TraegerService
Love the Signature blend as it works well with beef, chicken and pork. Good for making jerky too

My husband bought these for me to try out on my new traeger he got me. Great flavor, really love the taste it adds when smoking my ribs and deviled eggs, cheese dips and smoked cheese. So good, delicious.

Always fun to fire up the Traeger and smoke something! This was a test Turkey...didn't come out very good but that's not on the pellets or the grill!

Great meat flavor enhaced with Traeger Mesquite Wood Pellets
Mesquite wood pellets from Traeger are excellent. Ash clean up with shop vacuum is definitely a plus with Traeger Wood Pellets.. Purchased another brand that had unburned pellets. This added to the clean up time of my smoker by having to clean burner by hand. Removing clumps of unburned pellets that semed to have literally melted together.
