Q:Will the wire bristles scratch the coating on the grates?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your inquiry regarding the BBQ Cleaning Brush. This brush is made with nylon bristles to protect the metal surfaces of your Traeger. When used on a cool grill with a degreaser, such as the Traeger All-Natural Cleaner, cleanup is not only easy, but also safe for the coating on the grates.

    Worked well till it melted
The brush is nice and worked well on a cool grill just don’t use it after it gets hot. I am looking for a replacement brush.

Hi, and thanks for your review of the BBQ Cleaning Brush. To prevent your grates from getting damaged, the brush is made with nylon bristles instead of metal. Since this will require a cool grill to keep the brush from melting, using a degreaser like the Traeger All-Natural Cleaner should make short work of stubborn buildup. And as with any kind of brush, the bristles can deteriorate over time, so Traeger makes replacement heads so that you don’t have to replace the entire brush, even after many years of use.
The Traeger brush not as strong as I expected.
I bought this to use on my new Traeger Smoker. However, as I was cleaning the grill the knob recently broke off. I purchased this particular one because it was heavy duty.

Hey Jim, thank you for reviewing our BBQ Cleaning Brush. We truly appreciate the feedback. We do have a 2-pack of brush heads available on our website to help get you fixed back up. Please remember, our BBQ Cleaning Brush is only meant to be used on cool grill grates. If the grill and/or grates are still hot when cleaning, it can cause damages to the brush. Product Melts
Bristles melted on 1st time use. It was not clear that it could not be used on a warm grill. Very disappointing for an expensive product from a perceived trusted, high quality brand that you normally don't worry about reliability. Based on this experience, will question as to whether or not to purchase other branded products in the future

Hello, and thanks for your feedback in the Traeger Cleaning Brush. Typically, nylon bristles will only be safe to use on a cooled grill. Although steel may be capable of handling the heat better, they are not recommended since they can damage the grates. To make cleaning easier, using a degreaser, such as the Traeger All-Natural Cleaner, should help break up grease that has already become cool. There are also replacement bristles for this brush that are available right here on Traeger.com.
          Mediocre at best.
Found the brush to be okay. Pieces of the bristles fell off and find it much more difficult to remove stubborn residue off of grating.

Hi, and thank you for posting your feedback on the Traeger BBQ Cleaning Brush. When you find that brushing alone is not getting the job done, using a little bit of the Traeger All Natural Grill Cleaner should make a big difference. This can help break down stubborn residue and make much quicker work of grill maintenance. Just remember to let the grill cool before cleaning the grates. There are also replacement heads available to get your brush scrubbing like new again. Search for “brush heads” on Traeger.com to find the listing. However, if you believe that the brush is deteriorating sooner than it should be, you can always reach out to Traeger support line and let us know.

Brush is too soft and doesn’t do the job. Great looking brush just needs strong steel bristles

Hello, and thank you for your feedback on the Traeger BBQ Cleaning Brush. While it may seem like steel bristles would be a good option for serious cleaning, they should actually be avoided since they can damage different parts of the grill. The best approach is to use an all-natural degreaser, such as the Traeger Grill Cleaner, to help break down and loosen the grease before brushing. For more helpful maintenance information, just go to the “Grills” drop down menu at the top of any page on Traeger.com and click the “Grill Care” link under the “Learn” heading for a large selection of useful guides.
