Questions & Answers

How would you describe the color. Online it looks a little yellow but i wasnt sure if it was the monitor or if it is more yellow or cream?

Asked by: KellyDIY
Cream, medium brown, tad of white and gray. Although nice-looking, this tile is not substantial. The mil wear layer is a 4 and a decent tile should be 20! So not for high traffic areas at all.

One of your "live chat" staff said this product doesn't need glue of any kind but the customers suggest otherwise. What are the facts?

Asked by: Rachel
do you need to buy glue for this product

Can I install this over my current hardwood floor?

Asked by: Paula
Yes, it can be installed over any flat clean surface. It does not stick or fasten to the existing floor so in the future it could be removed to expose the original floor.

Laying it in a bathroom, can I place it under the toilet, or must it be trimmed around the outside of the toilet.

It won't look very nice trimmed around the outside of the toilet base. If I can just trim around the flange plate with plenty of clearance, it seems it'll be nicer looking.... unless that screws up the expansion issue. Bathroom floor is only 6' x 6'
Asked by: jack
i place all my vinyl floor under toilet...just cut access for the hole...then put new toilet on top...seal around the base....good luck

Customer Reviews

Ashlar 12 in. x 36 in. Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring (24 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 1746.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ashlar Installation Tip and Overage We installed this in our Kitchen last month and really love it... so much easier, cheaper, and less mess then putting down tile. We used only a sharpie marker and two utility knives for installation. Installation Tip #1 - keep the wax paper supplied between each tile... these can be used to create templates for odd cuts or to measure your lengths. Tip #2 - keep two utility knives handy - one for scoring and one for cutting excess when the tile doesn't snap evenly. Tip #3 - weigh down your first few tiles so they don't 'float' and cause headache in your measurements. Tip #4 - when installing Ashlar or any Tile looking Allure - adjust your overage to around 25-30%, we set the room at an angle and due to the overlapping edges and grout lines needing to line up, you need considerably more product then expected. Overall we used 8 boxes (200 sq ft) for around 150 sq ft area. Each box covers around 24 sq feet. In closing, great product, less noise then laminate, less work then tile, and looks fantastic.

I'm pleased with how the Sedona Vinyl Tile flooring looks in my kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. It brightens up the rooms and makes the areas look larger. It has good texture which is great for keeping my dogs from slipping and sliding as they race through the kitchen at feeding time. It does mean I'm sweeping up dust and leaves from their paws several times a day as it catches in those little dips and curves. I recommend a Swiffer or similar dust mop as a broom just doesn't do it. I had a professional install the flooring so I can't speak to the ease or difficulty of installation but I know it went down quickly and and he had no complaints about it. My contractor mentioned several times how nice it looks. My only afterthought with installing vinyl is that the finish is flat, not shiny as tile usually is so my eye does a double-take. I wouldn't switch from vinyl though because my dogs slide horribly on tile and laminate. Overall, I am quite happy with the results. Since it's only been down for a week, I can't comment on longevity or wear hence the 4 stars.

But I needed one box to finish up. I ordered it online and when it got here the corners of all but two were broken as if they had been dropped. And the color isn't Córdoba! It is grey with no browns at all. And a lite grey grout line

Sawcut Arizona Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring for our guest bathroom - and we love it. I thought this would be along the same lines as the Allure Ultra, but it is more like peel and stick tile - no peeling but it's only about twice as thick as that junk - in fact, I consider this stuff junk. If it didn't take Home Depot several weeks and their return policy is difficult at best (they want you to wait until they have someone pick it up, then wait until they get it back before they refund your money) I would have returned it and picked another Allure Ultra. This is thin. It is so thin, you can cut it with scissors. It just has some sticky stuff on edges. I am not pleased. It at least looks nice which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars, but I do not expect it to last very long AND we even put down underlayment, just to cover the peel and stick tile that the previous owner cheaped out and put in the kitchen to make it look OK enough to sell. Spend the few extra nickles and purchase the TrafficMASTER Allure Ultra, you will be much happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Piece of cake... Installed this in 6 hours, 110sq. ft. The floor looks fantasic after all said and done. There are some seams that are not tight, however, that is not a product issue, I didn't take the time to align it tightly. I never had done this type of work before, just take your time and measure it out as you move along. The most difficult part for me was cutting around the water heater and gas/water lines. I backfilled the cutouts with scrap pieces. I used the brick pattern since the instructions suggested it was faster. If you install to align the grout lines you will need to feed from multiple boxes since the grout lines are different. Try to get it right the 1st time, you can unstick the planks once and even then it leaves residue on each strip so try to get it right. I had to do this once or twice no big deal. I found it helpful to work atop a clothes dryer instead of from the floor to cut pieces and all. Make sure you lay the product on a flat surface if you're going to store it awhile before laying. Cool stuff though, i'll be putting it in my 1st floor bathroom.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from After 4 years...color wearing off. Not as easy as portrayed. After viewing this flooring in the store and seeing the video and reading the literature we purchased 20 boxes of this flooring during the Spring of 2011. It was installed in the kitchen, front entry (including the coat closet) and two bathrooms (one with a linen closet). It was not easy to cut with a razor knife - went through many, many new blades. Particularly difficult if the wall is rounded - of which we have many. Utility scissors worked a bit easier but it was tough. Very difficult to make minor adjustments - once it is stuck - it is stuck. After the second year we started to notice the colors starting to come off near the back door and under the kitchen bar stool area. The door sweep and the "button" on the bottom of the stool are both plastic. So now there are white spots where the pattern has come off. Heading back to Home Depot with the receipt and the box - hopefully they will honor the 25 year warranty. Will need to replace several panels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not So Easy to Install This is a nice looking product with a good selection of patterns. The "planks" are thick and should wear well. However, it was much more difficult to install than we expected. We were a team of experienced DIYers; several of us had extensive experience installing ceramic tiles. We chose Allure to put over an existing sheet vinyl floor because we didn't want to install a new subfloor. Particularly hard was butting the planks together. It was impossible to get the seams really tight. We installed a "peel and stick" floor at the same time. The seams on that floor are not visible, but many of them are on the Allure floor, despite great effort. The Allure planks were also very difficult to cut. Additionally, we did not have a heavy duty roller, so it took a lot of work to roll out the seams. We did use base shoe around the perimeter of the floor to hold the floor in place. The floor hasn't gotten any wear yet, so can't comment on durability. It looks good and feels good under foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased! Love these floors! We've had the floors in for about a month now. We have 3 dogs and put this flooring from the back door through the kitchen, and they mask dirt and are very easy to clean! Even when they're dirty from the dogs tracking in dirt from the back yard, you cannot see it! Not to mention they look great and were pretty easy to install! The worst part of install was cutting them to fit around door frames that already had trim up...it can be done, but if we had it to do over, I think we would have taken the door framing off first and put them back on after floor installation. Make sure your baseboards are removed first, or that you have them maybe an eighth of an inch off the base of the floor, so these can slide under it. We have an old house (build in 1940) and there were layers of old flooring in the kitchen, so instead of ripping all that mess up, we sanded down any areas that weren't smooth and laid these down. They're so thick, you can't feel any imperfections that were in the floor before. Overall, best purchase I have made for our home in a while!
