We replaced a couple of these carpet tiles after an oil spill. Just pulled them up and replaced them with new carpet tiles. Very happy with this product.

Why do they recommend laying these in a checker board pattern rather than have the grain of the tile run in the same direction. We did a test with the tile all running in the same direction and we liked that better

Three reasons people do that: 1. Visually appealing 2. the variation in direction can help hid stains 3. If the room is not perfectly square or you deviate from your center line for whatever reason (installer error, manufacturing error), the mistake is better masked. If you are not "true" that can be magnified as you lay more and more squares. Installers usually snap a line to the true center of the room, make a cross and fill in from there. Another method is to snap a line on what will visually be the center of the room. If there is any deviation from a 90 degree angle of the wall, it won't be where your eye rests the bulk of the time.

No. Thin and fairly hard. Not really designed for comfort. If you want soft, purchase carpeting with a great quality foam padding below.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a bad product. Used it to cover 3/4” plywood... Not a bad product. Used it to cover 3/4” plywood flooring in 2 attic spaces. Did a little more cutting (easy with shears or utility knife) than planned, due to a need to avoid covering the 1/8th inch ventilation gaps with carpet. Word of warning: they don’t stick to dirty plywood!

It is suppose to be .6 in thick. It is not. It is roughly 5/16 or .3175 thick. It is a very nice color and has good texture but it is not thick and does not have the depth that was advertised.
