can this product be laid on concreat

Asked by: dave
Yes, this is the best surface to lay this type of title. Clean the surface, remove any surface blemish, like nails from tack boards, old paint, fill holes and make sure.. its very very clean when placing the tiles down. I use a brush and sweep each tile area before pressing down the tile. Once the surface is clean, I would use a adhesive mix to prep the floor.. this will give the tile a better seal with the cement.

Customer Reviews

Coastal Grey 12 in. x 12 in. Vinyl Tile Flooring (29 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly idiot-proof I was going to have the floor done by a professional but decided to do it myself. This tile looked like the product. I was so right. The tile arrived quickly with absolutely no damage. I didn't have any rounded cuts to make, but I did have angles. At first I used tin snips (which worked well), but after developing a huge blister on my hand, I tried scoring with a box cutter and snapping it. This was much better -- with smooth edges. I cannot believe how much better the new floor makes my kitchen look. I have yet to grout it, I need to rest before I try that. Oh, did I mention I'm a 65 year old woman without a lot of big DIY experience? If I could do it, so can you!!! Looks just like ceramic tile installed by a pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy a caveman could do it. I've had these floors installed for quite a few months now without any issues or problems in my spare bathroom. Surface prep is key to getting a good install. Cutting is easy with a utility knife and a straight edge, so no expensive tools needed for install. I opted to not use grout, but that is definitely one of the cool features about this floor. With or without grout it looks great, and is easy to clean. Also, if a tile gets damaged, you can cut/pry it out and replace it in a matter of minutes. I would definitely recommend this product to others looking for a tile like alternative. Oh, also it isn't as cold as ceramic tile or stone. In fact it seems to stay at room temp even in the coldest of temps.

After 2 1/2 years our floor has white areas where the top finish wore through, we don't have an eat in kitchen with chairs. The areas of white aren't even in high traffic spots. We liked how this looked when it was installed, not good quality. Don't try to call the company for help they make up excuses. Some customers have complained about black scuff marks we don't have them, we wear sneakers. Good luck if you buy this flooring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! We used this vinyl tile in our previous home and decided to use it again because it was easy to install and it held up well. Love the coastal gray color, just wish they had a sample of it in the store. My father had to actually reach down and touch it, because he didn't believe it wasn't ceramic tile. We put it over an old vinyl floor and it adhered perfectly! Just a tip, a little grout goes a long way. the first time we used it, we bought a gallon of grout, but we could have gotten by with a quart.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for Condo Kitchen We installed this with our new IKEA kitchen and it looks and feels great. Installation is pretty easy once you get the hang of cutting the tiles with the utility knife (we did diagonals). Get lots of razor refills! Make sure to use some kind of floor prep/adhesive. We have a concrete floor and the prep helped the tiles stick firmly in place. We did the grout option and it looks like real tile. So far it's holding up to normal kitchen use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product for high quality easy-install vinyl floor tile My project was to bring our 1952 laundry room into the 21st Century. One of the major decisions for me was the floor. The existing vinyl floor tiles were disgusting, yet virtually inextricably attached to the cement floor. I wanted quality tiles I could lay over the existing floor. I am overly particular, so after weeks of research I decided on the trafficmaster coastal grey. Following the instructions was easy, and in a nutshell I would say the floor was a breeze to put down. The only time-consuming aspect was cutting the tiles to manoeuvre around tricky turns and obstacles. This tile is tough; you are not going to cut it with a pair of scissors. Using a heavy duty utility knife to score and snap seemed to work. I decided to grout my tiles and I am very pleased with the result. This is the best quality peel-and-stick tiles you will likely find for the price. It has truly transformed the room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I recently bought the trafficmaster ceramica tiles to redo our bathroom floor since it was covered in nasty carpet. It took me about two days from start to finish. Probably could have just taken a day and a half if I had all day to work on it but I did a little at a time. I ended up putting it in a diamond pattern which took a lot more time and cutting compared to other layouts but it was well worth the extra time to get the look we wanted to achieve. I used 1/8th in. spacers and grouted the tiles with the grout reccommended on the box. Turned out beautifully!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to install I have installed this tile in two bathrooms, one in a basement on concrete and the other in an upstairs bath on a plywood subfloor. I followed installation instructions using basement proofer on the concrete and henry brand primer on the plywood subfloor. I also grouted both floors. The basement has been in use for about 10 months. So far no issues at all. Upstairs bath has only been in use about 2 weeks, but so far so good. I think tile looks good and is much easier and quicker to install than ceramic. Note: I used the pre mixed Simple Grout. Don't grout too much at once as this stuff sets up a little fast. A mixture of half vinegar and half water will help clean off haze.
