Questions & Answers

How can I get a sample of this tile without having to buy a whole box of tiles?

Asked by: RichC
I ordered an individual 12x12 sample online to see the color, but later noticed my local HD had the 12x12 so I could be sure of true colors.

How many tiles in a package before the pattern repeats?

We saw TrafficMaster Ceramica Concrete & Roman Travertine Beige 12x24 on display in a HD store and I've read all the reviews here but no one has mentioned pattern repeat. This seems to be exactly the product we are looking for. Out of the 15 tiles per case, how many are the same pattern?
Asked by: patb
Although true the patterns do not "exactly repeat," many of the tile patterns are so similar (e.g., often just over two inches horizontal offset relative to other tile patterns in the same box) you will definitely want to lay them out (with all the arrows pointing the same direction on the paper backing), then stack the similar tiles on top of each other (into sorting piles) so you can purposefully avoid repeating patterns adjacent to each other. I ordered eight boxes of 15 each 12 x 24 tile, and found typically about nine obviously different patterns in a box of 15, meaning I would have nine stacks (sorting piles) from one box, and the other six tile were very similar (near duplicates) which I stacked in one of the nine piles (patterns) to help avoid nearby repeating tile patterns. In general there are enough different tile patterns to make any small or large tiled floor look interesting, but you WILL want to pay attention to the repeating tile patterns. See attached photo.

Can this product be installed flush without using grout? My old basement is not square and I don't want grout lines to emphasis the imperfections.

Asked by: janisnsc
On an 1800 sq ft house we added the Fusion Tobacco brown colored grout. This was to make sure the floor was water tight and gave us some leeway on tile placement. The math seemed to work well with the 3/16 spacers. The lines may actually help it looked more square.

Must you use an underlayment if installing over old pine flooring?

Asked by: blondie
If it is smooth and in good shape, it shouldn't have a problem staying down. If it's very porous, You may need to roll on some Henry's adhesive sealant for vinyl flooring.

Customer Reviews

Roman 12 in. x 24 in. Travertine Beige Vinyl Tile Flooring (29 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice I was a flooring installer for 25 years so installation was a breeze and should be fairly simple for anyone with basic DIY skills. I would recommend if you're using grout, cut the spacers into "T" shapes ahead of time because you'll be staggering the joints and + shapes won't work (I used a scissors. This will save you time and frustration from doing it as you go. The quality of the tile seems excellent as well as the adhesion of the glue. I installed mine over new 5 mm exterior grade Luan underlayment and had no problems. I used the recommended pre-mixed grout (color was LINEN) and it was easy and straight forward. If you want to see any of the tile available "online only" you can visit a Home Depot and there are samples of the "online only/special order" tile in the Tile aisles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product -- great look I am a professional handyman and have installed many types of flooring. I, as many have indicated, was a bit skeptical especially since local HD had limited sample and even less knowledge about the product. I decided to try it in my own bathroom remodel and was very impressed! Price was a fraction of using actual travertine and installation was much simpler and quicker (more savings). I used powergrab adhesive in each corner and the middle to suppliment the products peel-and-stick. I also used a light shade of grout at 1/8". I do recommend using a backerboard / underlayment so you have a clean surface, but primarily to adjust thickness and final floor height, as this product is thinner that actual tile. It has been 8 months and no problems! I recently listed the house for sale and many realtors commented on the tile, not believing it was a vinyl floor!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! We purchased this flooring in May 2012. It took a little to come in but the install was easy. The color is more beige than shown in the picture. We installed the flooring without grout and love it! I was concerned that the tiles would not stick properly but it was put down right over the existing vinyl flooring and has not raised up at all. We did make sure that the vinyl was secure before putting the tiles down. We were pleasantly surprised at the low cost of this flooring and picked it because there is little to no prep work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best of Both Worlds I put this down right over old vinyl in a bathroom. It laid easily, the adhesive sticks very tight and is was fairly easy to cut- with a VERY SHARP knife. I think grouting it made all the difference in looking like "real" tile vs. stick on tiles. It totally upgraded the look of the bathroom for less than 50 bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just beautiful! I own multiple rental properties and I strive to make them look high end while getting improvents done fast and affordably. I have used this product in a different size and color and it has been down in one rental for over a year with no problems. I was delighted to see this new 12"x24" size in travertine when it came time to redo one of my tenants bathrooms. The look is modern and once down it looks just like high end floor tiles. In real life this floor is much more beautiful and high quality than the picture suggests. The whole floor took about six total hours to cut tiles, lay them, and grout. My tenant has not stopped talking about how beautiful her bathroom is. I'm closing on a new house this month, guess what I will be buying more of...

I wanted a floor I could clean easily and comfortable under my feet. After much prep work of slab, (don't scrimp on preparing the subfloor), the laying of the tiles and grouting took me several days for the 14x20 room but was well worth it!! I used the Henry's tile primer which seemed to increase bonding so be careful , they don't come up easily if you need to reposition one. The tiles are not flimsy, but easy to cut with utility knife . They include installation instructions when order is placed online so I could start prepping floor while order shipped. Pleased with variety of patterns on tile. It's been 2 weeks since completion.I think they look great with the grout. So pleased with the results!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor! We installed this floor in our kitchen. It definitely has more beiges and browns in it than the picture shows. My husband says it looks like fudge ripple ice cream! We installed it on the diagonal with 1/8" grout and most people think it's real stone until they walk on it, which is much more comfortable and quiet than stone or tile. Easy to clean and, better yet, the pattern hides the dirt well! Very happy with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the look and quality! We recently installed this in our laundry and bathroom. I hated the idea of vinyl but decided to take a risk on this because I had bad luck with ceramic cracking in my home, which is on piers. If I would have know it would be so great, I would have used it in my kitchen too! It looks like stone or ceramic! Our floor installers decided to install over cement board with a glue (just for extra hold but it doesn't call for that). We decided not to grout to save money and labor but I still feel like it still kinda looks grouted. We used a brick pattern. I love my floor! We haven't lived with it long enough to comment on durability but it seems like it will be very durable!
