Questions & Answers

Is it water proof and ok for bathrooms and kitchens?

Asked by: PA
I like this flooring, good for areas that are typically dry. The material for most laminate flooring is a wood fiber and it will expand and warp f exposed to water. There is laminate flooring made for kitchen and bath, but this is not for that purpose. Instead of trying to match things perfectly, look for a complementary contrast.

Lakeshore Pecan 7 mm Thick x 7-2/3 in. Wide x 50-5/8 in. Length Laminate Flooring (24.17 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 1085.

We installed Lakeshore Pecan flooring throughout our entire home (excluding kitchen and bath). This flooring is in a beach home and withstands excessive traffic, wet sandy feet, vacuum cleaning often, and several dogs including our wild and crazy 80lb standard poodle who runs and drools on this flooring constantly. This flooring never shows dirt, and never seems to get dirty. It has never scratched either. It has shown a few water standing spots from the dogs water bowl that have wiped off with little effort. It was very easy to install (we installed the floor diagonally) It looks fantastic. Our subfloor was a tiny bit bouncy but that did not effect the functionality of this flooring. The flooring seems firm enough to be sturdy yet has enough give to withstand a little bounce. Unlike vinyl plank flooring we have used in the past, this flooring has never separated at the seams, and holds up to cold, humid, hot and dry conditions that our home goes through during the year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stands up over time ! Don’t let the price fool you ! Wife wanted pecan flooring so we bought roughly 400sq ft at the time for living and dining area to see how it would hold up over time as we live on a farm - Okla red dirt ! Needless to say we was very impressed! Mind you our concrete floor is not perfect yet this flooring did excellent in over lay and looks great we were so impressed we lay our bathroom flooring and has held up great we have a rug for stepping out of shower and has no ill affects on the flooring . The Best test was when we found our hot water line seeping up through our concrete - kitchen area found water seeping up through the flooring when stepping on it we remove the flooring and rerouted our cooper line and during that time the removed flooring was sitting in the garage giving it time to dry out and no damage was done so we relayed the existing flooring and looks great . I was so impressed that I dint have to buy more flooring .

I've used this about 4 different times, a total of 10 rooms, over the past year and it comes out beautifully each time. There is a real problem with this particular design though. The grooves between planks are not coated in the same wear layer that the top is and they don't butt up together as tightly as other models. It makes this one extremely susceptible to water between the planks, far moreso that other laminates. After only 1 year, we have multiple spots between planks where small amounts of moisture have caused damage to the floor. We live in a place where it rains a lot and moisture is inevitable, but the the floors get wiped dry regularly. Even Traffic Master's cheapest laminate holds up better than Lakeshore Pecan. This was my favorite flooring product for the price, the look, and especially the installation engineering. However, the durability is so poor, I'll have to replace it in two rooms after barely over a year. I showed this floor off to many people because of how good it looks, but I can no longer recommend it and, in fact, I caution everyone to choose a laminate where the planks but together with no grooves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have been installing this product throughout my house over the last two months and I am very impressed! The laminant is highly durable - I put scrap pieces through many tests to see just what will happen. A small piece fully submerged in water for 8 hours with no expansion or water damage when dried out, tried to stain with red wine, pasta sauce and ketchup - did not stain and finally dropped a hammer from different heights. A hammer dropped at three feet did not leave a noticeable dint, the hammer dropped at six feet did dint, but it was minimal. My large dog running across the floor has not left one scratch nor has me dragging furniture across it. This product is so simple to install, I am a petite woman with no previous flooring experience and have not had one issue after watching a few how to videos. I do recommend getting a high quality underpayment as this product does not have underlayment attached. The color is rich with light and dark tones and will blend well with all wood furniture. I am very pleased with my purchase!

By no means was the original floor true and level. one section had a 2.5 inch drop. Applied this flooring over a slate tile and plywood floor circa 1950? Used the 2 in 1 underlayment and the quarter round that matched. This was not an easy job by any means but I layed it down in the direction of the longitudal dips in the existing floor and it worked. The quarter round is somewhat junk and if I was to do the same would opt to go with pine quarter round and stain it. Could not incorporate a jamb saw in this situation. The flooring can be damaged on the ends because it appears to be made of a masonite material so be careful when using the roberts bar(which I would recommend). The quarter round appears to be made of compressed paper with a thin plastic wrap. Make sure your saw blade is SHARP. All in all, for the price, it came out better than I expected but the labor was intense on this particular floor. Several Days

We were wrapping up a remodel and the budget was nearly spent. I had to figure out a much less expensive option that my usual 'go-to' $3 a square foot flooring. I stumbled on this while browsing the website and after reading all of the excellent reviews I decided to gamble on it. I ordered enough for our two new master suites with bathrooms, the other two smaller bedrooms in the house, the hall and the third hall bath that would all be included. So, four bedrooms (two of which are very large!), hallway and three bathrooms. All of this for less than I paid for our refrigerator! It was a breeze to install! Two of us were able to easily install it through all the bedrooms and bathrooms and hallway in just a few long weekends with other projects peppered in between. Everyone loves it and asks where I got it. I can't help but brag about how cheap it was. I guess I need to stop doing that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive Look for Reasonable Price Traffic Master Lakeshore Pecan Flooring is an expensive looking floor for an extremely reasonable price! Installation went quite well for me and my other half. I'm not extremely handy but could still pitch in and help. We put a mid grade pad underneath and it works great. It took the two of us only a few hours to complete our large bonus room. We liked the floor so much we ended up installing it on our stairs, bonus room, living room, hallways, and dining area. The stairs added an extra challenge but they look beautiful! I'd also note that you should be careful when doing really large projects like ours because the dye lots of this product seem to vary quite significantly between boxes. We did end up having to exchange a few boxes (6 boxes out of 40 didn't match) and had to hand pick out boxes that matched better. Home Depot made that process extremely simple for us. Ultimately, we couldn't be happier with the finished project. It's a beautiful color and it really brightened up our whole house. We hosted a large party yesterday and got so many compliments on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great style, versatility and quality at an even better price! Placed this floor throughout my home except wet areas. It took us awhile to get it all done but it was so worth the effort. It transformed the look of the whole house, is oh so easy to care for and goes with any wood tone furniture. I was considering a much more expensive floor and I sincerely do not think I could be happier especially given the savings. The wider planks are attractive and look high end! They actually look like real wood, and with the underlayment the feel is much softer then the tile on cement we had before. The underlayment was the one with the little styrofoam dots which was forgivingly easy to use. There were minimal damaged boards and those few were used by cutting off the damaged end. The floor cleans easily using a robotic vacuum every other day and steam clean on light setting every other week. These floors always look immaculate and I love walking on them barefoot. We have a 14 lb dog that is very energetic but no kids except for occasional visitors and have had no problems with scratches or dents of any kind.
