Questions & Answers

How would you describe the color. Online it looks a little yellow but i wasnt sure if it was the monitor or if it is more yellow or cream?

Asked by: KellyDIY
Cream, medium brown, tad of white and gray. Although nice-looking, this tile is not substantial. The mil wear layer is a 4 and a decent tile should be 20! So not for high traffic areas at all.

One of your "live chat" staff said this product doesn't need glue of any kind but the customers suggest otherwise. What are the facts?

Can I install this over my current hardwood floor?

Asked by: Paula
Yes, it can be installed over any flat clean surface. It does not stick or fasten to the existing floor so in the future it could be removed to expose the original floor.

Laying it in a bathroom, can I place it under the toilet, or must it be trimmed around the outside of the toilet.

It won't look very nice trimmed around the outside of the toilet base. If I can just trim around the flange plate with plenty of clearance, it seems it'll be nicer looking.... unless that screws up the expansion issue. Bathroom floor is only 6' x 6'
Asked by: jack
i place all my vinyl floor under toilet...just cut access for the hole...then put new toilet on top...seal around the base....good luck

Sedona 12 in. x 36 in. Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring (24 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 1561.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ashlar Installation Tip and Overage We installed this in our Kitchen last month and really love it... so much easier, cheaper, and less mess then putting down tile. We used only a sharpie marker and two utility knives for installation. Installation Tip #1 - keep the wax paper supplied between each tile... these can be used to create templates for odd cuts or to measure your lengths. Tip #2 - keep two utility knives handy - one for scoring and one for cutting excess when the tile doesn't snap evenly. Tip #3 - weigh down your first few tiles so they don't 'float' and cause headache in your measurements. Tip #4 - when installing Ashlar or any Tile looking Allure - adjust your overage to around 25-30%, we set the room at an angle and due to the overlapping edges and grout lines needing to line up, you need considerably more product then expected. Overall we used 8 boxes (200 sq ft) for around 150 sq ft area. Each box covers around 24 sq feet. In closing, great product, less noise then laminate, less work then tile, and looks fantastic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from After 4 years...color wearing off. Not as easy as portrayed. After viewing this flooring in the store and seeing the video and reading the literature we purchased 20 boxes of this flooring during the Spring of 2011. It was installed in the kitchen, front entry (including the coat closet) and two bathrooms (one with a linen closet). It was not easy to cut with a razor knife - went through many, many new blades. Particularly difficult if the wall is rounded - of which we have many. Utility scissors worked a bit easier but it was tough. Very difficult to make minor adjustments - once it is stuck - it is stuck. After the second year we started to notice the colors starting to come off near the back door and under the kitchen bar stool area. The door sweep and the "button" on the bottom of the stool are both plastic. So now there are white spots where the pattern has come off. Heading back to Home Depot with the receipt and the box - hopefully they will honor the 25 year warranty. Will need to replace several panels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not So Easy to Install This is a nice looking product with a good selection of patterns. The "planks" are thick and should wear well. However, it was much more difficult to install than we expected. We were a team of experienced DIYers; several of us had extensive experience installing ceramic tiles. We chose Allure to put over an existing sheet vinyl floor because we didn't want to install a new subfloor. Particularly hard was butting the planks together. It was impossible to get the seams really tight. We installed a "peel and stick" floor at the same time. The seams on that floor are not visible, but many of them are on the Allure floor, despite great effort. The Allure planks were also very difficult to cut. Additionally, we did not have a heavy duty roller, so it took a lot of work to roll out the seams. We did use base shoe around the perimeter of the floor to hold the floor in place. The floor hasn't gotten any wear yet, so can't comment on durability. It looks good and feels good under foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased! Love these floors! We've had the floors in for about a month now. We have 3 dogs and put this flooring from the back door through the kitchen, and they mask dirt and are very easy to clean! Even when they're dirty from the dogs tracking in dirt from the back yard, you cannot see it! Not to mention they look great and were pretty easy to install! The worst part of install was cutting them to fit around door frames that already had trim up...it can be done, but if we had it to do over, I think we would have taken the door framing off first and put them back on after floor installation. Make sure your baseboards are removed first, or that you have them maybe an eighth of an inch off the base of the floor, so these can slide under it. We have an old house (build in 1940) and there were layers of old flooring in the kitchen, so instead of ripping all that mess up, we sanded down any areas that weren't smooth and laid these down. They're so thick, you can't feel any imperfections that were in the floor before. Overall, best purchase I have made for our home in a while!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from installed sedona in 2010 - still perfect For those one-star failures: 1) read and follow the installation manual! 2) let the boxes to lay in a place/room that has the same temperature and humidity like the room where it will be installed 3) you do not need to cut through the material - just lightly score and then break - child can do it 4) keep the place clean - to prevent getting dirt on the adhesive areas - keep the separation sheets on top of the adhesive strips until you get to them to install the next row 5) rent heavy roller and keep rolling - I keep using small one as I go and the the heavy one after finishing every run; and then just keep rolling diligently - it will pay off 6) the seam gap will not be there if you push to close them within 30 seconds or so - the longer you wait, the harder it will be 7) the installation manual will tell you how to fix mistakes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Beautiful This tile has a stunning appearance. I've read some other reviews that people claimed that it is easy to cut with a razor knife and a level as a straight edge, I do not entirely agree on that point. The tile is very slippery and holdinbg a level in place while cutting is nearly impossible. I used an old table and straight boards and C clamps to hold the tile in place, quite a bit more time consuming clamping on the cuts but at nearly $2 a square foot it's better to take the time than risk ruining the tile. It has only been in my kitchen for 24 hrs so I can't comment on the durability. My installation required cuts on every single edge, which was time consuming but other than that it was just a matter of lining up the grout lines and installed very quickly. When I was finished my wife and I stared at the floor for what seemed like hours. I did a good job and earned some hunny do brownie points for the beautification of our kitchen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall Very Nice Resilient Vinyl Plank Purchased TrafficMaster Allure Cordoba in January 2010. I ordered 7 boxes based on measurements suggested on website but came up one box short even after factoring the 10% extra. We ordered the product on a Sunday and it was delivered promptly the following Thursday. When boxes arrived, 4 out of 7 had broken pieces, but was able to make it work. As for installing, pretty much went as expected, although I would recommend a very sharp blade and/or very sharp heavy-duty scissors. I had a lot of door jambs, corners and curves in my kitchen - took about 1 1/2 day to complete. The smell went away after 2 days and, overall, we are very happy with the result. Seems to be resistant to the dog's nails, sandy boots, water sloshes, etc. I also picked up a tube of kitchen/bath silicone caulking, color-matched to accents of the vinyl, to help with some of the seams that didn't quite square off. I would consider using this type of product again for the bathrooms in our house.

I purchased Allure Sedona to recover stair treads, and I liked it so much I also re-floored the bathroom with it. These tiles are very tough and durable, much tougher than roll vinyl. It is very pretty, and it is easy to lay. Caveats: you must buy the recommended overage; this is to make sure your tile pattern lines up correctly. Also because of the tile pattern you must plan out your installation before you lay the first piece. This tile is harder to cut than cheap roll vinyl, but you can cut it with a utility knife and a straight edge. The grip strip makes the laying really fast and easy, just keep it clean as you work. The product is packed with protective paper, which is very handy to use as a template for cutting around shapes. The carton has a window flap that you can open in the store to make sure you like the color. I recommend this product, but read the manufacturer's recommendations to make sure it will work for your application.
